I always imagined how it would have went if luna did not come back on the first episode but in the last season and all the other villains mocking Celestia for banishing her whenever they showed up. I can just imagine and instead of just 2 episodes say she comes back and successfully creates eternal night and over the course of the season Celestia and the main 6 work to find a way to undo it and in the final episodes have an epic showdown with Nightmare Moon eventually freeing Princess Luna of her. I think it would have been interesting at the very least if they had delayed her return and foreshadowed it over the course of a few seasons
