Wonderful way of showing this east coast classic in the light of days gone by. It saddens me a little that we cannot ever go back to this - however anyone who has spent time there has their own summertime memories to hold onto. It is truly amazing what a century brings with it for change. The fires were so devastating... Great video!
What magnificent buildings! And I had no idea the pier was ever that long. Love seeing the women in the ocean with full length dress bathing suits. Thanks for sharing these wonderful photos.
Very nice, my G, Grandfather had home design, cabinet making business going in Biddeford around 1900. I have offended wondered if any of the homes he built are still around today. There is a Grayson St. In Biddeford. I often wonder how it got it name ?
+Ronald Turgeon I WORKED IN THE TI CKET BOOTH THAT SOLD TICKETS TO THAT RIDE ABOUT 1965, AT CLOSING TIME WE WALKED THE MULES UP OLD ORCHARD STREET AND THEN DOWN MILLIKEN ST. TO A SMALL BARN, COAL MINE BURNED DOWN IN THE BIG FIRE IN JULY 1969
paul beauregard Hi Paul, I worked at the Lafayette Hotel in Old Orchard owned by Fern Cloutier the Summer of 1971. It has since been torn down for a Condo. By the way my mother-in-law was Florence Beauregard ( Bergeron ) of Lewiston 1927 - 2008.
I grew up in Portland and this place was magical as a kid. Live in Los Angeles now but my heart will always be in Maine. Tks for the video.

Does anyone remember a ride at Old Orchard beach in which actual mules would pull carts underground with people in them? I used to go on it.
It was called the Coal Mine and was right underneath Noah's Ark, it all burned down in a fire.
