There was an old PC game that featured Chuck Yeager called Chuck Yeager's Air Combat. It came out in 1991 so there's not much real instruction or commentary but something done today with whatever he recorded for the original game would be good.

Thank god someone remembers that game. I still keep an old computer around to play. Granted, the graphics are very dated, but the modeling of the planes works so well and were different from each other. There was a manual that went along with it that talked about staying within the envelope of your various planes and how that could mess you up.

karebu2 in all honesty, the way you accomplish 90% of objectives.
      One at a time.
Caught the Germans by surprise, placed some great sharp shooters. Used grenades and tons of bullets, and balls. One gun at a time one, one trench at a time, one inch at a time. My heart races just thinking of being in that situation where one bullet could disable you let a lone kill you.
When they say elite, these guys were fucking elite.
Some landed behind enemy lines right next to German positition with no weapons or supplies because it got swept away when they jumped out of the plane by the propellor blast.
Intense fucking shitting of my pants would have occurred 60 seconds into a mission.
Here we are with our freedom and brand new smartphones. We should be praising the warriors of WWI & WWII as gods.

My uncle Frank S. was in this unit. He is not in the movie because he preferred to secure his retirement from the huge plant in International Falls, MN. The movie would have taken him from his job prior to his planned retirement. His fellow soldiers wanted him to be in the movie, so they had things Frank did written into the story. One thing is the stringing of the cable across the river to go over and grab some Germans, bring 'em back across, beat the hellsinki out of them and get some intel. Frank did that. Frank was Shifty Powers' spotter. Together, they sent a lot of Germans to hell. Frank committed suicide on May 22, 2017. His wife of forty years had died 16 days before and he learned he had terminal cancer just a few days before he hung it up. May God bless you, Frank. Your youngest brother mourns you, and your two nephews of him will always honor your sacrifice for your nation and People.

All gun crews became quite deaf due to the fact that they never used ear defenders and with shoving round after round into the breech....the recoil and muzzle blasts quickly take their toll on gun crews ears....plus, gun crews were all busy, each crew member having an assigned, then rotational gun crew "number", signifying their crew position to place, prepare, load the fire the gun....and repeat as required.....and they traditionally have a squad or platoon of infantry to defend their gun position....!

Some missing info...Lt. Winters sent a soldier back for more ammunition and additional troops...Lt. Spiers rushed the 4th gun outside the trench when assaulting the gun. The grenade used to detonate the explosives in the barrel on gun one was German..

I’ve been to Brecourt Manor and talked to the owner. He said there wasn’t a trench like this or the one depicted in the series. It was simply a drainage ditch as can be seen there now. Also, I think the guns were behind the hedge row not in front, but I could be wrong.

That's why Band of Brothers was so good, it was based on regular men being Heroes, just think if it weren't for all the Heroes we had fighting for our great country, in the air, on the sea, under the sea, in ice , snow ,in rains, mud, tropical temperatures anywhere. I am so proud of what they did.

Just like H.L.Mencken once wrote: American heroism in battlefield has always been rare compared to American cowardice. It's just that we have had almost 100 years Hollywood propaganda claiming the opposite. In Normandy the most dogged fighting soldiers were clearly Germans when they were outnumbered by Allied by 1:3 or 1:5. British historian Max Hastings and many others have been stunned how many German units fought so ferocious with extremely courage.

From the Book " Band of Brothers"
Lt. Winters set out with 12 men to destroy 4 guns.
They took 3 of the 105's and Lt. Spears, who brought 5 men with him, lead the assault that took gun #4.
A total of 4 Americans were killed, 2 wounded. The Germans suffered 15 dead, many more wounded, 12 prisoners were taken, they destroyed all four 105mm Howitzer field pieces, scattered what remained of the gun crews and neutralized the 50 man platoon of elite German Paratroopers detailed to guard them.
They withdrew under heavy fire upon completion of their mission.

He didnt die from a enemy bullet. He was killed by a german grenade. And the MG's firing at the US troops didn't retreat. The US troops left them for the invasion force to take out which was ok because the Paratroopers assalting the guns were allready low on men.

Believe me, soldiers today are just as brave. It's the career mentality of the officers that's the problem. The brass today is so ridiculously risk averse that mission accomplishment now comes secondary to troop welfare.
