KNIES KINDERZOO, Rapperswil Jona

Knies Children's Zoo is a zoological garden in Rapperswil in the Swiss canton of St. Gallen. The zoo belongs to the Swiss National Circus Knie and is part of its winter quarters. Some animals from the children's zoo used to accompany Circus Knie on its Swiss tour as a traveling zoo.
Knie's children's zoo invites you to visit from February to November. In contrast to other zoos, direct contact between visitors and the animals is an important concern and certainly desired. Various pets may be petted and fed zoo food.
You can see elephants, many ungulates, several species of monkeys, rodents, kangaroos and a whole range of birds, a total of around 400 animals from 44 species. The zoo also offers a sea lion show as well as refreshments and play options.
Knie's children's zoo uses its income to support a project to protect the highly endangered Asian elephants in Sri Lanka. Support for another project in Thailand is currently being examined
