The thing is all of Marlon's songs are really good. From his flow to the production. I've heard him hit some flows before that sounded like something Joyner would do. He's actually very versatile.

This is the type of constructive criticism that is helpful for artists and listeners alike.
Been on the Marlon train for a minute, and the dude's grown a lot as an artist. But as both Ryan and George pointed out, the one area that will hold him back in this era is that his delivery needs to be more dynamic and engaging.
Funhouse Mirror is one of my favorite albums of the year, largely due to the self reflection, but one of the areas where it could be improved is production variety and changing up his flow from song-to-song and even within songs and within verses.
He'll get there. He's got the drive and skill. He's one of these new generation dudes that can bridge a gap that is sorely needed.

k sim I’d say Workin, The Static, Cheat Code, Dribblin are some, his sound is very Jazzy and boom bap or old school for the most part but songs like workin show a little versatility in sound

when yall say he needs to be more "dynamic" it reminds me of the movie where Chris Rock is doing a radio comerical and the director wanted him to do it more "black" lmfao....sometimes ppl dont need to be flashy....lyrics are the foundation to a freestyle so id say that extra niga shit yall want him to do is like 10 percent of what makes up a good freestyle...the other 90 being lyrics....like just respect a kid though naw mean instead of saying he aint black enough in different words.

Bro exactly. And I love how they act like the lyrical aspect is just a box that you have to check. Like wtf? This dude is structuring bars and next level lyricism that we almost never see. It literally takes them 2 minutes to break down one bar because of all the different ways it has meaning. I’d rather have someone who’s a master at a craft than someone who just “checks all the boxes”.

Whether you're a guitar virtuoso or have technical lyricism, you won't be able to grab a larger audience and propel music forward unless you have song craft ability as well. It takes a lot to excel at that upper level, regardless of genre.

The reason you aren't hearing as many "quotable" lines (in your opinion) is because they are going right over your head! In other words, they are so quotable and at such a high level, that you are missing them. Check out Stevie Knight's review of this same clip. He will set you straight and wake you up to a hundred lines you didn't catch.
One of the few YT channels were if I see a 30+ min video, I know it's going to be 100% content and I don't fast forward for even a minute. Unbiased, REAL real reactions every vid. Highlighting the things done well, but also critiquing the aspects that were lacking.

'There are people that aren't that slick lyrically' - think this is a bit of an understatement, at this point there is almost no one in the world that is this slick lyrically. You should review a few songs of him, curious what you think about his flow/delivery in those ('not everybody' comes to mind). Great video as always, love the channel!

I'm from Portugal and i saw Marlon Craft's freestyles a dozen times, and although every time i listened i discovered new bars, i could never reach all the bars because of missing references, and/or couldn't understand/identify the word play and you guys analyzed this in full. So a big thanks, keep up the good work!

Always appreciate the unbiased reactions, y'all are def not like these other reaction channels putting on a front to get fans of the rappers to subscribe. Y'all keep it real 100% of the time, and I know Marlon will take value from this reaction video. Hopefully he really takes the advice to heart because I feel like he can really become great but his cadence/delivery wasn't the best on this one. I will say that the beat itself wasn't all that amazing to begin with but I thought he did an okay job all things considered. To me it felt like the freestyle flowed really well at times and then sort of fragmented/linear at other parts, and overall that took away from the whole thing. I think he would have been better off doing 5-6 minutes but making that shit packed with bars and shit that's really worth saying. Felt like there was a lot of filler in this freestyle, but again, he did well on this one.

I've been rocking with Marlon craft since 2017. I used to listen to his shade 45 freestyle on my way to the grocery store cause it was just that great. I appreciate his lyricism, his anti-racist lyricism in particular, I actually like that he doesn't start off at a 100 he just kind of builds up, and I like that in his skill you can hear the respect for the og's. I'm glad y'all finally got around to him.
