Here's what the Air Force says: "Aircraft takeoffs of U.S. Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons and Philippine Air Force FA-50s during the Bilateral Air Contingent Exchange-Philippines (BACE-P) at Cesar Basa Air Base. This is the seventh iteration of BACE-P established by U.S. Pacific Command and executed by Headquarters Pacific Air Forces. Incorporating the F-16 into this iteration of operations will allow for air-to-air and air-to-ground interplay training with the Philippine Air Force's FA-50s". The F50 is a good jet but the Philippines 🇵🇭 need to try to buy a medium or heavy weight fighter to be able to defend its territory. Maybe some second hand tranche 1 Typhoons would be a good buy.

Mykov Rivera The PH Air Force choosed the F 16 Fighting Falcons over the Jas 39 Gripen according to MaxDefense. It is awaiting confirmation and approval from the president. I hope Du30 approves tho because we definitely need more MRFs.

If you are from floridablanca pampanga, chances are yes. Basa air base houses these FA-50 because fighters are originally based in there, that’s why BASA is called FIGHTERTOWN
One of the reasons why a favor the F-16 over the JAS-39 Gripen For the Philippine Air Force Multi-role fighter (MRF) program is how much they share commonality in terms of weapon systems and sensors. Though Lockheed Martin packaged is more expensive then Saab's offer I think the price increased is justify since it covers maintenance which will not only benefit the Air Force and the F-16 in the long run. But also the FA-50 since it was jointly developed with LM help which could also support the FA-50 on KAI behalf additionally the PAF could help KAI certify the FA-50 with weapon systems not yet used like the SDB and Anti-ship missiles like the Penguin or Harpoon.

FA-50 Block 20 is on the plan. Poland ordered 48 jets few weeks ago. Block20 has AESA Radar system and much long ranged Air to Air missiles.

Those F-50's are small compared to most 2-seaters. Who do they use, midgets?

And pretty popular, more than a dozen countries have filed orders with KAI for a godly bunch. This year was a good one for Korea Aerospace Industries and Lockheed Martin.
Small but packs a punch Scott. Sidewinders and AGM smart missiles are key to making this small jets capable for the role they are designed to do. They are cheaper to procure and maintain. For a small country like the Philippines, it can still be a deterrent to any aggressor in the skies. But if it was up to me, I'd go for the F-16 70/72/V variants or the more capable F/A-18F super hornet.
You should not understand estimate the capability of an aircraft base on size. Keep in mind the systems and avionics, radar of this little bird supports most weapons the f-16 can carry. And is also upgradable as a matter of fact KAI is working on the next block for this LIFT.
Always two seater batter than single seater. If there are enough pilots.

@@adrln1818 its still in final evaluation they are still choosing if f16 or the saab gripen but for me i choose the saab gripen because of its stol and its the most advanced aircraft than the typhoon but if tbey want more firepower them the f16 is the right choise

Wow, how I wish that they can do a flyby here in Pacita Complex San Pedro, Laguna. I really loved military aircraft specially the FA-50 coz I havent seen one yet. I saw an F-16 back in Israel n twas so beautiful. I really wish I can see them do a flyby here down south... Tenx
lucky for me I have seen those FA-50s do a short flyby over my house in Davao City during Araw ng Dabaw 2017 nagising ako dahil sa ingay ng jet engine.

not happening. PH doesn't need american presence. If it did, it would be in the middle of Russian and American tensions. Either way, if PH gets attacked America has carriers out on sea to respond by the treaty. No need for bases there. The way I see it, their president is trying to rebuild the country and its economy. If it chooses a side, it would hinder that progress as it would be difficult to export goods on other countries if there is tension. By not choosing a side, the Philippines can focus in rebuilding
