I took my APHUG midterm today and, while the FRQs are still being graded, I got full credit on the multiple choice. My teacher, bless his heart, does a great job explaining things, and he always recommends that we refer to your videos for clarification. So, you’re a huge reason that I passed. Thank you!
Acculturation for me. I live in Canada, born and raised. Personally, I'd say I've pretty much assimilated as it was the nation I was born into, but I can see how forcing assimilation can be very burdensome to an immigrant. However, for the sake of the host culture, immigrants shouldn't disrespect the culture they now live in. That ends up being what I perceive as the problem a lot of the time when it comes to cultural issues. So yeah, acculturation for me. Probably within the 2nd or 3rd generation, there will most likely be pure assimilation as said individual has their parents or even their grandparents live in the country.
How can you assimilate to something you already are? As an example...If you were born male, you don't become male. You already are male. Similarly, if you were born into a culture, you don't assimilate to it...you are already it. What was your concept when you said that?
Hey Mr. Sinn, so my geography teacher has emailed you a few times asking if you were going to cover a specific subject in Geography for her students(including me). Did you happen to get that or no?
Yes! I am going to be making videos for all of the units. I will for sure be making a lot of economic videos and political videos. I am also hoping to make some new review videos for the units as well
Incase of Ethiopia, a multicultural multireligious and multinational state, Assimilation was triedfor 100 years and failed terribly. This is not for newmigrants but within the country, so after the failed pollcy people are left marginalized and separated. Now we still there i think its better if we tried integration. Look it up if you have time.
What??? How are you defining SUCCESS? Success & PROGRESS are not ALIKE, ESPECIALLY in the US, and with largely distinct STANDARDS of MEASURE, in REALITY. What we define as SUCCESS is not PROGRESS!
Assimilation - I highly doubt they forget their old culture and customs, it's just that they stop practising them. People who do this well, between sub-cultures are often referred to as '[social] chameleons'.
@@brandijackson6630 yea, since the parents would stop doing it, and due to them having completely stopped, the kids wouldn't even know it had been a part of their own families culture in the past
I disagree with the idea of culture being collided. I believe the second culture will fill the gaps of space left within the person's believe and culture to function in the immediate society or environment whether it be a host or a migration. Forget the idea of assimilation or resistance or acculturafi acculturation. Multiculture then occurs. Ta!
@Mr. Sinn The CONTENT in this VIDEO is FARCICAL! A deeply PERVERSE MISappropriation of the ORIGIN & MEANING of these terms. STOP trying to control and advance a FALSE NARRATIVE. Seriously!!!
Tricia, I find it hard to believe or really even see the point your trying to get across or why I should listen to it, But I would want to hear more of what your talking about and why, if you wouldn't mind telling me
I think me passing my exam is 90% percent Mr. Sinn knowledge, thank you for your content, very helpful and understandable.
I am glad I could help!

It's confusing when you use the term "old culture" in reference to the "incoming culture".
You’re brilliant man

Nice presentation
all cultures were created equally, but history tells us that some became more successful and progressive, but some became generally less successful.

I don't think the first generation would forget, but by the third generation, many things will be unknown/forgotten.
