Fun fact, Christian Linke, who sang and made Curse of the Sad Mummy, was one of the creators of Arcane, and he started out from Riot’s customer support. And regarding Amumu, while his origins still isn’t clear in the lore, his curse causes everything he touches to wither, die, and decay, which is why he can never have a friend.

Amumus curse is that he can never make friends. This is actually well implemented into the gameplay, as 3 of his spells are Area of effect attacks surrounding him. So effectively, the best counterplay against amumu is staying far away from him as he tries to come near you. This kinda symbolises his struggle trying to find friends yet they all avoid him as much as they can.
His curse is actually that everything he touches dies, so even if somebody tries to befriend him they would die because of course. We can see in the video that everything runs away from him because it can feel that its starting to die in his presence. Poor plants can't do it so whenever he goes he leaves path of dead behind him. Second part of the the curse is that he can't die, he even tried to take his life in video by jumping out of the edge but those shadows (representing curse) wouldn't let him die. So in short he can't die and can't be around others. By going to the town he basicly killed everybody and turn buildings into ruin
Do his attacks do friendly fire as well? I assume not, but that would be really thematically cool, making him super powerful but unable to work in proximity to the rest of the team. Would never work of course, because griefers would have a field day with it. But it's a cool thought.

@@SaltyCatling actually, amumu's curse is being immortal. The whole thing about him killing anything he touches is due to a brutal disease he has that causes flesh to instantly rot. He was once a prince of shurima that would one day be the emperor, but his family and him were afflicted by said disease killing everyone but him. His only company was this Great Shaman's grandaughter, that felt so bad for him that in spite of knowing he was sick ran towards him and hugged him. Amumu hugged her back but when he looked at her she had already died. He was then cursed by the shaman to never be able to die and by doing so turning him into the single most miserable creature in the lands of Valoran. Just letting you know and giving this useless knowledge of mine some use :v
Annie's father is her biological parent and marries her stepmother; whose daughter is Daisy. Her biological mother passed away but in the drawings show that she gave Mr. Tibbers to Annie as a means to always protect her. Also, Annie herself is born a mage who can control fire. As for Amumu; he's a spirit that is cursed to be alone forever because everything he touches is dies or brought to ruin. There are different stories of who he was when he was alive because no one is really sure. They're just legends told by people of Shurima.

One quick note about Annie’s powers: they were inherited from her mother Amoline who was a witch. When Annie was a baby, her and her father fell ill, with Annie getting so hot her mother couldn’t hold her. Amoline went to fetch water from a nearby icy river and never returned, where it is implied that she drowned. Before her death she had finished the stuffed bear Tibbers for Annie not only as a companion but as a protector. It is implied a part of Amolines magic or soul remains inside to keep Annie safe.

as a good fan of Fiddlestick I will also speak here since he has an interaction with Annie when Fiddlestick meets Annie in the game he tells her "Annie...don't let go" which are his sister's last words before being swept away by the river, something that surely continues to haunt Annie to this day.
@@pinkypie140 not in lore, but when you play as Fiddlesticks he will speak different things depending on who the enemy team is playing. If I play with him against someone playing Annie, he'll speak Daisy's last words to her. If I play against Jinx, he'll say is all her fault (talking about arcane) and it goes on.
And if you look at the end of the Annie cinematic, you can see a Daisy burning. As for how powerful Annie is. She is strong when she is scared, traumatized, angry or possess any kind of extreme negative emotion. Tibbers comes out to protect her when she is in trouble, but ultimately she doesn't know how to control her powers and she is still a child, she just becomes really powerful and destructive whenever she is in grave danger or stress.

Tibbers does indeed turn into a giant flaming bear. It responds to her emotional state and acts as her protector if she’s ever in any perceived danger. If her stepmother wasn’t such a bitch in the first place and encouraged her to learn and control her powers none of this would have happened in the first place. As far as Amumu goes others may have pointed out that his curse is 2 fold. 1) anything living that he touches dies. The second part is that he will remain forever alone and friendless. The torment he goes through mentally via the curse and the general lack of supports/friends means he sometimes gets so overwhelmed he literally explodes magic wise which tends to kill everything around him which is another reason why he can’t make friends. At least not in the town he partially and accidentally ruined

9:53 yes, that is Tibbers. Annie is like one of the youngest mages in lore, very powerful fire mage, her ult attack she sends Tibbers after you, a giant fire bear. Pretty much, assuming it hasn't changed, the bear was made by her mother and pretty much represented protection.
Interesting thing about Annie cinematic is it's the first (and I think the only one) that Riot fully made themselves, in-house. They usually outsource animations to various studios (one of them is Fortiche who worked on Arcane) - but Annie is fully made by Riot artists. Also about the Tibbers - yes, in game he turns into a huge bear, it's Annie's ultimate.
Amumu's story always gets me on the verge of crying... Seriously, the thought of him being just a child, not understandind why he was cursed and why no one likes him, searching years for just someone, a friend. So exhausting and sad that it becomes too much for his tiny soul to handle all these emotions, making him destroy everything and turning him into a such a monster, and when he realises what he did, it's too late. Endless loop of lonelyness ;(

Amumu's curse is like the ultimate "monkey's paw" situation of someone who wishes to be immortal: to not only have to watch helpless as everyone around you grows and dies, but to actively cause pain and death to anything around you and never being able to be close to anyone. Literal eternity of loneliness and depression
Finally, you guys watched Annie! She is one of my favorite champions storywise. If you look at the drawings you can see hints of her previous family. Annie is a Fire Mage but this is why people wanna replicate magic so badly. She could technically manifest it anywhere she wanted but she concentrates so much on Tibbers because she was sentimentally attached to it from her last family. The thing was, her step mother pushed a child past her mental capacity by trying to destroy that last fragment of attachment to her feeling of security so Annie in response removed any sense of restraint. Don't forget this is a mage with no idea how to use her powers.

Unless they rewrote the story again, thats not the case. Annie does indeed have magical abilities but the fire from Tibbers is not Annies powers manifesting. Its a spell from her mother, her *real* mother, meant to protect her. It responds to Annies emotional distress. The last sequence where Tibbers takes full from may be Annies own powers, its not unlikely that scene is meant to symbolize that her own powers now has come into play as its the only time through the video where Annie is showing intent. It still could just be a response to rage, its hard to tell. But the three first times its very heavily underlined that Annies isnt doing anything, this happens without her knowledge or intention.

Since mages are outlawed there (correct me if I'm wrong), it'd make sense to hide her powers instead of trying to find someone to teach her. I just found out rather recently that Vi has her own theme song like Jinx called "Here Comes Vi" I highly recommend it, though there's no music video for it yet. There's also a mashup of Here Comes Vi and Get Jinxed sung by the original singers of their respective songs if you're into that
A lot of champs have theme songs. Another funfact which I just realized. The theme for ARAM - a mode on league of legends is also the theme song for Lissandra, the ice witch. That bridge in ARAM is actually one of the bridges into her home. Some of those theme songs and the theme songs for the regions are really very good.

Tibbers was made to protect annie. Edit 2 (amumu): He was cursed to be alone forever, everything that comes close to him die. At some point the lore was that annie could come close to him (she was protected by her magic maybe?) and they became friends but riot changed the lore at some point. (they do change the lore from time to time)
Totally agree on the Tim Burton vibes for Curse of the Sad Mummy. Like, it's a very different art style, but it definitely has those Burton/Selleck-y vibes, especially in terms of the design of the environments. Those are some very Burton-y plants and cliffs. Also, fun fact, "Curse of the Sad Mummy" is actually the name of Amumu's ultimate ability in-game.
Annie's powers doesn't just manifest through tibbers the bear reacts trough her emotions when ever she is sad or angry so she doesn't have a control over her ability, also tibbers was the last thing her mother gave her before she died as you can see from her drawings
I'm so happy you reacted to these videos. They are truly gems in terms of narrative and artwork from Riot Games team. Some insights, Mr Tibbers is the last gift Annie's mother (who was a pursued witch) hand-crafted for her, so it's something really precious for Annie.
The wolf in Amumus music video actually was a teaser to Kindred, a champion that was released later. They are kind of a personification of death / grim reaper esque character that take the form of a lamb and a wolf who used to be one entity.
Yes, Annie's story had so much Powder vibes there alright. I believe Jinx and Annie would be able to empathize with one another, knowing that someone else also went through a similar tragedy in which she was the cause of it. In-game, Annie sounds like a cheerful little girl who loves to play games, you wouldn't think she came from something tragic.
"But then the curse began to whisper in his ear And would confirm what was Amumu's biggest fear It pledged that never shall someone become his friend It pledged that he shall be alone until his end" These were the lyrics shortly before Amumu had his tantrum that destroyed the village he was in. I believe that the curse is literally he is forbidden from finding friends, happiness or peace. It could be why death has yet to claim him, several characters in the game have unique dialogue basically taunting him or putting him down in one way or another. Except, if I remember correctly, our loveable Braum! The big brawny mustache man from the Freljord has a positive dialogue option though I don't know if that's canon. Overall a sad fate for a sad character.
Almost correct I would say, the reason he can't make any friends is that everything he comes close to will wither and die, so anyone that would come close enough to be his friend would die pretty quickly (as you can see with all the flowers and the like that wither when he walks by). I think at one point in the lore Annie was actually his friend but I am not sure if that is still the case.
Great vid as always! There's a behind the scenes video for the Annie cinematic and it really shows how serious and creative they are about their characters. It's only 4 and a half minutes long, so maybe something you could watch in your free time if you wanna get some insight into how they did it :)
Zaun was originally an extension of kingdom of Shurima. Shurima has many spirits that represent its continent. When Shurima extended to Zaun an emperor named Azir destroyed it's native statues of Janna the wind spirit, because people sailed to it and pushed toxic gas away. Azir destroying them made the winds stop coming and Zaun becoming a toxic city but some people still came to trade even as an underground trade city. When Piltover modernized they "pushed back the Shurimans" but left the under city in shambles but said it was part of Piltover now once they saw it was a port.
Fun fact, on one of the vinyl record transitions in Arcane, Annie and Daisy are seen on the cover of the Vinyl record, hinting that they could make it into the show.

Amumus curse is that he’s doomed to remain forever alone, in the music video he’s searching for a friend. His touch is death so that’s why he’s alone wandering for a friend, when he lost it and destroyed everything was his touch of death.

Such good animatics! In the game, Annie is Riot's version of Carrie (the stephen king book/movie). She is a fire mage and uses her powers to make Tibbers fight for her! And yes, Tibbers does become a giant bear!
I love arcane but live alone. I do not have someone to share all my feelings about it with, and through your videos, It is almost like I can share my enthousiasm with you guys. Thank you so much for this! As a suggestion, as arcane fans, you should definately watch the worlds 2021 opening show, lots of nice things for Arcane fans, I promise.
If you notice in the video, everywhere Amumu goes, the plants and animals wither right behind him, because everything that goes near him dies, that's his curse. And he also has Tantrums which also destroys everything around him. Plus he's immortal, so he is cursed to be lonely for eternity.
The real sad thing about The Curse of the Sad Mummy is that there are so many people who will cry for poor Amumu and wish he would find a friend, but then when they find a real Amumu in real life they will treat him like the villains do.
I agree that Riot's experience making music videos enhanced how they utilize music in Arcane. Carlie's description is so accurate - the animation pairs so well that it's almost like you're watching the music. I think that's one of the biggest contributors to my enjoyment of the cinematics and Arcane. Whenever I listen to the Arcane OST I feel like I'm rewatching scenes in the show. It's fun to see the way they experiment with art styles and music to tell a story. It feels like you can see the breadcrumbs of them flexing their artistic muscles.
Amumu is a story of a sad children that was cursed to eternal life of loniless, everything who come closer to him dies, in league game the champions you select to play have a brief interaction line, when we select them. Amumu line when you select him is: "I thought you'd never pick me.". Annie animation talks by itself, in the drawer scene you see that Annie draws shows us that her mother died and her father is in his second marriage. Her mother a powerful mage saved her at cost of her own life when she was little and her spirit 'maybe' lives inside Tibbers, you can watch the scene of a woman in fire appearing inside tibbers at the end. This is Cannon, it is happening in 'Arcane World', Runeterra.
In league there is another champion called Ivern, the friendly jungler. I can't remember too well so feel free to correct me but from what I remember, He is a warlord who was cursed to become a pasafist tree spirit and can't hurt creatures and only protects. His ultimate ability in game is to summon a rock gollem called daisy which has the soul of daisy from this. The way he could save her soul was to put her into a nearby rock. His ability is literally called daisy! And he says her name when he summons her. The golem also has daisys on it. Leagues lore is really expansive and I love how theres always connections between eachother
Hello there again! Saw that everyone was pointing out what is amumu's curse. The thing is not only his curse is to not have any friends, but there is a second part of the curse. If he touch anyone or anything it basicly dies. You can see that in the video, where he goes through the moon portal, right after that he is surrounded with flowers and as he touched it everything around started dieing. Also in his story there is a guy who had to cut his own arm to save his life, because amumu touched him ( he wanted to help him ).

In the Amumu video the Wolf is part of the character Kindred which is death in League of Legends. Kindred is the lamb that takes those that accept death peacefully, and wolf chases down those and give a violent death to those run from death. What makes it interested is Wolf is there, but not Lamb. Which means a peaceful death is not an option, but Wolf is an aggressive hunter, so him pathing around Amumu in curiosity shows that part of the curse is to live forever. Amumu is a kid that was mummified (original lore might've been touched up) who was cursed to never have friends. So he spends eternity looking for friends he can never have. A quest that can never be completed, especially if you think about what matters the most to kids that age, it's their developmental phase of friends. The old website used to have a friends and enemies section, and Amumu's friend section was always blank Riot is huge on the small details, like the meeting with Silco all the plants were alive and colorful at the start of the meeting, and dead at the end to give us an idea on how toxic the air was. In the Amumu video all the life around him ran, lost color to black, and the plants went dark and died out, to show an aura of death and despair around him (which is one of his abilities in game, he does damage to all those around him).
The amumu video is one of my favorites, every time I watch it is as good as the last and it makes me wanna play him even though he’s not really my play style
This is why amumu is one of my favorites. You guys should do a video reading up on some of these characters lore or after the cinematic look it up cause amumu's and annie's would make the cinematic make more sense.

Good point about the way Riot implement their music. I think the creators of Arcane once said that their vision was to make their "climax moment" scenes like music videos, which they obviously did perfectly everytime. Keep it up guys definetely my favourite reaction channel rn!
Wow! this is like a direct response to my comment on the other video 😅 Love the reactions! I love these 2 cinematics in particular because they really show that Riot cares about their characters and don't shy away from doing the characters justice; instead of just doing stuff to hype the fans like many other franchises do.
You also might wanna watch "Riot's 10 year anniversary video". Basically it was an event held by Riot to showcase various other games they were working on ( Valorant, Tales of Runeterra , etc. ) which we all the playerbase had no idea of. It was also the event when arcane got announced. The whole video is 1 hr long and basically contains in-game things, so I just recommend watching the first 10 ? minutes of the stream where essentially you get to know what the league community looks like. The first 10 min kinda acts as a intro to the 10th year anniversary event which I really recommend you guys to watch out. Love your amazing content
Actually never noticed it but when Annie's dad threw her out of the way it's the exact same animation used in Arcane Ep3 when the bomb went off and Powder was blown from the window.
Oh, yes. Always remember to listen very carefully to the words of the music in the musical League cinematics, because usually they are describing what the Champion does or as to what they are all about, and why they do that, in-game. Also, because the cinematics are about League Champions, when you see things going on, keep in mind that Riot is just trying to capture and express 1, 2, or 3 of, or even the Ult abilities of the particular Champion(s) being highlighted in each cinematic. Annie's 'real' mama gave her the bear. Annie misses her very much. That is clearly expressed in Annie's drawings that shows her mama in the pictures, the woman drawn with the 'dark' hair is Annie's real mama. And then the pictures with the mama in the ground, now gone, and the new 'blonde' haired woman over with her father is shown, and it is displaying how Annie really feels about that woman. And her father loves Annie deeply. And he knows what she does and understands, accepts, and loves Annie just as she is, which is why he lovingly calls her firefly. ❤ Something the 'step'mother just can't accept. She doesn't like, at all, how Annie's father accepts her, favors her, and loves her. She does not accept Annie. She doesn't like her. In fact, in the cinematic, you can clearly see how Annie, being a natural child Firestarter, how this partially scares, and totally freaks out the woman. She clearly makes preference over her daughter, and favors her (Daisy), and does not accept Annie just for who she is, and makes no attempts to try to truly love her, or understand her, in the same way that her father does. So you can imagine how Annie had to feel when the "other woman" that her father got together with doesn't like, or truly accept Annie as she is, and is constantly saying bad things about Annie to her father. And Annie really did try to save Daisy but what happens is, if it isn't too clear, or obvious, is that because Annie is a natural Firestarter child, she doesn't quite handle it, or control it well just yet. So whenever she is under any stress or pressure, or emotional distress of any kind, whatsoever, such as fear, anxiety, worry, scared, hurt, anger, pain, etc..., she starts the fires. 🔥 And of course Annie adores and loves her daddy deeply too. So she didn't want him to die in the fire either. Just another reason why Annie is so devastated at the end of the cinematic. Then, to make matters worse, that 'woman' has the nerve to be accusing Annie, and acts as if Annie hasn't already suffered great loss before, with her mama! And then, as any intelligent person knows, you NEVER EVER take away a precious toy or item from a child who has lost a parent, and that toy or item was from their beloved parent, and try to destroy it! Which is what the mistake that this woman makes here. So how would you feel? Which is what totally breaks Annie at that point. And so Annie has Tibbers takes care of the rest of 'that' situation. And Amumu is cursed to never EVER be close to anyone, to never be able to hug or love anyone, like, even just to simply hold a hand, or to even have a friend, because when he touches things they are cursed too, and wither away, turn black, and die. He is forever alone, and very very sad. Deeply sad and depressed. Oh, and the "Tantrum" is also an ability of his, in his in-game kit. He does a swirl around him for damage. And he walks around all sad, asking for a friend, and also saying to let's be friends, etc. Oh man, I long to see more Champions in Arcane. And the regions too! Swain, Urgot, Blitzcrank, Twitch, Rammus "OK", and Ezreal, Janna, Nasus, Annie, Amumu, Darius, Draven, Miss FORTUNE 😀, Ryze, Zeri, Cho'gath, Rek'sai, Shaco, LeBlanc, Zac, Garen, Lux, Sivir, Kai'sa, and MORE! ❤ I mean, Blitzcrank is tied, and integral to Victor's story, so Blitzcrank has to show up. He is just bound to show up. We hope!! Twitch may have, at LEAST, a camio, if nothing else. 😄 I wish Zac would at least be a guest camio, at least, as well!! Especially with the very very important and new technology of Hextech and all. And crows always zoomed in on and focused on in on very significant moments in the show! Come on now, when Jinx drops the crystal, and the crow, "CAW!", and even more crow moments in that scene, and others too. For all we know, maybe the demonic influenced crows turn out to know about Jinx's voices in her head, and use those to be influencing or manipulating her, to get ahold of, or seize the Crystal! 🤔 You never know! 😁 And of course, we longtime League of Legends players out here all definitely KNOW that Warwick IS coming!!! HEEEEE!!! OOH, I just cannot wait for the second season!! Sry to get overexcited and go on about Arcane. Anyway, I liked this video. Annie's mother had a witch-wizard lineage. She never knew, but Annie would know after her death. Tibbers is the stuffed animal that her mother made for her before giving birth to her. Her mother is inside Tibbers, her protector. That's why Annie is a magician and very strong at 8 years old. One detail is that Ivern found Daisy (her stepsister) dead on the banks of the river and turned her into a flower, and that flower is on Deisy's head, Ivern's bulk.
I think the other comments explain everything well, I would just like to add that in the amumu one fueres a shadow of a wolf that’s one part of kindred, who is kind of a reaper. We see him again in spirit blossom. And I will like to suggest the video: Varus- as we fall. It’s a bit more heavy but a good one and spirit blossom.
Someone may have told you this already but keep in mind that there is a separation between the characters in game and characters in lore (and lore related medium). In game focus is obviously on two teams fighting it out and not much lore comes out of it, while these shorts give so much and are loved by fans of the game. This is why Arcane means so much to players.
Amumus curse is that everything touches dies and that he will forever be alone. This visualized in the video when the path amumu takes starts darkening behind him
You can see that everything around Ammumu dies or stays away from him. In fact, the course is so powerfull, that even Kindred (te wolf), doesnt approach him much, you can check in the forest scene.
"Does Riot have any happy stories?" You know, this comment of yours really got me thinking. So I poured over the character roster (haven't really played it in a few years though) and interestingly enough the one thread running through the overwhelming majority of the characters who aren't villains (and even some of the ones who are, ie Jinx) is some sort of deep trauma. They've got it all: Either you or another party murdered your family, cursed by something terrible, etc etc.... But there are two very particular moments that come to mind, for me. The first of these being the release of Kai'sa, Kassadin's (supposed) daughter who was lost to the Void. This was a story-line set up 5 or more years in the making where Kassadin was one of the first heroes and many years later his daughter's survival was confirmed. The other similar bright spot is when another older character named Lucian fought Thresh in order to save someone. This story has a cinematic to it so I won't spoil much more. It was another character release, many many years in the making. Are these "happy" stories? Not really, but bittersweet and emotional, just like Arcane. Kudos for your reactions.
Just a suggestion, maybe you guys won't check it out but I'll still say what it is, "The lamb and the wolf - Kindred voice lines". I don't know why no one EVER suggests this but maybe it's because it's just a conversation between a lamb and a wolf but I find the conversation very interesting(centered around death). Kindred is a champion from League of Legends which consists of, as I said before, a Lamb and a Wolf.... You'll realize that lamb sounds innocent and kind but yet danger lies there and she knows a lot while wolf sounds gruff but is so innocent!!🖤
One of the champions in the game Kindred is a personification of death in this universe and has a backstory that he was so lonely that he took and axe and split himself into two, so he would always have a friend. And he has an interaction in game when he is close to amumu: "We understand your loneliness but,... stay away." Not even death wants him.
Annie and Amumu are early League champions, (both coming out in beta before the game officially launched) so at first it seemed a bit odd that they got these videos (which are usually reserved for new champions). Just speculating but I think the reason probably had to do with them revamping the lore of Runeterra they did to strengthen their world building and create the amazing lore that we see now in the stories they want to tell with the game and their new projects like Arcane. Annie and Amumu were slightly silly/goofy champions made when the company was much smaller and they were just trying to rush out a roster of playable champions. A little pyro girl and her demon teddy bear and a sad little cursed mummy who just wants a friend. How could they make them fit into the more serious lore of this world of mages, dragons, and void monsters? I believe Amumu was the first mixed media release in their push to tell the stories of Runeterra about 7 years ago. By creating this beautiful song about the lore of this slightly silly champion they ground him with a more serious backstory that better fits into the stories they want to tell. Same with Annie. She isn't just this ridiculous little out of place girl hitting you with fireballs and dropping her giant flaming teddy bear on you. They gave her a sad backstory that helps you see her in a more serious light.
almost one hour late, but here I am. So excited for the reaction. These two cinematics are so good, and from this alone I understand why fans have such expectations for a show. and they absolutely Delivered with Arcane.
Others told u how Christian Linke is also the showrunner for Arcane. But we just cant stress enough how well that paints Arcane as a passion project. Linke is a guy of pure love for the craft, an artist himself. Thats why the show will always stand above anything the usual media landscape will come up with, despite Arcanes critical acclaim
I definitely got major Tim Burton vibes from the Amumu video, very reminiscent of nightmare before Christmas and the general dark stop motion animation aesthetic that he created.
From what I understand; the story goes - Annie's birth Mom was a mage who got sick & sadly died when Annie was still very young - Timbers was a gift from her that would be her companion& protecter & her father (who was in the cinematic) had remarried a woman who had a little girl (Daisy) just a bit older than Annie. Apparently; Annie's- being a mages offspring had pyro-manifestation abilities & when in distress caused by fear or anger channeled thru Mr.Tibbers as her guardian. Did Annie have psychological issues? - perhaps. But what small child wouldn't be damaged by the trauma Annie & baby Jinx (Powder) have been through?
You're right about everything a bit more tragic than arcane. There are several stories in the lore that are so tragic just reading it, I can't wait to see it animated in the show.
I really hope that they don't change the Brackern and Skarner stuff in the Arcane universe. I *want* to see Jayce and Viktor find out about what they're using. I imagine that could be in a few seasons' time, with Ezreal being introduced and finding all of that out, either after being on an expedition in Shurima, or just stumbling on it. Sivir and Ezreal team-up, and them splitting ways, with the last thing seen of Sivir being her being accosted by a noblewoman. *That*, I think, would be awesome.

i don't know if anybody answered it already, but the Amumu's curse is actually that he is condemned to immortality but anythings that gets near him dies very soon, that's why whenever he walks in the forest, the plants are dying behind him.
just to lift your spirits up a tad, Amumu actually recently got a friend in the form of Vex! (a league champion) cause she has a voice line where she says "you're sad AND dead?...we should hang out." and i don't know if this is actually canon or not but I DONT CARE CAUSE IN MY HEAD AMUMU HAS A FRIEND AND I AM SO HAPPY FOR HIM well...technically amumu would have two cause of vex's shadow being sort of kind of sentient so WOO!
All we know about Amumu is that he was cursed in his life and that curse followed him and the curse is that everything he touches literally decay and that make things hard for him cause he will never make friends in his life even Kindred ( which is the essence of death in the World of Runeterra Rejected him ) so that's pretty it his goal in his life is to make friends that he could hug but sadly it won't happen because everything he touches die and get destroyed he is an old champion so it's story is a bit old we hope to see him reworked with a more hyping story and effect in the world
If I remember corretcly Amumu is was a sick child of an emperor in the empire of shurima, they couldn't cure him and he died by his disease. Shurima had this whole thing with harnessing the power of the sun throught the "arcane" to make "ascendants", basically creating god-like beings. Here's a theory, what if Amumu was sick, they tried to have him go throught ascension to cure him, only for it to "fail" and he dies (it has failed before when Xerath, another character, sabotaged the ritual for Azir). But the ascencion didn't fail, like Azir it just needed some catalyst to finish. And now his "blessing of ascencion" is the curse that kills everything, but him. In the actual Lore not even death itself (the Kindred) want's his soul (eventually they will take it, but it emplies that Amumu either searched for death itself to end his misery, or hopefully, as it is the loneliest being in existence, to understand and befriend him) , the wolf that follows in the shadows in the clip is literally death, the Kindred tells him that, being death itself and all that, they understand Amumu loneliness, but tells him to "stay away". I can't say League is the best at misery, but it's in good company. Honkai Impact is probably the best at conveying how dark the story gets with its animations (which are the cutscenes in game).

Fun fact, Christian Linke, who sang and made Curse of the Sad Mummy, was one of the creators of Arcane, and he started out from Riot’s customer support. And regarding Amumu, while his origins still isn’t clear in the lore, his curse causes everything he touches to wither, die, and decay, which is why he can never have a friend.

Amumus curse is that he can never make friends. This is actually well implemented into the gameplay, as 3 of his spells are Area of effect attacks surrounding him. So effectively, the best counterplay against amumu is staying far away from him as he tries to come near you. This kinda symbolises his struggle trying to find friends yet they all avoid him as much as they can.
His curse is actually that everything he touches dies, so even if somebody tries to befriend him they would die because of course. We can see in the video that everything runs away from him because it can feel that its starting to die in his presence. Poor plants can't do it so whenever he goes he leaves path of dead behind him. Second part of the the curse is that he can't die, he even tried to take his life in video by jumping out of the edge but those shadows (representing curse) wouldn't let him die.
So in short he can't die and can't be around others. By going to the town he basicly killed everybody and turn buildings into ruin

Do his attacks do friendly fire as well? I assume not, but that would be really thematically cool, making him super powerful but unable to work in proximity to the rest of the team. Would never work of course, because griefers would have a field day with it. But it's a cool thought.

@@SaltyCatling actually, amumu's curse is being immortal. The whole thing about him killing anything he touches is due to a brutal disease he has that causes flesh to instantly rot.
He was once a prince of shurima that would one day be the emperor, but his family and him were afflicted by said disease killing everyone but him. His only company was this Great Shaman's grandaughter, that felt so bad for him that in spite of knowing he was sick ran towards him and hugged him. Amumu hugged her back but when he looked at her she had already died. He was then cursed by the shaman to never be able to die and by doing so turning him into the single most miserable creature in the lands of Valoran.

Annie's father is her biological parent and marries her stepmother; whose daughter is Daisy. Her biological mother passed away but in the drawings show that she gave Mr. Tibbers to Annie as a means to always protect her. Also, Annie herself is born a mage who can control fire.
As for Amumu; he's a spirit that is cursed to be alone forever because everything he touches is dies or brought to ruin. There are different stories of who he was when he was alive because no one is really sure. They're just legends told by people of Shurima.

One quick note about Annie’s powers: they were inherited from her mother Amoline who was a witch. When Annie was a baby, her and her father fell ill, with Annie getting so hot her mother couldn’t hold her. Amoline went to fetch water from a nearby icy river and never returned, where it is implied that she drowned. Before her death she had finished the stuffed bear Tibbers for Annie not only as a companion but as a protector. It is implied a part of Amolines magic or soul remains inside to keep Annie safe.

when Fiddlestick meets Annie in the game he tells her "Annie...don't let go" which are his sister's last words before being swept away by the river, something that surely continues to haunt Annie to this day.

@@pinkypie140 not in lore, but when you play as Fiddlesticks he will speak different things depending on who the enemy team is playing. If I play with him against someone playing Annie, he'll speak Daisy's last words to her. If I play against Jinx, he'll say is all her fault (talking about arcane) and it goes on.
And if you look at the end of the Annie cinematic, you can see a Daisy burning.
As for how powerful Annie is. She is strong when she is scared, traumatized, angry or possess any kind of extreme negative emotion. Tibbers comes out to protect her when she is in trouble, but ultimately she doesn't know how to control her powers and she is still a child, she just becomes really powerful and destructive whenever she is in grave danger or stress.

Tibbers does indeed turn into a giant flaming bear. It responds to her emotional state and acts as her protector if she’s ever in any perceived danger.
If her stepmother wasn’t such a bitch in the first place and encouraged her to learn and control her powers none of this would have happened in the first place.
As far as Amumu goes others may have pointed out that his curse is 2 fold. 1) anything living that he touches dies. The second part is that he will remain forever alone and friendless. The torment he goes through mentally via the curse and the general lack of supports/friends means he sometimes gets so overwhelmed he literally explodes magic wise which tends to kill everything around him which is another reason why he can’t make friends. At least not in the town he partially and accidentally ruined

9:53 yes, that is Tibbers. Annie is like one of the youngest mages in lore, very powerful fire mage, her ult attack she sends Tibbers after you, a giant fire bear. Pretty much, assuming it hasn't changed, the bear was made by her mother and pretty much represented protection.
Interesting thing about Annie cinematic is it's the first (and I think the only one) that Riot fully made themselves, in-house. They usually outsource animations to various studios (one of them is Fortiche who worked on Arcane) - but Annie is fully made by Riot artists.
Also about the Tibbers - yes, in game he turns into a huge bear, it's Annie's ultimate.
Amumu's story always gets me on the verge of crying... Seriously, the thought of him being just a child, not understandind why he was cursed and why no one likes him, searching years for just someone, a friend. So exhausting and sad that it becomes too much for his tiny soul to handle all these emotions, making him destroy everything and turning him into a such a monster, and when he realises what he did, it's too late. Endless loop of lonelyness ;(

Amumu's curse is like the ultimate "monkey's paw" situation of someone who wishes to be immortal: to not only have to watch helpless as everyone around you grows and dies, but to actively cause pain and death to anything around you and never being able to be close to anyone. Literal eternity of loneliness and depression
Finally, you guys watched Annie! She is one of my favorite champions storywise. If you look at the drawings you can see hints of her previous family. Annie is a Fire Mage but this is why people wanna replicate magic so badly. She could technically manifest it anywhere she wanted but she concentrates so much on Tibbers because she was sentimentally attached to it from her last family. The thing was, her step mother pushed a child past her mental capacity by trying to destroy that last fragment of attachment to her feeling of security so Annie in response removed any sense of restraint. Don't forget this is a mage with no idea how to use her powers.

Unless they rewrote the story again, thats not the case.
Annie does indeed have magical abilities but the fire from Tibbers is not Annies powers manifesting.
Its a spell from her mother, her *real* mother, meant to protect her.
It responds to Annies emotional distress.
The last sequence where Tibbers takes full from may be Annies own powers, its not unlikely that scene is meant to symbolize that her own powers now has come into play as its the only time through the video where Annie is showing intent.
It still could just be a response to rage, its hard to tell.
But the three first times its very heavily underlined that Annies isnt doing anything, this happens without her knowledge or intention.

I just found out rather recently that Vi has her own theme song like Jinx called "Here Comes Vi" I highly recommend it, though there's no music video for it yet. There's also a mashup of Here Comes Vi and Get Jinxed sung by the original singers of their respective songs if you're into that

A lot of champs have theme songs. Another funfact which I just realized. The theme for ARAM - a mode on league of legends is also the theme song for Lissandra, the ice witch. That bridge in ARAM is actually one of the bridges into her home. Some of those theme songs and the theme songs for the regions are really very good.

Edit 1 (annie): As i recall , tibbers is the last thing annie received from her real mom (witch/mage if i remember correctly). Tibbers was made to protect annie.
Edit 2 (amumu): He was cursed to be alone forever, everything that comes close to him die. At some point the lore was that annie could come close to him (she was protected by her magic maybe?) and they became friends but riot changed the lore at some point. (they do change the lore from time to time)

Totally agree on the Tim Burton vibes for Curse of the Sad Mummy. Like, it's a very different art style, but it definitely has those Burton/Selleck-y vibes, especially in terms of the design of the environments. Those are some very Burton-y plants and cliffs. Also, fun fact, "Curse of the Sad Mummy" is actually the name of Amumu's ultimate ability in-game.
Annie's powers doesn't just manifest through tibbers the bear reacts trough her emotions when ever she is sad or angry so she doesn't have a control over her ability, also tibbers was the last thing her mother gave her before she died as you can see from her drawings

Some insights, Mr Tibbers is the last gift Annie's mother (who was a pursued witch) hand-crafted for her, so it's something really precious for Annie.
The wolf in Amumus music video actually was a teaser to Kindred, a champion that was released later. They are kind of a personification of death / grim reaper esque character that take the form of a lamb and a wolf who used to be one entity.
Yes, Annie's story had so much Powder vibes there alright. I believe Jinx and Annie would be able to empathize with one another, knowing that someone else also went through a similar tragedy in which she was the cause of it. In-game, Annie sounds like a cheerful little girl who loves to play games, you wouldn't think she came from something tragic.
There's a bunch of fanfics where Jinx's finds and adopts Annie.

These were the lyrics shortly before Amumu had his tantrum that destroyed the village he was in. I believe that the curse is literally he is forbidden from finding friends, happiness or peace. It could be why death has yet to claim him, several characters in the game have unique dialogue basically taunting him or putting him down in one way or another. Except, if I remember correctly, our loveable Braum! The big brawny mustache man from the Freljord has a positive dialogue option though I don't know if that's canon.
Overall a sad fate for a sad character.

Almost correct I would say, the reason he can't make any friends is that everything he comes close to will wither and die, so anyone that would come close enough to be his friend would die pretty quickly (as you can see with all the flowers and the like that wither when he walks by). I think at one point in the lore Annie was actually his friend but I am not sure if that is still the case.

Zaun was originally an extension of kingdom of Shurima. Shurima has many spirits that represent its continent. When Shurima extended to Zaun an emperor named Azir destroyed it's native statues of Janna the wind spirit, because people sailed to it and pushed toxic gas away. Azir destroying them made the winds stop coming and Zaun becoming a toxic city but some people still came to trade even as an underground trade city. When Piltover modernized they "pushed back the Shurimans" but left the under city in shambles but said it was part of Piltover now once they saw it was a port.
Fun fact, on one of the vinyl record transitions in Arcane, Annie and Daisy are seen on the cover of the Vinyl record, hinting that they could make it into the show.

Amumus curse is that he’s doomed to remain forever alone, in the music video he’s searching for a friend. His touch is death so that’s why he’s alone wandering for a friend, when he lost it and destroyed everything was his touch of death.

Such good animatics! In the game, Annie is Riot's version of Carrie (the stephen king book/movie). She is a fire mage and uses her powers to make Tibbers fight for her! And yes, Tibbers does become a giant bear!

If you notice in the video, everywhere Amumu goes, the plants and animals wither right behind him, because everything that goes near him dies, that's his curse. And he also has Tantrums which also destroys everything around him. Plus he's immortal, so he is cursed to be lonely for eternity.
"It's like you're looking at the music" I'm going to steal that, it's a perfect description.
The real sad thing about The Curse of the Sad Mummy is that there are so many people who will cry for poor Amumu and wish he would find a friend, but then when they find a real Amumu in real life they will treat him like the villains do.

I agree that Riot's experience making music videos enhanced how they utilize music in Arcane. Carlie's description is so accurate - the animation pairs so well that it's almost like you're watching the music. I think that's one of the biggest contributors to my enjoyment of the cinematics and Arcane. Whenever I listen to the Arcane OST I feel like I'm rewatching scenes in the show.
It's fun to see the way they experiment with art styles and music to tell a story. It feels like you can see the breadcrumbs of them flexing their artistic muscles.

Amumu is a story of a sad children that was cursed to eternal life of loniless, everything who come closer to him dies, in league game the champions you select to play have a brief interaction line, when we select them. Amumu line when you select him is: "I thought you'd never pick me.".
Annie animation talks by itself, in the drawer scene you see that Annie draws shows us that her mother died and her father is in his second marriage. Her mother a powerful mage saved her at cost of her own life when she was little and her spirit 'maybe' lives inside Tibbers, you can watch the scene of a woman in fire appearing inside tibbers at the end.
This is Cannon, it is happening in 'Arcane World', Runeterra.
In league there is another champion called Ivern, the friendly jungler. I can't remember too well so feel free to correct me but from what I remember, He is a warlord who was cursed to become a pasafist tree spirit and can't hurt creatures and only protects. His ultimate ability in game is to summon a rock gollem called daisy which has the soul of daisy from this. The way he could save her soul was to put her into a nearby rock. His ability is literally called daisy! And he says her name when he summons her. The golem also has daisys on it. Leagues lore is really expansive and I love how theres always connections between eachother
Hello there again! Saw that everyone was pointing out what is amumu's curse. The thing is not only his curse is to not have any friends, but there is a second part of the curse. If he touch anyone or anything it basicly dies. You can see that in the video, where he goes through the moon portal, right after that he is surrounded with flowers and as he touched it everything around started dieing. Also in his story there is a guy who had to cut his own arm to save his life, because amumu touched him ( he wanted to help him ).

In the Amumu video the Wolf is part of the character Kindred which is death in League of Legends. Kindred is the lamb that takes those that accept death peacefully, and wolf chases down those and give a violent death to those run from death. What makes it interested is Wolf is there, but not Lamb. Which means a peaceful death is not an option, but Wolf is an aggressive hunter, so him pathing around Amumu in curiosity shows that part of the curse is to live forever.
Amumu is a kid that was mummified (original lore might've been touched up) who was cursed to never have friends. So he spends eternity looking for friends he can never have. A quest that can never be completed, especially if you think about what matters the most to kids that age, it's their developmental phase of friends. The old website used to have a friends and enemies section, and Amumu's friend section was always blank
Riot is huge on the small details, like the meeting with Silco all the plants were alive and colorful at the start of the meeting, and dead at the end to give us an idea on how toxic the air was. In the Amumu video all the life around him ran, lost color to black, and the plants went dark and died out, to show an aura of death and despair around him (which is one of his abilities in game, he does damage to all those around him).
I've seen the Amumu video like 10 times and still cry every time, one of Riot's best

This is why amumu is one of my favorites. You guys should do a video reading up on some of these characters lore or after the cinematic look it up cause amumu's and annie's would make the cinematic make more sense.
So I just finish up your reactions to Arcane League of Legends. Your reactions were very genuine and I can relate with you guys. For the record that is one of the best series of all time, and I had the pleasure of watching it with my teenage Daughter(17). GREAT SHOW. Outstanding and a masterpiece of on-screen anime. They better bring it in season two.

Good point about the way Riot implement their music. I think the creators of Arcane once said that their vision was to make their "climax moment" scenes like music videos, which they obviously did perfectly everytime. Keep it up guys definetely my favourite reaction channel rn!

You also might wanna watch "Riot's 10 year anniversary video". Basically it was an event held by Riot to showcase various other games they were working on ( Valorant, Tales of Runeterra , etc. ) which we all the playerbase had no idea of. It was also the event when arcane got announced. The whole video is 1 hr long and basically contains in-game things, so I just recommend watching the first 10 ? minutes of the stream where essentially you get to know what the league community looks like. The first 10 min kinda acts as a intro to the 10th year anniversary event which I really recommend you guys to watch out. Love your amazing content

Actually never noticed it but when Annie's dad threw her out of the way it's the exact same animation used in Arcane Ep3 when the bomb went off and Powder was blown from the window.
Oh, yes. Always remember to listen very carefully to the words of the music in the musical League cinematics, because usually they are describing what the Champion does or as to what they are all about, and why they do that, in-game.
Also, because the cinematics are about League Champions, when you see things going on, keep in mind that Riot is just trying to capture and express 1, 2, or 3 of, or even the Ult abilities of the particular Champion(s) being highlighted in each cinematic.
Annie's 'real' mama gave her the bear. Annie misses her very much.
That is clearly expressed in Annie's drawings that shows her mama in the pictures, the woman drawn with the 'dark' hair is Annie's real mama. And then the pictures with the mama in the ground, now gone, and the new 'blonde' haired woman over with her father is shown, and it is displaying how Annie really feels about that woman.
And her father loves Annie deeply. And he knows what she does and understands, accepts, and loves Annie just as she is, which is why he lovingly calls her firefly. ❤
Something the 'step'mother just can't accept. She doesn't like, at all, how Annie's father accepts her, favors her, and loves her. She does not accept Annie. She doesn't like her. In fact, in the cinematic, you can clearly see how Annie, being a natural child Firestarter, how this partially scares, and totally freaks out the woman. She clearly makes preference over her daughter, and favors her (Daisy), and does not accept Annie just for who she is, and makes no attempts to try to truly love her, or understand her, in the same way that her father does.
So you can imagine how Annie had to feel when the "other woman" that her father got together with doesn't like, or truly accept Annie as she is, and is constantly saying bad things about Annie to her father.
And Annie really did try to save Daisy but what happens is, if it isn't too clear, or obvious, is that because Annie is a natural Firestarter child, she doesn't quite handle it, or control it well just yet. So whenever she is under any stress or pressure, or emotional distress of any kind, whatsoever, such as fear, anxiety, worry, scared, hurt, anger, pain, etc..., she starts the fires. 🔥
And of course Annie adores and loves her daddy deeply too. So she didn't want him to die in the fire either.
Just another reason why Annie is so devastated at the end of the cinematic.
Then, to make matters worse, that 'woman' has the nerve to be accusing Annie, and acts as if Annie hasn't already suffered great loss before, with her mama!
And then, as any intelligent person knows, you NEVER EVER take away a precious toy or item from a child who has lost a parent, and that toy or item was from their beloved parent, and try to destroy it!
Which is what the mistake that this woman makes here.
So how would you feel?
Which is what totally breaks Annie at that point.
And so Annie has Tibbers takes care of the rest of 'that' situation.
And Amumu is cursed to never EVER be close to anyone, to never be able to hug or love anyone, like, even just to simply hold a hand, or to even have a friend, because when he touches things they are cursed too, and wither away, turn black, and die.
He is forever alone, and very very sad. Deeply sad and depressed.
Oh, and the "Tantrum" is also an ability of his, in his in-game kit. He does a swirl around him for damage.
And he walks around all sad, asking for a friend, and also saying to let's be friends, etc.
Oh man, I long to see more Champions in Arcane. And the regions too!

Come on now, when Jinx drops the crystal, and the crow, "CAW!", and even more crow moments in that scene, and others too.
For all we know, maybe the demonic influenced crows turn out to know about Jinx's voices in her head, and use those to be influencing or manipulating her, to get ahold of, or seize the Crystal! 🤔

Annie's mother had a witch-wizard lineage. She never knew, but Annie would know after her death. Tibbers is the stuffed animal that her mother made for her before giving birth to her. Her mother is inside Tibbers, her protector. That's why Annie is a magician and very strong at 8 years old. One detail is that Ivern found Daisy (her stepsister) dead on the banks of the river and turned her into a flower, and that flower is on Deisy's head, Ivern's bulk.
I don't know if it is still canon but, Annie and Amumu meet in the lore, and she is immune to his curse so they become friends.
The amumu cinematic is my favorite of the Riot cinematics as it’s so unique art style and the music is so amazing at the story telling
I think the other comments explain everything well, I would just like to add that in the amumu one fueres a shadow of a wolf that’s one part of kindred, who is kind of a reaper. We see him again in spirit blossom. And I will like to suggest the video: Varus- as we fall. It’s a bit more heavy but a good one and spirit blossom.
Someone may have told you this already but keep in mind that there is a separation between the characters in game and characters in lore (and lore related medium). In game focus is obviously on two teams fighting it out and not much lore comes out of it, while these shorts give so much and are loved by fans of the game. This is why Arcane means so much to players.

Amumus curse is that everything touches dies and that he will forever be alone. This visualized in the video when the path amumu takes starts darkening behind him
You can see that everything around Ammumu dies or stays away from him. In fact, the course is so powerfull, that even Kindred (te wolf), doesnt approach him much, you can check in the forest scene.
"Does Riot have any happy stories?"
You know, this comment of yours really got me thinking. So I poured over the character roster (haven't really played it in a few years though) and interestingly enough the one thread running through the overwhelming majority of the characters who aren't villains (and even some of the ones who are, ie Jinx) is some sort of deep trauma. They've got it all: Either you or another party murdered your family, cursed by something terrible, etc etc....
But there are two very particular moments that come to mind, for me. The first of these being the release of Kai'sa, Kassadin's (supposed) daughter who was lost to the Void. This was a story-line set up 5 or more years in the making where Kassadin was one of the first heroes and many years later his daughter's survival was confirmed.
The other similar bright spot is when another older character named Lucian fought Thresh in order to save someone. This story has a cinematic to it so I won't spoil much more. It was another character release, many many years in the making.
Are these "happy" stories? Not really, but bittersweet and emotional, just like Arcane. Kudos for your reactions.

Just a suggestion, maybe you guys won't check it out but I'll still say what it is, "The lamb and the wolf - Kindred voice lines". I don't know why no one EVER suggests this but maybe it's because it's just a conversation between a lamb and a wolf but I find the conversation very interesting(centered around death).
Kindred is a champion from League of Legends which consists of, as I said before, a Lamb and a Wolf.... You'll realize that lamb sounds innocent and kind but yet danger lies there and she knows a lot while wolf sounds gruff but is so innocent!!🖤
What is he looking?
- a friend. just a friend.
One of the champions in the game Kindred is a personification of death in this universe and has a backstory that he was so lonely that he took and axe and split himself into two, so he would always have a friend.
And he has an interaction in game when he is close to amumu:
"We understand your loneliness but,... stay away."
Not even death wants him.

Annie and Amumu are early League champions, (both coming out in beta before the game officially launched) so at first it seemed a bit odd that they got these videos (which are usually reserved for new champions). Just speculating but I think the reason probably had to do with them revamping the lore of Runeterra they did to strengthen their world building and create the amazing lore that we see now in the stories they want to tell with the game and their new projects like Arcane. Annie and Amumu were slightly silly/goofy champions made when the company was much smaller and they were just trying to rush out a roster of playable champions. A little pyro girl and her demon teddy bear and a sad little cursed mummy who just wants a friend. How could they make them fit into the more serious lore of this world of mages, dragons, and void monsters?
I believe Amumu was the first mixed media release in their push to tell the stories of Runeterra about 7 years ago. By creating this beautiful song about the lore of this slightly silly champion they ground him with a more serious backstory that better fits into the stories they want to tell. Same with Annie. She isn't just this ridiculous little out of place girl hitting you with fireballs and dropping her giant flaming teddy bear on you. They gave her a sad backstory that helps you see her in a more serious light.
Fun fact! Near the end of Get Jinxed, Tibbers is in Jinx's conquest pile.

Others told u how Christian Linke is also the showrunner for Arcane. But we just cant stress enough how well that paints Arcane as a passion project. Linke is a guy of pure love for the craft, an artist himself. Thats why the show will always stand above anything the usual media landscape will come up with, despite Arcanes critical acclaim
I definitely got major Tim Burton vibes from the Amumu video, very reminiscent of nightmare before Christmas and the general dark stop motion animation aesthetic that he created.

From what I understand; the story goes - Annie's birth Mom was a mage who got sick & sadly died when Annie was still very young - Timbers was a gift from her that would be her companion& protecter & her father (who was in the cinematic) had remarried a woman who had a little girl (Daisy) just a bit older than Annie.
Apparently; Annie's- being a mages offspring had pyro-manifestation abilities & when in distress caused by fear or anger channeled thru Mr.Tibbers as her guardian.
Did Annie have psychological issues? - perhaps. But what small child wouldn't be damaged by the trauma Annie & baby Jinx (Powder) have been through?
One observation to bring here is, the only one can survive the curse of Amumu is Annie.
She is the only living being can not die for the him curse!!!

You're right about everything a bit more tragic than arcane. There are several stories in the lore that are so tragic just reading it, I can't wait to see it animated in the show.
I really hope that they don't change the Brackern and Skarner stuff in the Arcane universe. I *want* to see Jayce and Viktor find out about what they're using. I imagine that could be in a few seasons' time, with Ezreal being introduced and finding all of that out, either after being on an expedition in Shurima, or just stumbling on it. Sivir and Ezreal team-up, and them splitting ways, with the last thing seen of Sivir being her being accosted by a noblewoman. *That*, I think, would be awesome.

i don't know if anybody answered it already, but the Amumu's curse is actually that he is condemned to immortality but anythings that gets near him dies very soon, that's why whenever he walks in the forest, the plants are dying behind him.
just to lift your spirits up a tad, Amumu actually recently got a friend in the form of Vex! (a league champion) cause she has a voice line where she says "you're sad AND dead?...we should hang out." and i don't know if this is actually canon or not but I DONT CARE CAUSE IN MY HEAD AMUMU HAS A FRIEND AND I AM SO HAPPY FOR HIM

All we know about Amumu is that he was cursed in his life and that curse followed him and the curse is that everything he touches literally decay and that make things hard for him cause he will never make friends in his life even Kindred ( which is the essence of death in the World of Runeterra Rejected him ) so that's pretty it his goal in his life is to make friends that he could hug but sadly it won't happen because everything he touches die and get destroyed he is an old champion so it's story is a bit old we hope to see him reworked with a more hyping story and effect in the world
Fun fact, Annie The Dark Child is Noxians so it’s a high chance we might see her featuring next season when Arcane unfold more about Noxus.
If I remember corretcly Amumu is was a sick child of an emperor in the empire of shurima, they couldn't cure him and he died by his disease. Shurima had this whole thing with harnessing the power of the sun throught the "arcane" to make "ascendants", basically creating god-like beings. Here's a theory, what if Amumu was sick, they tried to have him go throught ascension to cure him, only for it to "fail" and he dies (it has failed before when Xerath, another character, sabotaged the ritual for Azir). But the ascencion didn't fail, like Azir it just needed some catalyst to finish. And now his "blessing of ascencion" is the curse that kills everything, but him. In the actual Lore not even death itself (the Kindred) want's his soul (eventually they will take it, but it emplies that Amumu either searched for death itself to end his misery, or hopefully, as it is the loneliest being in existence, to understand and befriend him) , the wolf that follows in the shadows in the clip is literally death, the Kindred tells him that, being death itself and all that, they understand Amumu loneliness, but tells him to "stay away".

I can't say League is the best at misery, but it's in good company. Honkai Impact is probably the best at conveying how dark the story gets with its animations (which are the cutscenes in game).
