Hell yes and for how long you want..... I heard a story one time that Hank Junior gave him a shirt, The black one you see on Austin city limits performance... that wasn’t just stage he wore that shirt every day didn’t wash it and never took it off.. The tour bus even signed a petition asking him to take it off because it was so rank, Stevie did not change that shirt until he come across another one he liked better...
Bro, he looks awesome, and he liked it! i think if you look good as hell, you know you feel confident, you might feel more secure when you play guitar... anyway he rocks that style like no one else and is screams SRV so i think its not about fashion its more about him being himself.
Absolutely he’s my hero he’s my inspiration not only to play guitar but be a wonderful person! I was born five years after he left to play on the clouds in heaven. Poor man didn’t deserve that. The dude had to fly srv. But if your a huge fan and you fail you pilot test you would say Stevie I’d love to fly you but I can’t. The pilot knew he couldn’t do it he new he would have trouble. If Stevie would have known I bet he would have flew! A dumb ass pilot blew it for the whole world and generations to come!
I think a lot of non musicians dont realize that; they say like: "well he is so talented", talent is one thing but being good at something still requires so much practice which most people dont realize.
I couldn't agree more, he was a triple threat; guitar playing, singing and songwriter. "Life without you" really shows what a master communicator srv was and still is with his audience. There's no one like him!
it sucks that he died but I think him getting sober before his unfortunate death is honorable and not him dying as an addict. I think he would think so too. He sure was proud of his sobriety.
There is something so sweet and innocent about this interview. I come back to this one often just to watch it again when I'm missing him. He was so special. ❤
+Mark S agreed! there will never be another. but what i love is learning there stuff to carry with you as in them in spirit. not to imitate or be a knock of of them.
He speaks so humbly and gentle. Man he really was a beautiful human being wasn't he. Even though I'm just a teen from this generation I love old music, it's the best and by far SRV is my Favourite. Truly feel sad for his passing. RIP SRV

I Am Sincerely Blessed To Have Seen Him So Often During His Short Touring Career - Those Memories Are Keepers!! Stevie Was Even More Awesome After Working HARD To Break His Cocaine & Alcohol Addictions In Late 1986...& He Went On To Share His Story & Encourage Others To Turn Away From Them As Well & Live A Life - Till He Left Us In August Of 1990....He Loved People & Really CARED About Helping Them & Loved Entertaining His Audiences & Sharing His Music! Adrian Avila he was the first to credit the 3 kings as major influences, as well as Jimi, billy gibbons, Clapton etc etc. every great developed on the shoulders of the giants that came before them. That being said, Stevie took what had been done and truly elevated the genre through his talent. He transcended musically because of his otherworldly talent. Dude was destined for greatness no matter the instrument
What? This guy is a tool. He didn't have a clue. Those were just generic questions that he probably asks everybody. Twice, SRV tried to talk about his brother, and this guy was oblivious. This guy had no idea who SRV's brother was. Jimmie Vaughan, some have argued, is a better guitar player than his younger brother Stevie. Within the blues community, Jimmie was famous before Stevie even graduated high school. Jimmie introduced Stevie to all the right people and that's how SRV got a recording contract. And the "you were discovered by Mick Jagger" crap He wasn't "discovered" by anybody. He was flying on the coat-tails of his older brother. And it was David Bowie, not Mick Jagger, who offered Stevie a job. SRV, intelligently, declined Bowie's offer and started his own band, Double Trouble.
ive been an addict for 32 years now. he brings me such comfort. i dig. i lift. i lie. i get sick. i disappoint. i let others down. i love. im greatful. im so glad stevie came along. i listen daily. he helps me go on. i love him and his boys in double trouble. they all were truly good souls
Knuckles Malone It's hard to find reasons to go through the misery and pain of getting clean after over 30 years of addiction. I hope you are able to find a reason for you and get the medical help a person needs to get well. Best of luck, It can be done and it's worth it.
Hey Knuckles...there are a few really good SRV interviews here on RUclips where Stevie discusses his addictions and how he got help. Please check out "The Lost Stevie Ray Vaughan Interview". If he is your hero, man....seriously, watch it...over and over again. Peace.
@@andysanchez9108 hey Andy, I love that interview. Seen it many times. Of course scrolling through the comments and opening this one lead me to your message and I went and watched it again as soon as this video ended. I use to be sad and not angry but maybe a bit frustrated he was taken from us so soon. I was 8 and a half when I got the news. My mom actually told me as we were putting our shoulder pads in the trunk after little league football practice. It’s a moment I’ll never forget. For me personally, even though I’d never met him, it was the first person i “knew” who passed. For years I was selfish in only thinking MAN! Imagine the music he would have created, the people he would have collaborated with, etc etc...all music based. Now? Now I am maybe more sad than ever bc after watching that again it resonated in a whole different way than before. The advocate and voice he would have been for addiction and helping people would have been amazing. He was so open about it and breaks it down to the most simple purest form to where maybe just maybe someone who has never had any addiction problems could understand. The biggest hang up I’ve unfortunately witnessed is those who don’t know, don’t know! I get it though, they really don’t get it and how could they!? It’s something I wouldn’t wish on my own worst enemy. It has such a stigma and people are so quick to judge. Some never change their minds ab those who have beaten it. This is some, maybe most? But not all people...and Once a person’s addiction comes to light they’ll always see you as that person. Stevie would have been a phenomenal asset to have, not only thru his music, but through his own personal struggles and passion to bring clarity to what is legitimately a disease.
I've watched this before but never really thought about it. SRV has been a hero of mine since I was a kid. Not long after he died. I took up playing guitar but gave up on it after I figured out how to play everything I wanted to play. Mostly Stevie Ray and Jimi. Seeing him like this hurts me because I have issues with alcohol. I knew he had problems and cleaned up and I know I can too. RIP SRV. You still teach me something new every day and I love you for it. Peace.
When asked if he is he is the fastest guitar in Texas, he humbly answers well , if someone wants to battle I do it from time to time as he bows his head in shyness then looks up with the smile of a gun slinger .
Andrew Dog-Gone Waylon Have you listen to the song rude mood? It’s the song that earned him the nickname fastest gun in the west by radio disc jockey... It’s an instrumental that was just a show opener prior to the days of scuttle button
His song he started playing at 6:43 called Life Without You.. I love that song and can relate to it so much. Man, even during his using years he was still a humble gentle human.. but I can't even imagine how much his characteristics really shinned and came out after he got sober. As a recovering addict myself you can just look at him and sense hes using.. maybe even under the influence during this interview. As a recovering addict myself, you get like 6th sense to that stuff. But after he got sober in 86 ive heard and read stories in recovery about how Stevie would take time out of his day and listen to peoples stories and encourage them to keep going with sobriety. Him getting sober brought his guitar playing to a whole nother level, too. Not only one of the best musicians of all time, but one of the best, nicest, humble human to ever bless this world. His music and personality is still touching people till this day. 🎸🤠🙏🏾🇨🇱
Wow what an excellent interview. Notice stevie constantly turning the vol and tune knobs on the guitar to find that perfect sound, one of a kind. Legendary
What a nice thing to say about his brother! I liked the interviewer...he was very positive and really connected to Stevie who was always a great interviewee IMHO.
I don't agree that they had something that can't be replaced. I don't think either of these legends and great human beings can or should be 'replaced', or that anything ABOUT either of them can or should be 'replaced', but I do believe that both of them would agree that what they brought to the world is something that exists in all of us and that first and foremost, we should be seeking to find that within ourselves and share it with each other. Maybe we don't need to aspire to be guitar heroes, but to share that humility and love for one another. To make a REAL difference that will outlast us. Show the world that you are vulnerable and a human being that can be hurt just as they can, and you will have the respect and love of many because you are exposing your heart in a way that most people are too afraid to.
Both of those guys had time to play a lot before getting famous. Every kid with talent these days winds up on YT, and gets at least temporarily well known. The drive to work hard enough, for long enough, takes time to grow into an insatiable hunger that makes the great ones great.
That guitar (1st wife)belonged to Christopher Cross, who was tired of it and wanted a different sound. Stevie was like, she's beautiful---I'll take it!
Stevie struggled with drugs and seemed to be at his personal best when clean. And then he died. I wasn’t really into him at that time, yet I realized that he had just sobered up...and when I heard he died in a helicopter crash (I remember where I was at the time), my heart broke. A real legend.
EVERYTIME I get sick of my guitars, I come on here and watch some SRV, and it gives me the motivation to keep on going, just like his little radio would have for him, well his brother, who is a great player, SRV is my personal fav, trying harder and harder to capture some of his music and put it into my own, no way can I play with 13 gauge strings though, 10s are as high as I like to have mine
Saw Stevie at a jazz festival in 1985. Closed out the show. Simply amazing energy start to finish. This guy had the gift. Sure miss his heart and soul. Life without you, Stevie. It just ain't the same.

He is the easiest going super star ive ever watched in an interview. Stevie was just a real down to earth man, Very open to talk to and does not act better than everyone else like most of them these days.
Stevie Ray Vaughan was what u call common and easy person to like..humble young man..Stevie is sensational and became a legend..smart in the blue's and rock n roll and sings and is married to his guitars..love listening to Stevie's music..Stevie Ray Vaughan will always be MISSED ..RIP Stevie
So sad to see him when he was in the midst of addiction. He really came alive after he got sober. Sadly, we probably never saw the best he had to give us. What he left us is a treasure though. One of a kind... 30 years later, he's still. Sorely missed.
Man, an excellent guitarist and a sense of humor. :D "You were 'discovered'?" "Yeah, I popped out and my parents said there he is!" Best guitarist ever. Wish he were still here :(
It is a testament to the kind of man he was that even at the time when he was consuming industrial amounts of coke he did not come off as a hyper douchebag like most would, but rather as a humble and kind man.
Even though the interviewer is obviously from a different world , he really asked some great questions and was very cool... he got Stevie showing some stuff!!!! Thank you for posting this!!!!!!
Met Stevie Ray at Stubbs Barbecue in Lubbock Tx 1978 or 79. He and his band was very nice and humble. They talked to their fans after the show. To this day I'm still a huge SRV fan and I'll continue to buy any of their music. RIP Stevie Ray!
I don't know how many times I've seen this, I still get chills and get inspired.....and see little things about him and his playing that I never noticed before......RIP Stevie. You are a huge inspiration in my life 🖤💕🌹💕🖤
Stevie had so much conviction the soul and passion of his playing was like a rocket just incredible, sure do miss him what a humble person he was there was only one SRV ...
Very few originals come along in this world....and he was one of the great one. He was real from the heart and it came through in his music like few others....modern day "artists" could learn loads from this legend.
Thank you for uploading this. As Ray Wylie Hubbard stated "our Mr. Vaughn was best that there ever was" in his song about Texas Artists, I agree with him and am proud that he hailed from my home in Texas. Thank you again.
Gosh this man was special. I've never witnessed so much humility, and always giving his brother Jimmy so much respect and love. RIP SRV. You're my hero.
Great interview! SRV was humble and had a love for music some won’t understand, great personality just genuine!! He stayed true! So happy my Pops jammed to REAL music and Rip 2018 Pops enjoy paradise and hope your shaking it up wherever you are man! Thanks SRV for being you
THE BEST! When you feel it and go with the feeling you have the talent...there are those who can play incredible and there are those who play and pull you into and make you cry...SRV FOREVER!
+vincent vega Absolutely! So rare for an interviewer to let the interviewee express themselves without interrupting, and he doesn't come across as false whatsoever. Great video!
I searched for the host information because it was driving me crazy! I am pretty sure I saw this actual interview back when I was 13!! And yes, I am Canadian! The host is Peter Feniak...I think this is one of the best interviews I have ever seen! SRV fan since 83...RIP Stevie.
When you can play guitar like him, you can wear whatever the hell you want.

I think a lot of non musicians dont realize that; they say like: "well he is so talented", talent is one thing but being good at something still requires so much practice which most people dont realize.
the feel is that empty void that only a guitar tone can fill
people talk about his guitar playing of course - but geez he had a real distinctive original singing voice .
It was kind of one of those love it or hate it voices. But nobody sane didn't dig his guitar playing :)
I loved it BTW
as a kid i hated his voice but today i love it it is sooooo hard do dublicate
I know, he had a great voice and I don't think I ever heard anybody say that even once.

"you feel it first, then you learn how to do it" God I love that!!!! So True!!

It pissed me off

He sure was, Ty. He spoke of it often, and when he did speak of his sobriety, you could hear the pride in his voice.
so sad story!
he loved his coke,a complete addcit

“When did you fall in love with guitar?”
“Immediately.”
Man, that was quick. Such a good answer.

Wow what an interview. The host was so respectful genuine questions.
Don’t see that anymore.
He's proud of his birth gender.
"If I didn't(feel emotion) then I shouldn't be here" such a humble guy.
it irritates me when you here people say someone is the next SRV or the next Hendrix etc..There is only 1 SRV, 1 hendrix.
A-fuckin'-men!!
+Mark S good, it's like... just be yourself, everybody
Yeah I think letting people influence you is good but become yourself SRV did that really well.

Yes very true. They influence us and we take pieces of what the teach us

The host does give him respect, hats off!
He went through some things and a lot were self induced but he put those things to good use and gave us all his heart through his music.
One of the greatest of all time. Humble, honest and brilliant. Taken way too young.
holy shit I never knew that Stevie was using jimi's wah.
Ryan Beasley see Canada is good for something.
So glad I got to see him in 1987. He is still greatly missed and loved. 😢❤ His music will always live on. ✌🏻❤️🌼
The interviewer let Stevie talk about the Blues and it's influence.
Good respect.
"If I didn't feel it, I shouldn't be there". Thats all there is for any artist.
Met Stevie Ray at Stubbs Barbecue in Lubbock Tx 1978 or 79. He and his band was very nice and humble. They talked to their fans after the show. To this day I'm still a huge SRV fan and I'll continue to buy any of their music. RIP Stevie Ray!
what a cool chill dude, nothin better than seeing someone being honest and expressing themselves, awesome.
Stevie Ray Vaughan is a legend of blue's and rock..great singer and great entertainer..always humble and gives a fantastic performance..The Best

There was only one SRV and the Lord new it,he was a true player and played like an angel, thank God I was able to see him 5 times
One of the best interviews with a world class musician I've ever seen.
Lovely vocals in that song
Stevie had so much conviction the soul and passion of his playing was like a rocket just incredible, sure do miss him what a humble person he was there was only one SRV ...
He was AWSOME - God Gifted 🙏 R.I.P.
Classic Stevie, whips out a Jimi tune! you gotta love it
Stevie Ray Vaughan was a beautiful soul.. Sadly missed... 🙏🙏
Very few originals come along in this world....and he was one of the great one. He was real from the heart and it came through in his music like few others....modern day "artists" could learn loads from this legend.
To learn you have to care about the subject. They don't.
Sweet humble Soul Stevie .... Angels on your shoulder
" if somebody wants to battle, I'll do it!" Great answer..
SRV and much respect to host for being honest and genuine.
He’s way more comfortable playin and singing than just talking! Hope to see him in the after life!
A real legend..SENSATIONAL..Stevie Ray Vaughan
what a great interview!! from both sides. what a man ♡
As an angel he shines bright in heaven as he did here on earth
He once told an interviewer, with a smile, that he got most of his clothes at truck stops. Perfect.
He actually had a high priced fashion designer for his stage clothing.
Thank you for uploading this. As Ray Wylie Hubbard stated "our Mr. Vaughn was best that there ever was" in his song about Texas Artists, I agree with him and am proud that he hailed from my home in Texas. Thank you again.
"..or you can STANG it", LOL.
What an inspiration... I have no words
The bloke interviewing him is 👍👍👍.
Gosh this man was special. I've never witnessed so much humility, and always giving his brother Jimmy so much respect and love. RIP SRV. You're my hero.
Reporter reminds me of the first time hearing my uncle jam. Just makes you laugh and smile at how amazing it is.
Well said Maximum GutaRAGE
In the presence of one of the greatest musicians who ever lived....Lucky man. 😎
Love the fact when he says ''show me how you put feeling in a note'' then SRV proceeds to play Castle made of sand by Jimi
He is sorely missed..
The interviewer has a killer look. Great upload, thanks.
Stevie always reminds me to play for the love of it.
Stevie was great way beyond his music.
when he say show me out to put feeling into it
he plays castles made of sand by jimi

A god among men, you are missed dearly my friend. Hope all is well in your world SRV!!
tim teague 😢😢
What a gem! Thanks for sharing!
who is this guy, he's an extremely good interviewer...
+vincent vega Absolutely! So rare for an interviewer to let the interviewee express themselves without interrupting, and he doesn't come across as false whatsoever. Great video!
Absolutely! Great interviewer, no hidden sarcasm, not drawing any attention to SRV's obvious intoxication... A real gentleman of an interviewer.
vincent vega Stevie so done with him
must be canadian
I searched for the host information because it was driving me crazy! I am pretty sure I saw this actual interview back when I was 13!! And yes, I am Canadian! The host is Peter Feniak...I think this is one of the best interviews I have ever seen! SRV fan since 83...RIP Stevie.
