This is mesmerising and beautiful stuff. Love it. I first heard Konono No. 1 a decade ago from a sampler that came with either Mojo or Uncut ("Paradiso"), and knew at once it had to be an electrified thumb-piano. Still, was shocked that I was right. This is a fine band!
2 kinds of people..1 with money...2 people with no money. This is what separates the world concerning humanity. Your wish..good intentions sure...but really...These guys know how to get around with money!!! Money is a crime!!! And people with loads of money...are criminal!!!
@@klokjerond1967 I mostly agree with you about money corrupting people. Very often people with money lose their connection with human values. My hope for Konono was (is) that they will have creative freedom... enough money to make music on their own terms.
Not only from Congo. This is the song from bazombo tribe, the tribe that lives in the border between Angola and Congo. And also, Mingiedi Mawangu was born in my village, Damba in Uíge(Angola). He went to Congo with 16 years.
I was lucky enough to have seen them play live.
idem for me
Incredible treasure, glorious fire. Thank you so much for posting!

Excelent music,
I hope they make more money than they could ever imagine. (Look out for the agents and promoters!)
Sadly, the bandleader died in 2017
indonesian bassbooster his son took his place up though so luckily they’re still together! :)

Seu Jorge. Mingiedi então fala PT além de françes e as línguas africas (que eu não conheço)???
Mister Schack Isso já não te posso responder com certeza.

Watching this reminds me...I'm going to see KRAFTWERK in concert in two weeks, in Philadelphia!

Kicked it a WOMAD ... Wasnt an ass not shaking..
the guy with the white cap looks like if one of the instruments are not working as expected or something. Or maybe he had a bad day.
