  • Banning TikTok is a popular political pledge. But getting rid of the app won’t protect our data. Governments abroad and in the U.S. already collect enormous amounts of user data through digital data markets. Information collected from user’s social media, dating apps and even cars are all on the digital data marketplace-and though it’s anonymized, it’s not impossible to identify individuals in the datasets.

She has no idea of China Red Army control of the Chinese Communist Party and the nature of the threat. She should look to history and Chinese repression in Tibet, Hong Kong, let alone their involvement in Korea and Vietnam. “The will to be stupid is a very powerful force, but there are always alternatives."

Your statement has nothing to do with the argument she she makes, banning tiktok will NOT protect the data of US citizens from US adversaries. Stay on topic! If you want to protect your data from China, corporations, the US Gov itself, write congress about passing legislation to regulate the gathering, storage, use and selling of data collected about you.
