Flatbands are more efficient (equal speed with lighter draw), have less alignment issues, more mounting options, and seem to last longer (imo). Still, it’s good to know how to use tubes as well, just to cover all your bases. 👍
How's it going. I just was forging this week. We didn't know how lucky we were getting that class in before Covid. I will definitely look you up if I am out that way.
There are some pretty cool opportunity for bushcrafting out here, give me a heads up if you are headed this way and well go check out some cool areas. Take care Jamie.
I remember when we cut rubber strips from tire inner tubes and made slingshots from that. An old shoe tongue was easily fashioned into a pouch for the irregular gravel rock or the smooth marbles ... but we did not like shooting the neat marbles at anything because they would not be found again. I wonder if current bicycle tire inner tubes would give decent stretch.
I would want to tie off the tails with something as well ... just don't like the sight of the open end especially if hunting or shooting in drizzle etc. Wha do you think?
So what I’ve been searching for for a while now is how to attach the pouch to the bands. I have bands attached to the fork, what about pouch attachment? It seems no one is covering this. Does it take special tools to tie surgical tubing to a pouch in this fashion? Thanks
Hello, I am from Sénégal in Africa. I like your video very much. My only problem is how to get the materials to make one slingshot. Since my chilhood I try to be good in making a slingshot. Here we don't have those types of materials. I will be very happy if you help me get one. Thanks

Weren't there some commercial slingshots, Daisy I think, several years ago that were recalled after this method resulted in bandset failure and caused eye injuries?
Good video. I hope you still remember but what was the size of the ball and the ID of the tubing? I have 6mm OD and 4mm ID tubing ,the hole in the sling is 6mm would i need a 8mm or 10mm ball?
Hey. Why do the balls won't get out of the tube, if you pull these? Is it safe or do you have to make a knot behind the balls or something? Never did this, but I want to build a tube sling shot...but I'm kinda afraid of pulling the balls out of the tube and get a slap in the eyes.
Once the alcohol evaporates the ball won't slip out of the tube. Give a while to dry and your good. Inspect your bands and watch for wear. Subscribe to see my latest videos.
Ranger bands are made from inter tube, inter tube cut along the grain can be made into a slingshot, but not a very good one. I will make a video on it and show the difference between band material.
Big issue ive actually found out with this method over the last year or so is the tubes twisting.. The twisting ruins accuracy obviously, the flaw with this method is as the tubes are stretched the diameter shrinks inside the hole and now the tubes are free to twist any direction once you release as the pressure comes off the ball holding the tubes in, I was constantly readjusting or trying to get the pouch being off to one side due to the twist, since I went to tying or properly locking the tubes to the fork, accuracy was instantly better from shot to shot..
FYI, there's actually a much, much, much easier way to attach tubes to the fork, whether it'd be the hole type or tied around the fork. Here's the secret: Use a 5-8mm small section of extra tube (preferably at least 1745 size thick) to wrap over the end of the slingshot tube, using a tweezer to hold the extra tube open. Then, simply slide the slingshot tube into the hole and it's secured via the extra tube wrapped over the slingshot tube. If you find that the extra tube is not thick enough to secure into the hole, then simply wrap over another extra tubing (experiment with this, I can't get into too much details), or use a thicker one to begin with. The metal ball-in-tube method is actually not anywhere nearly as durable as my method above, since the metal will guarantee to start to tear/rip at the slingshot tube with each draw. With my method, this never, ever becomes an issue as it's only rubber rubbing against rubber.
Watching other people build sling shots, this is the first tutorial about attaching the bands, thank you.
Yeah attaching bands is kind of important. Thanks for watching.
just got new band today and was wondering how to do it... found this tutorial... easy and spot on ... thank you.
Thanks for the ball and tube method with a wooden slingshot I was kind of stumped before this thanks
Very nice! And with a constrictor knot in front You are100% save😉👍
I’m a flat band guy… but gonna mess around with the tubular bands a bit… great video
I prefer flats as well. The durability of tubes is awesome.
Very cool Jayme!
for those slingshot beginners i dont recommend tubular bands use flatbands instead but this is a great tutorial good job 👍

Smart. Rubbing alcohol will evaporate easily when complete.

Which solution is used for that in white box which you used for tube dipping please tell sir
Will silicone oil as replacement for alcohol works? I am afraid it will slip out
I don't know. Once the alcohol evaporates it won't slip.
@@BurningRiverBushcraft okay, thank you
Is it okay to tie the knot while the rubber is inside the hole
Try it. This works for me.
Please for the love of god tell me where i can find ten mm 3/8" tube!! Ive searched internet and nibody can help
@user-pz3ot6wd2k three eighths.
9mm. Wrist rockets arent that powerfull. Thyr 8mm

It wouldn't hurt. As the frame wears the tubes it easy to make small adjustments

wouldn't the steel balls be pushed out after shots? love to see in practice.
Once the alcohol dries, the ball stay in the tube.

I wrap and tuck flatbands.

Not sure on that. Eye protection is a good idea for that reason alone. Every band set fails eventually.

Good video. I hope you still remember but what was the size of the ball and the ID of the tubing? I have 6mm OD and 4mm ID tubing ,the hole in the sling is 6mm would i need a 8mm or 10mm ball?
I believe this is 1/4 inch ID 3/8 inch OD tubing. 3/8ths hole in the fork and 3/8ths or larger ball.
Great 👍
Saw on a blog where clay ammo holds tubes in place better, and they weigh less.
I’ve never tried clay as plugs, but eventually will.
Would it be a good idea to cut an melt the um tips?
I would not do that. When the alcohol drys it's a nice tight fit.
Great tip. I'll have to try that one out.
The top of forks look pretty sharp and should be rounded out.
What happens with the alcohol between the ball baring and the pouch inside the tube. It can't evaporate. I'm guessing it will soften the tube.
I haven't seen any effect on the tube
Can you do a video of proper aiming with this type of rubber
Sure, it might be a bit. My technique is the same regardless of the bands.

It should work with light ammo. I haven't had a chance to try it.

Summary:
1. Push band tubes through holes in slingshot.
2. Insert ball bearings into ends of tubes.
3. Shoot slingshot.
I already dip the tube in alcohol but still really hard to insert that 5mm steel ball into 2050 tube for securing that tube band in my slingshot
Sound like chuck Todd. Resemble him some too
Just use your method to attach the tubes on a new slingshot i just made.sub your channel
7/16 for 1/4 ID. that's almost twice. Is there a reason or you just had 7/16?
These are heavy bands, 7/16 is the OD.

Make a video.
Alcohol can damage latex over time. By trapping the alcohol vapor inside the tube with the metal ball you may be reducing the life of the slingshot.
What the heck how can you even pull that thing?
The length of the bands and the thickness of the bands determines the draw weight. These are long bands. The draw weight is comparable to a youth bow.
si fuera en castellano, saludos..

One thing I know for sure ! Is that a slingshot has 👉”Dead Play” which means that you lose POWER !! 😨😰🤦🏻♂️
