There is another way to detect colour balls, 3 photocells with RGB coloured filters placed in front of the cells, this will an analogue output thats easier to work with, I used that on tomato grading machines, good enough to separate red, redish green, yellowish and green tomatoes, a few things i just remembered, those white LEDs might give out some UV and the finish on the surfaces could reflect white light to the cell regardless of the colour
Nice one! A score board would make an awesome addition or maybe some binary/bar filling writing on the collar LEDs in the corresponding detected color 😁 - who reaches max lit LEDs wins. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻🏀
I like the real time feel of your design and field testing. Testing and fixing seem to be the most time consuming. And thanks for showing the symbol of GOD's promise not to flood the earth again.
Interesting and unique solution to the problem... nice! If you're looking for other color-sensing ideas, how about a device that senses your wall color and recommends possible paint matches? Or maybe something to help colorblind people match their clothes?

Great project :) did your powerbank maybe just shutdown bc not enough current was drawn?

Oh lovely idea. I sometimes need help matching my clothes and I'm not colourblind 😀
Re project ideas: Maybe a squirrel (or bird) feeder with a (eg motion-triggered ) camera?
