I'm a 39 year old, straight, white dude that has been obsessed with bassline orientated electronic music since childhood (DnB, garage, electronica). I heard Tilted on some dance show my kids were watching in 2017. I've been totally enthralled by her music ever since. She's an absolute phenom. Both albums have stunned me, whether in english or french. She's brought some class and originality back to Pop music. So glad I came across this interview. Long live the Queens.
I’m just finding her, and she is one of few artists that moves me to such excitement I become obsessed immediately and then binge her music and interviews 😂 but for real, I am amazed by her presence and artistic talent, the beauty and wonderful strangeness is overwhelming ❤
This woman is absolutely intelligent and GENUINE. Discovering Christine and the Queens is definitely one of the best things that's happened to me this year. 🌈🦄🥰
What an inspirational woman, this is a stunning interview entirely due to Chris being such an enigma and speaking from the heart. A shame its despite the interviewer being completely uninterested, unresponsive and uninformed, but her integrity and honesty is so pure that it doesn't even matter. The girl is a Phoenix. X
its so very moving to come across someone who you feel is a version of yourself that you no longer can hope to express in this incarnation, but god i am her and she is me i can totally feel her expression/s and her talent. its equally thrilling and terrifying to "find" her work at this (later) point in my life... i totally agree that every aspect of "identity" is a construct as well as an acceptance of some aspect of culture, not even a desired aspect just one that makes it easier to navigate the day.... but we all know its a construct.
guarded? hmmmm I've seen nothing but the opposite. hmmm anyway. She is being very kind and intelligent and diplomatic because does he ask Hip Hop artists why Nicki Minaj or Snoop or Young M.A. ? I mean *rolls eyes* and also, "I thought you were shy?" OMG it is VERY COMMON for artists, and theatre kids (myself included, I studied with classmates like Paul Rudd in L.A. when we were kids) many of us were shy in person and I was put into theatre because I thrived there and not in school or irl circumstances. I'm a little upsetted at the tone here, it's like he's trying to get her in an insincerity? and then agrees with his own anecdote. Confusing interview style. Maybe it's me because he's speaking to a genius and I'm triggered lol ;) LOVE CHRIS, the new material and images out now are the best yet. xo
I pretty much agree. I don't necessarily think he's trying to have a 'gotcha' moment though, as much as he is just very focused on his own level of understanding instead of the conversation as a whole. I don't think he's malicious, but it does come off as kind of ignorant. Chris WAS being quite generous with him, it's kind of impressive how she never talks down to him but just elevates the conversation subtly.
@@hezebelbeingyeah he's typically try too hard American... so annoying 🙄🤮👎🏽👎🏽 I think a lot of Americans do it around non Americans out of sheer insecurity.
love her! so a great inspiration these days! the pop artist I was waiting for! and yes ..she is very genuine and this is very powerful! thanks, Chris for sharing your art! yes...being on stage is the best place to be..because you can create your rules and be free! is like home.
I would say Chris doesnt know how talented, mysterious, sexy and interesting she is. I call her Euro cool. With my time travelling Europe I was more exposed to continental artists. Artists I would neve have had the opportunity to appreciate, if I was in the UK. Although I love the UK scene with vigour and enthusiasim and being bias love the UK scene more. When I was travelling Mainland Europe it was different in a uniquely European way. Every country had its own feel France was actually more staid and conservative than expected whereas Germany I thought would be stlited obviously a prejudice developed through the idea that Germany was full of engineers and mathematicians. How wrong I was, Germany was so cool so many artists with so many great nights out . Much wilder than nights out in France lol.
Her accent, from my french native pov, is more close to the british one than the american one. She pronounce the « t » as itself not as « d » like americans do (this ain’t a critic). It’s very interesting
aniki937 bon soir. Her English is utterly beautiful. Perfectly correct pronunciation. Apart from that I think she is just so classy, sassy and intelligent. No um, like, maybe, actually etc of dubbo "stars".
I’ve been listening to Christine and the Queens and watching her videos and the whole time i’ve been thinking “Wow what a performer! Kinda like bowie!” obviously as she states she’s clearly influenced by him but still, she’s so so damn good i can’t wait to see the trajectory of her career
okay this guy is acting like he doesn't believe her but at least it has her talking lol DUDE HOW does he just enthusiastically bring up pansexuality RIGHT AFTER she says she wishes she could talk more about her music rather than gender and sexuality... bruh she's great though wow. also does he seriously think she'd dislike that people are dancing to her music... like she's been saying it's not all political overall super calming influence, she's so smart and thoughtful (and relatable to me)
Really enjoyed the interview. I love how her music is soulful and that she can touch you with the rhythm, voice, expression, and dance. Her songs are like an onion to me. The more I listen, the more layers open up.
Not a great interview! She mentions how she wants to talk about music and not gender issues all the time, and he immediately asks about pansexuality; he notices Michael Jackson influences in her latest video but not Tilted (makes me wonder if he watched it) - in general he seems unprepared and uninterested. And then, "Let's talk about music" - he says, and shows Christine being pulled on stage by Madonna.
I feel this. the interviewer was inexperienced. sonically, the album is incredible. she expressed not wanting to talk about the heavy stuff/social issues and that's what he does. it's a good thing she's naturally wise and eloquent.
Brilliant interview. Sometimes I feel very aware of the mundanity of a normal life, but I relate so much to the creation of a new persona who ends up bleeding into and leading my so called 'normal' life. And the change of confidence with age, which is such a big part of being human. Loved hearing about the sounds and influences too and identifying them whilst listening to the album.
She’s so “free-sounding” it almost makes me cry! What an inspirational person! If you’ve ever been forced to hide, listen to Christine and the Queens Xxx 🏳️🌈💕💪😎🦸♂️💪🏳️🌈💪💓😎💕
I think she is a wonderful singer/dancer who comes across as a beautiful soul. Her Concert was absolutely brilliant and she sounds as fabulous live as she does on her albums 🎵💛
I would like a million more people to see this. What a fantastic interview, more like a great conversation between two people with mutual admiration for each other.
Her intelligence and expression are on another level, and thats what I love about her, added to her music and 'stage theatre' Im overwhelmed. I'm a fan!
I’m french and in my ear she obviously got an accent for sure, but not really the french one. Let me explain, she does an effort in her pronounciation. I’m agree that to your ear she got a french accent, but to mine she has a kind of british/scholar accent which is different and better to understand than the pure french accent. That’s only my point of view 😊😉✌️ peace
Oh, most French people either have a heavy accent or just don't make any effort, and I'm saying this as a French person. Chris actually has a very nice accent and it isn't very typical of French people. You can tell she's French, but her French accent isn't overbearing, it's rather mild. She knows how to speak with a clean, RP British accent, which makes her easily understandable. I love that about her! But only very few French people speak like that, you can't generalize that to French women.
RhythmAddictedState I couldn’t have been more agree ! Tu as tout dit, mais ça doit pas être évident pour un non-français d’entendre qu’elle n’a pas l’accent frenchy typique (zis iz it lol). As you said, few french people make the effort to get an english or american accent. And it’s definitely not a matter of gender at all
A remarkable, talented artist. A composer, beautiful singer and dancer, performer .And so much more. I am struck by her talent. Actually blown away!! And I am struck by her genuiness. Sorry I may be wrong but the interviewer definitley does not appear to be asking unconditional questions, reading notes for prompts in a tiring manner. Questioning appearance and dancing style. Good artists and people in general, grow, develop and change. I hope Chris just remains true to herself and whom ever she loves and is loved by. I hope she is not swayed from a good balance of her ying and yang
What a naturally, genuinely beautiful person.

why doesn't the interviewer ask about her music literally at all
She once said she feels its exhausting having to define and explain herself all the time and not get asked about her music
