I want to ride!! The first CG boat I set foot on was the 44404 at station Cape Charles VA. in 1974! ❤👍🇺🇸

Great seeing the 44409 underway. I had a lot of hours underway on her from 87-89 in Garibaldi/Tillamook I am building a Dumas RC model of her right now for my grandkids to play with in our pond.

Awesome! I'm building a Dumas model now too. It's been in the box for about 30 years. Some of the wood is really brittle so I'm going to have to almost start from scratch. Good luck Coastie!! 👍

I was in the Coast Guard stationed there at Station Humboldt Bay from 1988-1990. Worked on the 44396 and 44378.
That's a very familiar ride to me. Thanks for sharing!

At the 4:06 mark, the gray haired guy driving the boat is an Ex-Coastie who last served on a 44 foot motor lifeboat 41 years before this video was filmed. What a thrill to bring the CG-44409 back into Humboldt Bay from the other side of the bar. A boat ride I will never ever forget. Thank you Clive Lawford for sharing this video. What I don't understand is that any law enforcement agency would need a fast response vessel. I agree that the 44mlb was a workhorse and handled heavy seas with ease, but..... (It is really great to see these boats having a second life)

Is this boat in Humboldt bay? This boat was at Garibaldi (Tillimook Bay) back in the day... great, safe boat... we used to say that it would go 14 knots (with the ebb). Never was a day underway that I didn’t get seasick 🥺... managed to help save lives regardless...

Went to Tillamook straight out of boot camp. I remember riding the 409 and 309 as well as the 30619 there.
