Well for me I would put Her in the 2014 year. but that's because my theatre released it in January it's one of those movies that could be classified as a 2013 released or a 2014 year.

Not that he wouldn't check them, that he would leave them all open after he checked them. He could easily close it and then move on to the next one. Dumbass.
@zantam321 It’s ridiculously stupid of you to say it’s a terrible film because you missed every other aspect that was done with flawless, masterful precision. Characters make dumb decisions like people do in real life. They’re operating on little to no sleep. A man’s daughter was kidnapped, so he would think irrationally and be driven by fear and emotion. Detective Loki was shocked by what he saw, so he couldn’t think straight. You need to look at this film with a different perspective.
1. The Wolf of Wall Street 2. Prisoners 3. 12 Years A Slave 4. Short Term 12 5. The Hunt 6. Her 7. Leviathan 8. Mud 9. Fruitvale Station 10. This Is The End
The opening scene from The Place Beyond the Pines with the camera following Ryan Gosling through the carnival was so badass. Gosling was ELECTRIFYING in this movie he absolutely stole every scene he was apart of, I also say this is one of Bradley Cooper’s best performances. Both it and Prisoners are fantastic movies. Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Gosling are two of the most underrated actors of our generation.
here's my top ten, i know people have said American Hustle and 12 years a slave are fantastic movies but they won't come out in my country until January. 10. Rush 9. Gravity 8. Elysium 7. 1. The Place Beyond the Pines- I haven't seen a film like it, so original. Great script, great soundtrack, great performances. Glad you liked it. 2. Her- Great science fiction Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson had incredible chemistry 3. The Wolf of Wall Street- The dialogue in this movie was just too good. 4. Captain Phillips- Big surprise, I expected a propaganda piece, but what I got were really fleshed out characters and great performance by both Tom Hanks (no surprise) as well as the unknowns 5. Prisoners- Scary, depressing, but with great cinematography, unmatched direction and all-too-real characters. 6. Dallas Buyers Club- Mathew McCoughnaghey (however you spell it) and Leto gave top-notch performances. Great direction too. 7. Twelve Years A Slave- Shocking, depressing, hard too watch, you really feel for the main character. 8. Inside Llewelyn Davis- The Coen bros. never cease too amaze me, I was so real and the script felt so natural. 9. Rush- Hilarious movie. "What, you never seen a little blood before" ;) 10. The Hobbit Desolation of Smaug- It's no Lord of the Rings, but it sure does middle Earth justice with the coolest dragon ever put to film (just sayin') HM: Gravity, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The World's End, This is the End, Pacific Rim
thoughts regarding the honorable mentions. you might want to mention them at the end instead of the start. its kinda ruins some of the tension when you do it this way because it says right off the bat that none of them will be on the list. just a thought

Thank you so much for the list. The only true top 10 list on RUclips where you weren't afraid to put what you actually liked. And thanks for not putting frozen in your top 10. And also thank you for not giving it an honorable mention either lol
Prisoners was absolutely brilliant. I enjoyed American Hustle but Prisoners made me feel all sorts of things. Also, Wolf of Wall St. was fantastic. Cheers!

Fantastic list, Chris! Fully endorse your inclusion of "The Hunt". A foreign-language film that deserves a wider audience, despite the subject matter. Amazing performance from Mads. Also loved your #1.
I like Prisoners too, it's just really well executed on every level. Gravity though... I know it's just No.10 on your list, but I just don't get why so many people like it that much... Maybe I'm just not that into cool VFX anymore.
Gravity is so beautiful and intriguing. The issue is that it scripts falls really flat. It is undeniably entertaining , it's just kind of hard to get into a film with such dumb dialogue and side plots. It is a phenomenal film, but it could have been a lot better.
Epic Films I'm not saying that it's bad, I'm just voicing my opinion. I think this movie is just about its VFX, including the actual CGI and the way the director used it to convey... the idea of space. I did see the movie, and I remember she said that her kid died, then later got over it in space by... experience the fear of death? I'm sorry but that and many other parts of the film just doesn't sound like good plot to me, and the bad dialogue/monologue didn't help either. The little back story that you mentioned was so forced and badly delivered they might as well use a star war title crawl to tell it or write something else to replace it... imo of course. Like Foldable Lemons said a few comments above, this movie is an astonishing visual feast and kudos to the director for capturing that claustrophobic terror with the CGI tech they have today, but that's about it. :/
Here's my top ten list for best movies 2013 (Even though I didn't see all of them) 10 - Thor 2 9 - The Conjuring 8 - Rush 7 - Ironman 3 6 - American Hustle 5 - Her 4 - The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug 3 - 12 Years of a Slave 2 - Hunger Games: Catching Fire 1- Man of Steel Don't have to like it... just my opinion.
I recently watched 'The Hunt' thanks to this top 10 list. I was blown away by this movie, it was fantastic. Cheers Chris, your reviews are always stellar and right on the mark!
My personal favorites of the year. 10. Dallas Buyers Club 9. Prisoners/The Place Beyond The Pines 8. Fruitvale Station 7. Captian Phillips 6. The Wolf of Wall Street 5. Before Midnight/ Her 4. 12 Years a Slave 3. The World's End 2. American Hustle 1.Gravity Really great list btw Chris! Keep up the good work.
I honestly think that Prisoners is very underrated and deserves more attention, I've gone back and forth with my best of the year, between Gravity and Prisoners, and I think that Prisoners is honestly the best of the year
Oh my gosh The Place Beyond the Pines is AMAZING! Once you said it was a movie that filled you with dread and melancholy I knew EXACTLY what movie you were talking about because I completely felt the same way. I really agree with the picks you have on this list.
it's not the fact that it's underrated because in general, people loved the hell out of it. the problem is that people don't like to put it on their list just because it's an horror movie, that really sucks. i easily put it in my top ten favorite movies of this year. it's actually one of the best horror movies of the last 13 years,
Massive applause for including The Hunt and The Pace Beyond the Pines. Blue is the Warmest Colour was my film of the year though, and nobody even includes it!!!
I liked this video... 2013 was the year when I really became aware of what I am watching and movies in general. Gravity, 12 years of slave, American Hustle, Dalas buyers club are those movies that made me fall in love with cinema. Thanks for reminding me of that. :) This chanel is great !
Here is my top 10 10. Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug 9. Fast and Furious 6 8. The Croods 7. Frozen 6. Gravity 5. Man of Steel 4. Catching Fire 3. Elysium 2. The World's End 1. Prisoners
I still remember getting out of the theater after seeing Prisoners, waiting to get into my car and then repeatedly screaming “WOW” because I was just overfilled with emotions and excitement. That movie blew me the fuck away. It totally captivated me from beginning to end. So happy it was #1 on your list!
10. Spring Breakers (i enjoyed it) 9. Elysium 8. Star Trek into Darkness 7. Mud 6. Man of Steel (fuck the haters) 5. Gravity 4. The World's End 3. Wolf of Wall Street 2. Prisoners 1. A Place Beyond the Pines Some may think this list sucks but whatever
+Sarcastic Squareflake to dramatic... To many "ohs" and "ahs" also dialogue that was way over the top for me... Who would talk like that? It's like... Idk... I understand why people love it and I respect that... It's just kinda weird for me
Geezus people.... This is HIS LIST!!! Make your own damn lists if you don't agree! Anyway... Awesome list Chris! I am way behind on my movies. Will definitely have to check some of these out. Bring on the cinematic awesome of 2014!!
Love your videos Chris, i'm one of those who sent you an email thanking you for filling that geek hole in me (that sounded pretty bad) about movies and got pretty exited by your reply :), can't wait for your new 2014 list of movies! Keep it up with the great work!
FINALLY. someone with Prisoners on their list. I don't get why people don't love this movie.
Same. BY far the the best film of 2013. However i haven't seen WoWs yet.
Probably because they have an opinion
People tend to remember a movie for its climax.
Prisoners doesn't have a clear climax.
@@youtubeviolatedme7123 id say the reveal is the climax
@@user-vr8fs8gg6h I would agree, except the movie spends too much time on Detective Loki, and his side-plot has its own half-assed climax.

Great year for movies....
Great List
thanks man!!
Prisoners!!! yessss
The Conjuring. yes i know it's a horror movie, but it was really good.
I also enjoyed that, but this was such a good year I couldn't get it on my list
The place beyond the pines was my favorite film of 2013! Glad to see it on your list!
I got way more out of Gravity than "cool VFX." :(
Gravity is so beautiful and intriguing. The issue is that it scripts falls really flat. It is undeniably entertaining , it's just kind of hard to get into a film with such dumb dialogue and side plots. It is a phenomenal film, but it could have been a lot better.
Gravity wasn't just about cool VFX
I just saw A place beyond the pines... wow. Go see that one, its really something special and unique.
Here's my top ten list for best movies 2013 (Even though I didn't see all of them)
10 - Thor 2
9 - The Conjuring
8 - Rush
7 - Ironman 3
6 - American Hustle
5 - Her
4 - The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug
3 - 12 Years of a Slave
2 - Hunger Games: Catching Fire
1- Man of Steel
Don't have to like it... just my opinion.
Wolf on Wall Street replacing Ironman 3. Mb.
Some Man of Steel love! I'll overlook your Iron Man 3 inclusion because of that, haha ;)
Good list, though :)
Writing this in 2019 I can still say Man of Steel by far the best movie
I recently watched 'The Hunt' thanks to this top 10 list. I was blown away by this movie, it was fantastic. Cheers Chris, your reviews are always stellar and right on the mark!

Thank you for recognizing MUD!
I been watching your videos for about a year But you've inspired me a lot because of how amazing your movie reviews are.
You´re such a humble person Mr. Chris Stuckman! I love your channel !
I'm glad Gravity was 10...I feel like that movie is soooo overrated
same
Could not agree more
Theplaymaker1271 I thought the ending of gravity was pretty cool.
I know right
Theplaymaker1271 why tho? I loved the movie, my top 5 in 2013 for sure!
I honestly think that Prisoners is very underrated and deserves more attention, I've gone back and forth with my best of the year, between Gravity and Prisoners, and I think that Prisoners is honestly the best of the year
It was good, but not seeing Her even as an honorable mention makes me think it was more underrated.
Yay! I loved Prisoners, I'm happy to see it on your list.
thank you so much for acknowledging "The Place Beyond the Pines". I feel it is so underrated, but it was such an amazing movie.. def a must see!!
Oh my gosh The Place Beyond the Pines is AMAZING! Once you said it was a movie that filled you with dread and melancholy I knew EXACTLY what movie you were talking about because I completely felt the same way. I really agree with the picks you have on this list.
I still use "beast." Nice list by the way. My fave film of the year was Her.
Great list Chris keep up the good work :)
Dallas Buyers Club has to be in your top 10 cmon man (In Chris Carters voice)
Yes! So glad "The Place Beyond the Pines" made the list! So many seem to forget it, I have never stopped thinking about it!
Really sad to see Her wasn't on your list. It deserves to be on everybody's top 10 list.
No her ;(
Wasn't released widely until early January 2014, so it didn't count for this list
My top 3 is probably : The Conjuring, The Wolf of Wall Street and Gravity.
I think The Conjuring is kind of underrated.
it's not the fact that it's underrated because in general, people loved the hell out of it. the problem is that people don't like to put it on their list just because it's an horror movie, that really sucks. i easily put it in my top ten favorite movies of this year. it's actually one of the best horror movies of the last 13 years,
I loved American hustle don't see why a lot of people think it is overrated
Massive applause for including The Hunt and The Pace Beyond the Pines. Blue is the Warmest Colour was my film of the year though, and nobody even includes it!!!
Yeah I was surprised by Blue not being on the list, especially since he gave it an A.
True I couldnt finsh that movie the sex sence( whitch was alot!!) were very expliced so didnt get to finsh it lol
lookpassthestars1 I implore you to give it another try!!
ill keep that in mind
I liked this video... 2013 was the year when I really became aware of what I am watching and movies in general. Gravity, 12 years of slave, American Hustle, Dalas buyers club are those movies that made me fall in love with cinema. Thanks for reminding me of that. :) This chanel is great !

I'm so glad that someone recognises or even notices prisoners. It's never mentioned by any of the critics.
I still remember getting out of the theater after seeing Prisoners, waiting to get into my car and then repeatedly screaming “WOW” because I was just overfilled with emotions and excitement. That movie blew me the fuck away. It totally captivated me from beginning to end. So happy it was #1 on your list!
I did enjoy Frozen a lot, I think it deserved at least an honourable mention
His list, not yours.
And Frozen wasn't that good..
imo
J4k1_Chan

I'm surprised the way way back isn't on here!
Most underrated movie of the year is Fruitvale Station.
After watching the best of 2014, I had to see this, your suggestions were so awesome and 90% of the movies I had no idea about.

I absolutely hated Gravity..
preach!
Why?
Same man
+Sarcastic Squareflake to dramatic... To many "ohs" and "ahs" also dialogue that was way over the top for me... Who would talk like that? It's like... Idk... I understand why people love it and I respect that... It's just kinda weird for me
I absolutely loved gravity u have bad taste
Good list. It doesn't feel like it's pandering to a select group. Well done, sir.
I am sooo happy you decided on Prisoners being number one, I totally agree. That movie was so incredible, I loved it.
American Hustle was overrated.
Thank you!
***** I got bored half way through, so i stopped watching it lol
Well fuck you too
Captain Phillips should have been on the list, it was so much better than so many movies on this list
Such a great list. Denis Villanueva is one of my all time favorite directors. Loved prisoners
