Thanks Jason, You will retain some of the stock (or aftermarket) wiring. Since our gauge kit includes sensors and specific harnesses for Oil Pressure, Water Temp and Speedometer, this will take care of a percentage of the installation process.
Hello JJ, Thanks for checking in. A few downstream items could cause this type of symptom. I'd suggest contact our Tech Support crew at 800-852-3228 or techsupport@dakotadigital.com to review the installation
Yes indeed, we would suggest the addition of our BIM-01-2-HAL, an interface which allows the instrument cluster to communication directly with the Haltech system.
Thank you Christopher, While this Camaro kit will not fit within your Firebird, we do offer a direct-fit package to suit your Firebird. Take a look at Dakotadigital.com to see the full range.
All kits include a pulse generator which threads onto the transmission in place of the mechanical cable. This generator creates the required speed signal and sends it to the control box via the supplied 10' harness.
then that sucks for you then, Dakota digital. that's a deal breaker for me, we want custom image capability, plus more customization ability, make Dakota digital great fully customizable not just an expensive dash trademark. we want digital gauges that look insane like a gundam wing spaceship gauges, like vector aircraft digital readouts and such. more like future spaceship spacecraft stuff, i'm making my own. ihave a pro touring widebody 1981 camaro its $255,000 for sale and nothing like it has ever been seen going to reveal to public with my own design propulsion system in place, never needs fuel, never needs recharged. constant running condition. 2,000,000 million watts power quadracond. iwant you to sponsor and build this for me and in my design so your name can be on the car.
My '69 Charger is a manual, but all the pictures I see for a '69 Charger Dakota Digital gauge cluster have the automatic transmission readout displayed (P R N D 1). Can I toggle that off, or will that just always be displayed? Also, I'm disappointed that my original thumbwheel switch to dim the panel won't work with a Dakota Digital dash. When are you guys going to come out with a reproduction thumbwheel switch for dimming?
Thanks for the reply, Yes, when a manual transmission is used, the gear indicator is disabled. The displays around it will increase in size, using up the available space. Sorry, no current plans for a reproduction thumbwheel dimmer.
Sure, Dakota Digital offers several variations to suit your '76 Camaro, here's a link: www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=results/category_id=422/mode=cat/cat422.htm
I wish they would make a good looking cluster for a Pontiac grandville
Nice! I am installing the HDX right now into my 71 Nova on my channel :)
Where is a good ground for the 2 monetary switches under the dash or should I ground them to the factory ground wire in the dash harness? Thanks
Hey there Dickey,
The two switches can be grounded right with the control module, keeping the wiring consolidated.
@@DakotaDigitalTV so should I ground the control box from a ground wire from the car or the ground wire from the dash harness? Thanks
@@dickeymoore4264 We would suggest grounding the control boxes, and switches, to a solid ground point in the vehicle.
@@DakotaDigitalTV ok Thanks
would this work on a 1980 camaro sport coupe
Thank you Mike,
Yes, this kit will also fit the 1980 model.
@@DakotaDigitalTV thank you
So can you use this with factory wires and stuff

My hdx gauges speedometer jumps when I'm above 50 mph...plus or minus 10mph....what do u think is the issue?

What steering wheel is that?
What do you do with the old speedometer cable?
The stock speedometer cable is removed, replaced by the included pulse generator. This device converts this over to electronic.
Will this work with the Haltech system?
Yes indeed, we would suggest the addition of our BIM-01-2-HAL, an interface which allows the instrument cluster to communication directly with the Haltech system.
Will it work on my 1978 Pontiac Firebird???

My '74 Camaro is not computerized....how would these gagues work with my speedometer cable?

@@DakotaDigitalTV thanks Ive been trying to figure this out
@@DakotaDigitalTV Do you need to buy a control box or does it com with one
@@werewolfman186 A control module is included with all Dakota Digital instrument systems.
Can I change the dakota digital logo on sweep to a custom image?
No, customizing the startup screen is not an option. Thanks!
DakotaDigitalTV that’s too bad.
