This is one of the best videos i've seen in a long time- a bit like watching Charlie Poole incarnate playing fiddle like Eddon Hammons; it rendered me speechless when I first saw it, and has had a similar effect on (many) subsequent viewings. If anyone's interested, the first tune is called 'ways of the world'.
A murder ballad that was softened up to meet the standards of the second half of the 20th century, my error...Looking back at the recorded history of the the times, the pines were good place to go to be killed,.,,
is the first part a completely different fiddle song? i learned it completely, but i guess ill learn the song part now...tenbrooks...i can't find the lyrics though...
Andrea Verga i remember it’s a horse racing song. Ten brooks and molly are race horses that had a race at a fair in memphis tn. Ten brooks skippin and a flyin

It does the soul good to know that this music is still appreciated enough to be filmed
I think I have a recording of my great-grandfather singing this. (His uncle was Edden Hammons.)
Awesome!!
wow.
Awesome! Does the first reel have a title?
Frank was the kid that beat the devil in the fiddle duel down in Georgia
Idaho and Frank are correct..It was morphed into Tenbrooks and Molly at a later date..Thank you...
@DrLavenderful Or just buy the album? It's amazing.

@@littlecabininthebigwoods5720 thanks 🙏
The first tune is “Ways of the World” from Kentucky fiddler Bill Stepp.
Looks like the Carver Bros. recorded it as Tim Brooks and his lyrics seem to match their version.
Where can I find the lyrics?
It's Tenbrooks not Tim Brooks ....Sheesh. Great version though..
frank fairfield sold his sould to the devil for musical talent, just look in his eyes while he plays.
James Lioncub I believe the devil tried to sell his soul to Frank Fairfield to gain his talent
@youllregretit Post a video on the part you learned so far.
tuning is...GDGD? more like...G#D#G#D#...its so fast to figure out.
