- A new subscriber has asked me about the fillers I use. I hope this video helps him and others.
Terry of the "model car body shop". @Terry-390 . Thanks to D. @dvdw_graphics_crafts for a great idea to incorporate into the widebody conversion.
Thanks to Tim @THROTTLEPOWER for another fantastic series of vids.

That's all i ever used in the body shop Holts got the nick name stoppers some interesting ideas for the hatch back and great shout outs love Terry's work 👍👍
Yes,I've used Holts products for years on all sorts👍👍. I've bought a U-pol product. A 2 part glazing putty. I'll try that on future builds🤞
Thanks a bunch, for the shout out. I am so fascinated with the bodywork on these cars. Keep doing what you do. 👍
I like to help get you off the ground. All,intelligent questions are welcome here. Hope you can get hold of a filler you like, several people have recommended Bondo #907C 2 part glazing putty, it's reasonably priced👍😃
@@petesmodelcarcustoms584 Thanks Pete
Great shout outs and some great options for filling seams . 😊
Thanks Craig👍😃. From the feedback I got,the best option in the states is Bondo #907C. It's a 2 part glazing putty used in the automotive industry 👍😉
Looks good the painting on that torino and you did great doing the model building Pete
I'm glad you like it ,Theo 👍😃
Nice shout out for Terry. Never heard of Holts before. There are similar products. I've thought about but have never made sprue goo. Interesting idea for the grill jig. If you decide to make it I would Love to see it. I'll be watching
Good morning Mike. Holts are an old and trusty British company. The go to stuff in the states appears to be Bondo #907C. A 2 part glazing putty.🤔,which I can't get but I've found another European brand of 2 part. I will be making the jig for grilles. But I think it will be a chore to actually do🤣😣👍🤞
Awesome stuff going on there Pete. Yes I like the idea that Merv had had with the back end.
Merv wasn't mentioned in this video🤔🙃
@@petesmodelcarcustoms584I love your idea with your car as well buddy. I guess sometimes I get partial to Mustangs. And I did take away the sprue glue tip, which I did not know what it's compound was made of.
Great tips Pete! Spru goo has really turned into my go too. I agree with using as much plastic as possible. I'm looking forward to seeing your Torino grill! 😎👍
Glad you found the vid interesting👍😃. Thanks for watching and best wishes from jolly old England👍😎 Pete 🤓
Very interesting stuff Pete. Cheers Bob 👍
Thanks very much, Bob 👍😎
Thanks for the shout-out, mate :D In return, your implementation also inspired me with an idea where not only are the rear windshield and trunk lid stitched together, but they also include the rear panel all the way down to the bumper, kinda like that of the Group B Ford RS200! A big surgery though :P
A chap has sent me an e-mail with a photo of a concept car from 1971. Mercury Mondeo with a hatchback and the rear panel drops down to make a ramp into the back😲👍😃
@@petesmodelcarcustoms584 Sounds cool
I'll check those channels out Pete, I've been using a two part glazing putty, seems to do a good job, and much cheaper than the hobby stuff, 😎👍
That's exactly what moparnut John was saying.👍😃
Good tips there Pete
Might be able to use some of that✌️
I hope you found something useful Butch.👍😀. Do you have a favourite filler?
Fillers, I have Sprue Goo (Plastruct Liquid Glue and scrap plastic), Bondo auto body glazing putty, Squadron green putty(can not find it anymore), Tamiya white and Gray putty. Those are on the bench. Your projects look to be coming along fine Pete! Thank You for sharing! Take care, Be Safe, God Bless, Later
Nice to hear from you,Russell and thank you for your imput👍. It looks like you've tried a few fillers👍. I hope weather is good where you are☀️👍😎and best wishes from jolly old England 👍😎Pete 🤓
Squadron is junk-i've been building since 62 -I have used every putty there is-I got a bottle of spru goo somewhere's-Tamiya polyester putty is yellow and didn't work good for me--I use Evercoat -or JB Weld
@@crazypainter56 I haven't heard of Evercoat, but have used JB Weld.. Thanks for your imput👍😀
Thanks for sharing your knowledge ..
Nice to hear from you,Gary. 👍😃I hope you are keeping well👍😃
@@petesmodelcarcustoms584 All good... just really busy.... and its also to hot to build here in Austria ..
@@CarDreamsinStyrene I hope you are out entertaining people with your music rather than stuck inside at a bench. I'm off down the pub. Nice river frontage and a rock covers band👍🍻🎶🎸🎹🥁👍🍻😎
Yep, Sprew goo I use it alot but I make mine with leftover thin cement.
Mine takes forever to go off .
We have spot putty for cars here but that is like Squadrons Green Stuff it srinks not is not made by them, but there out of business now.
The old cars where called fast backs.
Like the Razorback P51B or early P47s
Where Razor back.
It gave them a higher top speed do to less drag but just like the fastback cars,it Difficult to see behind them😊
Nice grill plan too Pete.
I make a 5hin cement by mixing the same two chemicals and my sprue goo goes hard quite quickly. Unless I've got it on too thick🙃
@@petesmodelcarcustoms584
I never thought of acetone ether humm.
I've been told that Bondo #907C, a 2 part glazing putty that doesn't shrink is the one to go for in the States. 👍😀 . I found a European body company that makes a similar product👍🤔
Really cool I use sprue glue really handy stuff👍
Yes I do too. Do you have a filler you really like. Several American modellers are recommending Bondo #907C. 2 part glazing putty.😀 But that's not available here, except with mega shipping cost. I've found a similar,2 part, glazing putty by U-pol and am awaiting delivery of some🤔
@@petesmodelcarcustoms584 yes the filler I use is deluxe materials perfect plastic putty or Humbrol model putty . I find these really good 👍
@@stig800 I found humbrol the same as revell in a tube. I've used both a bit. I haven't got on well with deluxe putty. It just kept lifting😧. I went back to Holts 👍
I have the Tamiya putties. They are a lacquer base though, so they will shrink over time.
Sprue Goo - liquid cement and old parts tree posts all melted together to form a goo.
It seems the main recommendation is for Bondo #907C, a 2 part glazing putty that doesn't shrink. Available across North America👍😀. Unfortunately not over here,I've found another, similar product made by U-pol. A company that I've used auto body repair products from before👍😀
@@petesmodelcarcustoms584 I have used "Bondo" before. If you accidentally mix it wrong, it can be harder than the plastic model when you try and sand it.
Someone was showing a bicarb and super glue mix,the other day. I used that for a few years 10 years ago, that dries much harder than plastic as do the resin fillers like Miliput😧
Nice idea for making a grill
I'm glad you are watching,Ted👍😀. I thought it might interest you, although I'm not sure I explained very well🙃. I'm going to spend the evening cutting up a hundred bits of strip. It should end up like a comb, which I said to you before🤔
@@petesmodelcarcustoms584 I'm sure it will be more clear as you show progress
@@modelcarmadness5119 I must admit I didn't get round to doing it last night.😧 I got dragged out to a pub to get drunk and watch/sing a-long to a rock covers band😃. I had a great time but my heads a bit thick this morning🤣🤣😣👍😃
@@petesmodelcarcustoms584 😆😁🤕
Nice Pete.
Hi Justin 👍😃. What is your go to filler? 🤔
@petesmodelcarcustoms584 ca glue and activator for most stuff. Sometimes I go to Tamiya polyester putty, but once in out of this tube I'm going to try some 3M stuff a 1:1 painter friend suggested. He advised it's the same thing without the hobby mark up.
@@JHartModelworks That sounds like a good idea. Several good friends have recommended Bondo #907C but there's no U.K. stockists so I'm trying a auto company called U-pol. I've got a rather large quantity. 440ml.for £11.99
Cool stuff, Pete.
What are the names of what you use for Sprue glue?? It sounds like great stuff
Acetone and cellulose thinners
🍻 Nice video Pete 🤜🤛 😉
Glad you liked it Tim.👍 What is your 'go to' filler?🤔
@@petesmodelcarcustoms584 Bondo Glazing Spot Putty
@@THROTTLEPOWER Both Old Tom and Moparnut John recommended #907C. I take it yours is the same 2 part putty.👍😀. Unfortunately, there's no U.K. stockists and I'm looking at 16 bucks shipping.😭 I've found a similar 2 part by a European company, that I've used products of before at a similar price to the Bondo👍😃
@@petesmodelcarcustoms584 Yea, there are several that work well
Cool channels Peter...subbed to both ..when you said hatch back the crazy light bulb in my head went on!. Yeah an opening hatch back!... Yeah my favorite filler for models is still polyester two part glazing putty almost zero shrinkage and is styrene based... Model on in jolly old England 🇬🇧
Cheers John👍🍻. I hoped you'd be able to come up with a brand available in the states you could recommend for the chap??🤔
. Oh evercoat make good stuff and Eastwood co. As well but bondo brand white glazing two part putty is the best value...make sure it the two part the second part is a hardened which makes it not shrink but you must be aware it will cure faster so your working time must be faster as it will flash very fast once mixed.
Bondo part #907C must have hardener with it in package about $10usd
@@moparnut6286 I've heard of bondo, of course.👍 But I didn't know what products are available in America, with all the chemical law changes,I never know if my stuff will still be available 😭. I will look for a 2 part putty over here though🤔. Thanks for your advice,John 👍😀👍

Very KkOoL I use half styrene and half Sunnyside (methyl Ethyl ketone-mek)it’s a cheaper form of tamiya sextra thin cement. It’s the same as extra thin cement except cheaper, I paid $24.67 with shipping for 32 ounces in its lasting me over one year I’m not even 1/4 off the top the can. I sent you a video.
Wow. That sounds like something bodybuilders get hooked on🤣. I make my own extra thin too. I also dilute the contents of tube cement,in a jar,to make a medium thick glue😃. What fillers do you use?
@@petesmodelcarcustoms584 I use the old bottles of tamiya cement Orange top and the brush applicator works well. i’ll make a little video and I’ll send it to you of the contents.
@@WrOnGwAyScALeMoDeLs I think that would make a mess in an envelope 😂😂👍😎
