We need a player on the left like Saka able to take the ball under pressure and beat his man 1v1 I think Mitoma would be better than Rashford - he could also be moved inside to 8 in game to break mid blocks with transitional pace. Also Douglas Luiz to replace Thomas Partey - he’s exceptional taking the ball in the block under pressure keeping possession and playing through the lines. These are the profiles we’re missing, real ballers essentially. We have technique, physicality and speed, we just need more chaos unpredictability in key areas to go that next level.
The reason I wouldn't want Douglas Luiz is because I don't think he could play a single pivot, Bruno Guimaraes is a tough guy who covers a lot of ground while also giving on the ball qualities of someone like Partey. We need a deep lying playmaker to help progress defense to attack and is reliable. I worry about Zubimendi, we've seen before with Partey that some players just can't physically handle the premier league and I think this position is so crucial it's not worth making a mistake. My priority would be Bruno Guimaraes, followed by Zubimendi and Kimmich Also a reminder that Douglas Luiz is reported to have a market value of 80-100 million the same as Bruno G.
Rice needs a profile like Jorginho or Partey next to him in the 6 to get passes through the lines to Ødegaard and the 8, we've seen too many times Rice not able to make the difficult passes personally Bruno G, Zubimendi and Kimmich can replicate that

The comparisons to pep is somewhat a bit of a fail. Arteta and Pep's teams are in totally different stages in the development, the defensive side of City is allready coached quite nicely in and therefore pep can release the maverics more since the most of them are conscious of their defensive mindset vs offensive mindsets during the transmissions. My prediction is that Arteta now trusts the defenders and midfield more to cope with the defensive work, that he will unleash Saka, Martinelli and the other players more further up on the pitch next season since our defensive baseline is good and well coached. (in my eyes, phase 3 is defensive organization. phase 4 is releasing the offensive power and reaching the PL goals (trophy)
