Today I take a look at some new gear I got in from Sitka, OTTE Gear and Brownells Inc.
I’ve definitely come to appreciate good technical clothing and Sitka definitely makes some. I have two new pieces from them, their Traverse Hoody, which is kind of a mid layer fleece with some cool qualities. And also their Kelvin Lite Down Jacket, which is warm, lightweight and packable.
From OTTE Gear, I got their new chest rig. They make a lot of great gear and recently came out with the Universal Chest Rig (harness) and Universal Placard which work great together or can be used with other setups.
Lastly, who doesn’t love a comeback story? I got the Gen 2 version of the Brownells BRN-180 in 7.62×39. I had a number of issues with the Gen 1 which in part led to a recall. But I think they got it sorted so I’ll give it another go.

Hey man, just a word from a sitka nerd. The traverse will not cut wind hardly at all, it's definitely a "fashion" piece, at the very most to be worn under a rain or wind jacket.
Their new Mountain Evo jacket is an ultra light weight windproof (goretex infinium) jacket. Super thin and only weights 13oz.
Kelvin down is phenomenal but I've found it to be a bit more fragile than other down jackets I've got.
Hope this isn't just word vomit!

My Sitka hoodie is the best thing I own....I've worn it so much the fabric is funded up wear my beard sits on it.....awesome content. Thanks Ivan

There's an old Sootch00 video where he shot the crap out of the hood of his truck. It definitely seemed like an expensive oopsie for him. I forget what rifle he was shooting tho.

@mrstevemassa thanks for the good info. I noticed on some dots that in certain lighting conditions it will reflect off the emitter and do that, that sounds pretty extreme though good to know
