    you didn't say anything about a resistor like others have talked about. Is the resistor closer to the plug so you didn't have to worry about it?? I need a 20 light strand with 6" spacing and NO ONE seems to sell them anymore. They keep trying to shove 4" spacing down my throat. You need what you NEED> so I thot hmmm maybe I can cut something in 1/2 or get a 20 from a 50 with the 6" spacing. Would it also be possible to put a new plug on the part you cut off so now you have 2 seperately working strands from 1 strand of 50 lights?

      I had the same question about adding a resister. I have tried it adding up the total resistance of the removed bulbs. My results were not good because the registers overheated. I also good with electrical but not so much with electronics.

    I’m trying to cut the led lights into smaller sections and some cuts would be where there are 2 wires and some where there are 3. But I want to be able to still connect them back together. Like for example automotive wire connections. Is there something that will work. Thank you I hope this makes sense to you

    Can you also lengthen by adding an extension or even more lights?

    How does one go about using the second half of the string that was removed? Is it possible to add a plug on the discarded section so that it will work? Specifically, I’m talking about a string of lights that has 3 wires from first bulb to last. I was able to get the first half working after cutting off the second half, but I’d love to be able to use the second half on another project and not discard it. Thank You! Great video.

      Thanks for watching. You can add a plug to the unused end. See this video that would show you how to add it. How to Replace Plug on Extension Cord

    The string of incandescents I purchased for $3 at Home Depot were different, but I decided to try, and I was successful.

    Could i follow this guidance and splice a plug in on it? I need to shorted my LED G30 Christmas lights into certain lengths to accommodate the different length ridge spans on my roof, but i need to be able to connect them together. They're all 58.1' (57' lighted). I need to shorten where one is 18', one is 25' one 36', etc. Can this be done?

    Hi. I need to make a custom string of lights that are about 3’ total length and need to have approximately 2” between each light. Is it possible to cut between the lights and reattach the wires to make a custom string of lights like this?
    thx so much

    My Christmas tree has almost 3000 mini led lights attached in 3 separate sections. The largest bottom branches did not light when I plugged all sections together. I called the manufacturer and they sent me only replacement lights. I was hoping they would replace the bottom section. I searched every branch until I found one light bulb damaged with the wires severed. I'm not interested in saving the light but want to know how I can join the severed wires together to make all the lights work. There are 3 wires at the break in the strand. I'm trying to avoid removing the lights and putting new ones on. I really don't want to just add new lights over the original lights. Can you help?

    Hi. Can I cut a strand of tiny led “fairy twinkle” string lights?

  • @knoxowsley9191

    Hello, I just accidently had the LED lights get cut in half (on a fence we never use the gate and wife opened the gate, cutting the wire). ANyway, tried your method of 3 wire section. However, I am positive that I have the wire that does not go into any bulb and I put a leak proof wire nut , but the other two wires, both go through each bulb casing (2 in and 2 out). What do I do now? Tried turning the lights on, but nothing. I was guessing to use three wire nuts , 1 on each wire. Your thoughts?

      @71volare Год назад +1

      take the single wire and connect with the bulb wire and take the wire you connected with the bulb and terminate it singly.

      Had to change the wire (one of two) going in and out of the bulb base. First nothing. Changed the other double wire and it worked. Thank you so much. It was a brand new string of 500 feet, lost about 150,ft, but I am okay with it. On the front of the house is all I really wanted. Thank you and Happy Holidays.
