Yeah, you'll get more for your money. iPhones break easily and don't let you have freedom on your software, the SoC are less powerful than Snapdragon 8 Gen 2/3 and probably Exynos too, they have less RAM (seriously 8GB on a 15 Pro Max ?! I have 12GB on a 4 y.o Note 10+, with a fricking stylus !)... On an Android you can install any app you want, you don't need anyone to approve it, it just has to match your Android version (you can also get older app versions). iPhone is a big scam, and if it's not for noobs in tech or nostalgia from old iPhones (that I have more about Android but it depends for everyone), I'd never recommend them. Get a Samsung if you want versatility and durability. You can try a ROGPhone if you're a mobile gamer, but even I'd recommend Samsung over that because of the UI and durability, and especially if Samsung uses Snapdragon SoCs in your country.
This happens on other iPhones. I managed to get my father’s iPhone 11 to work again but it originally stopped working for that reason after the phone got wet. The phone was bootlooping so it wasn’t completely shut down

Hey, 7 year technician here. My background specializes in Apple hardware and software, with 2 years of R&D on Apple security. A simple soft reset would have fixed the issue. This is super common after the iOS 16 release. Not only did you miss a simple solution, but also just killed the customer’s Face ID in the process. Try this solution next time and see what the results are.
I've had loads of customers come into the shop with the same problem. As mentioned, did a quick soft reset in front of the customer and the screen worked as normal. Never had one that didn't work. I'll remember this incase I do ever get one.
That's the marketing gimmick of these types of companies, create "good" products only to have a design flaw on purpose so they force you to buy another one from them.

Added note they technically aren't losing money too since the phone you have them replaced would most likely have damages that would've even be less than 100 dollars to repair so in a way they're earning even more money.

this happened with my mom's iPhone 12 Pro Max and I took it in to Apple, they replaced it free of charge since it's a known issue on for a pretty substantial percentage of iPhone 12s
Ur issue might be a little different then because this video issue is referring to the ear piece speaker not working due to water damage. Older iPhones the device would either boot up but then bootloop every 3 mins. Or just wouldn't completely boot and just get to Apple logo. The issue u r speaking of is the known issue with the iPhone 12's ear speaker not working at all meaning no audio coming out of it.
This happened to my mom too with her iphone 12 pro she left her phone in the rain and the screen went black 2 month ago we went to apple. Apple said it was not possible to fix it so i bought a brand new iphone 14 pro max
My phone has this exact problem, though I think it’s an iPhone 11 Pro. I got it slightly wet (though I’ve dropped it in river before with no issue) and now every now and then the screen goes black if I tilt it a certain way. Thanks for clearing this up

Something similar happened to my MacBook. One day it just woke up to a black screen, except the keys were still lit up. We took it to Apple and they said it wasn’t able to be saved. Now I wonder if it was actually fixable
It's actually more common than you think. Pretty much *ALL* of the FaceID model iPhones have that exact issue, and sometimes it just *happens*. Disconnecting the earpiece/proximity sensor (earpiece if iPhone X to 12) (prox if 13 or newer). Seen it personally with some phones that come in where it's just black screen or Apple-logo looping where even forcing an update won't work.

The iPhone 12 has an earpiece speaker issue in long term use. On mine it worked perfect from 2020 until about the last 6 months. I dont think it’s something they released the phone with the intention of it going bad, but it’s clearly a durability flaw
Please don't do that, as it just makes things worse when it comes to repairing by a technician, like this bloke. You need HEAT to dry it out, so stick it somewhere really warm like in an airing cupboard and leave it there for a couple of days. But if you've got a star screwdriver, then open it up so the moisture doesn't just sit inside the phone and get everything all rusty.

Put it in ultrasonic cleaner use compressor take out moisture in ear slot put on your heat mat 100 for 5 min try it again it will work if not just replace earspeaker part desolder and resolder should work they don’t lose Face ID functionality
I think the problem is damage on the face recognition module included on the earpiece assembly. Since the phone cannot verify the module (or whatever procedure it wants to do), the boot process cannot complete. I have similar experience on my old iphone xs which makes my phone boot loop. Plug the earpiece again after assembly once the iphone starts then the earpiece will work, but you will not be able to use face recognition.

hey can u help pls.... i have a 12 pro and it fell in a bucket filled with water instantly its face id stopped working but the next the day screen flickered and turned off after a few hours it turned on with a green line but sometimes if i lock my phone the screen goes black and i had to restart the phone but just few mins ago it went black and now its neither turning on nor vibrating or anything...... if this is the same problem as u how much will it cost me? and is there any other solution

Something similar happened to my MacBook. One day it just woke up to a black screen, except the keys were still lit up. We took it to Apple and they said it wasn’t able to be saved. Now I wonder if it was actually fixable

It's actually more common than you think. Pretty much *ALL* of the FaceID model iPhones have that exact issue, and sometimes it just *happens*. Disconnecting the earpiece/proximity sensor (earpiece if iPhone X to 12) (prox if 13 or newer). Seen it personally with some phones that come in where it's just black screen or Apple-logo looping where even forcing an update won't work.

Yes, happens a lot on every phone with FaceID. Almost as bad as the phone shutting off if the dock flex is missing... making data recovery harder.

The iPhone 12 has an earpiece speaker issue in long term use. On mine it worked perfect from 2020 until about the last 6 months. I dont think it’s something they released the phone with the intention of it going bad, but it’s clearly a durability flaw

Please don't do that, as it just makes things worse when it comes to repairing by a technician, like this bloke. You need HEAT to dry it out, so stick it somewhere really warm like in an airing cupboard and leave it there for a couple of days. But if you've got a star screwdriver, then open it up so the moisture doesn't just sit inside the phone and get everything all rusty.

Fellow phone repair tech here: we see this issue pretty often. At least 2 or 3 times a week. Even saw it with some of the 13 variants as well.
That’s what happened to me when they first released and it was a pro max, they game me no discount and I had to get a new one

Put it in ultrasonic cleaner use compressor take out moisture in ear slot put on your heat mat 100 for 5 min try it again it will work if not just replace earspeaker part desolder and resolder should work they don’t lose Face ID functionality

Do you own your own company?
I think the problem is damage on the face recognition module included on the earpiece assembly. Since the phone cannot verify the module (or whatever procedure it wants to do), the boot process cannot complete. I have similar experience on my old iphone xs which makes my phone boot loop. Plug the earpiece again after assembly once the iphone starts then the earpiece will work, but you will not be able to use face recognition.
Now Face ID won’t work unless you take it to Apple and pay them $500
