Man I love those educational videos with the blue background. Keep it up Adrian! You've been on fire in the last few weeks/months with new content. Revisiting older Tekkens and doing these blue-screen tutorial videos was such a great idea!
I guess im asking the wrong place but does anyone know of a method to log back into an Instagram account? I somehow forgot the password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me!
@Roy Marley I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and im trying it out now. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Ah, I didnt know I shouldnt rush with hitting buttons after an SS, thanks mainman, im relatively new and i've been wondering how to learn sidestepping, very timely video, thanks!
Hi tmm amazing video, I really liked the part where you mentioned that you can sidestep freely after doing a move that is, say -3. The limit is generally -4. I hope to see more of this style of playing mentioned in your other videos, such as Ranked Battle, where you can do a f,f+3 with Kazuya (-3), and sidestep into a sidewalk. Press sidestep and wait a few frames, about 5 ish frames and press sidestep again to sidewalk. This is a ss~sw and since ttt2 this has been more or less the most effective way to evade strings. I really liked the outlines you used in this video for ss and sw. Another thing that I would like to mention is that after your opponent has been whiff punished a few times due to the way you are forcing them to whiff, they will likely either hold back to continue blocking after Kazuya's f,f+3, or backdash away. So in this case you want to disrespect the opponent's frame advantage (their +3 frame advantage) and do a subsequent move. You can do ewgf after a blocked f,f+3 for example, or even grab with f,f+1+2. So the mixup for example is f,f+3,sidestep~sidewalk f,f+3, ewgf And f,f+3,f,f+1+2 And of course you don't have to do ewgf you can do d/b+2 or something instead if you want.
Watch all JDCR's games @2019 of Armour King; I guess, its the superior example that we can share to the tekken community. But MainMan's Tutorial is 1st Lesson I learned from Tekken, thanks bro!
Couple things, may or may not be correct, but i think best way is to alter between reacting and predicting with sidestep attacks. For example if you predict a jab or fast move to beat options after lets say your df1 on block: a micro SS can whiff launch even a jab. But when you're not sure if opponent is going to do a slow move, it's better to react after the move has whiffed than predict. The other thing is about strings. I don't think the strings realign but kind of grows its lateral hitbox like a cone on each attack. I mean strings usually seem to go completely straight line when sidewalked so that's why i think they actually don't re-align. For same reason i think attacking too early after sidestep gets hit because the hurtbox expands in the way, the attack does not re-align, its just about the hitboxes.
I think saying "sidestep to this side" is a bad thing, especially if aimed at beginners. They are going to sidestep in neutral at random, then get hit by a move that tracks to the "weak side", and they won't know wtf just happened. It's important to know WHICH MOVES to sidestep. However, that stuff is way above beginner level. BUT what you can do is sidestep specific strings, like Devil JIn's Laser Scraper, and there's videos of strings like that on RUclips already.
Depends, he said that to kazuya, and there is like 2 moves that tracks to his left (not being homing) that is SS3 and the second hit of d/f 1, 2 Aaaaand theyre not fast, if you can pay attention, maybe you can block on react
Like the video dude Would like more videos explaining the matchups of characters in terms of the weaknesses of the character 15:56 “ those are balls ! “ 😂😂
Side walk does not evade as well as a quick sidestep, especially from close range. Fortunately it's possible to interrupt a sidestep to begin blocking immediately. Side walking works very well against opponents who try to zone you out by beginning a string outside of hitting range to sort of walk the blows into the opponent. In Tekken there is no perfect offense or defense (although defense seems to be much less risky that offensive options. As I said, there is no perfect offense such that it cannot be punished even if your opponent knows exactly what you're going to do).
I’m not disagreeing at all here this is a good example.. but there’s always gonna be a player come around that blows you’re/all players opinion on playing away with everything we think is wrong and make it a success. Like the Jon for example
Hey, MainMan. Been watching a lot of your videos and they've helped me improve as a player. As an Alisa main who also uses Lili who is still in the Light Blue ranks with both, thanks to your videos, I've been able to beat players who are Orange and Red ranks, mostly in Player Match. But I feel like I'm not doing well enough. If I can make a personal request, I'd like to send in a few of my old replays from Tag 2 (Don't have 7 yet, but will get it soon) and see if there's anything you can find that I might be doing wrong. Maybe learn some things that might help that I'm not aware of yet. I have a few videos on my channel that you can check out (potato quality since I don't have a proper recording setup.) Any advice would be EXTREMELY helpful.
Hi, I'm a beginner with kazuya, my idea may not be good but why not doing a 50/50 with HS and d/f 2, it's homing too and only 12 on block compare to WS 2
These are great! Appreciate all of the info. For your general anti character videos I hope it’s not to much to ask but could you do one on marduk and his infuriating tackle along with law? I have one of those stereotypical 3 bar law friends which is funny but also frightening.
What I would like to know is why we can't drop "side step left/right" and replace it with "side step clockwise/counterclockwise", it makes so much more sense in my brain
@Arashiryuu You're right, green ranks don't punish a lot of stuff so even a -18 move could even get away unpunished. But at the same time, when do you ever see green rank players do WS2 from a wavedash lol.
God of Demência all of those options are useless except for ff2. Kazuyas 5050 is superior in green ranks because no one sidesteps. It’s superior in high ranks because he can check your ss with ws3
Nice video very helpful but i have one question: how to know which side you should SS a move in general (i know it's specefic for each move but there is a general rule right?) i mean if a move hits with a left arm or left kick should i step right or left?
Not necessarily, look up Tekken sidestep chart and you can practically rely on sidestepping entirely to one side per character, then it comes down to timing
Amazing video, man. I learned a lot as a beginner. I have a question that's a bit specific, which I know this video isn't really meant to be, but I'm curious. In the example with Kaz 50/50 that gets blown up by SWL, could Kaz potentially counter this with a WS12 instead, because it hits with the left hand?
@@dylanwing2168 Ohhh okay, I wasn't sure if it did, I just know a rule of thumb that left limbs tend to track left, and vice versa. I guess that's one of the exceptions. Thanks!
Great Info... Unfortunately for me I'm a jack 7 Main and his fat ass can't sidestep to save his life... And as for my secondary marduk he sticks out his left elbow too much so is sidestep is weak going right. Have you ever seen Jins rage Drive??? That shit magnetizes to your character
I have a problem side stepping laws f,f,3. Sometimes I completely sidestep the move but I still get hit. Why does that happen are some moves not safe to sidestep even tho it tracks and some moves are linear.
Can u pls explain the step from Kazuya... I mean the step when u tap f once... He goes to the enemy 1 step and then steps randomly (I think randomly) left or righr
Its called a mist step. I think only kaz has it and it is not a step, its more of a stance that lets him do a 13f ewgf. The hitbox changes a little which is why it switches directions randomly, it does not high crush. Lei also does a similar stance before razor rush when you tap f.
Lol come oooon TMM if U don't step Law he would just kill U with his jabs .. bryan will finish the round just by his hatchet till U duck , if U don't move after his b,1 shall we just eat the mixup ..cept machine gun the general rule is we should SSR Bryan
After watching this I still don't get why you think ss2 (DJ) is a useless move.. You said that you sidestep to counter attack.. and ss2 always works if the opponent whiffs.. Not to mention that when it hits, huge damage is guaranteed
@Arashiryuu Exactly you said it.. apply it correctly... Alot of people don't know that with training you can actually delay it and know whether it's gona hit or not before you press 2
I know this comment is old, but it might help beginners to understand. 50/50's are a combination of two moves in a character's move list which can both be used in the same situation and are hardly blockable on reaction, forcing your opponent to guess whether they have to block high or low. Usually it's a guess between a mid and a low. In 2D games, it would be a guess between a mid/low and an overhead. Because of the forced high-or-low block guess, 50/50's give you 50% chance of a succesful hit, hence the name.

As a new Kazuya main, it's very relieving that TMM usually uses Kazuya in his analogies. Also this was very helpful.
These tekken lectures are amazing.

-18 tho
Being -18 almost kills that move, it will work against really good players, but with green ranks that dont sidestep, will be death sentence
