A proper Bricklayer doing a proper bit of Brickwork....Good to see somebody still working in a traditional way and keeping the true art of Bricklaying and craftsmanship alive i said before you remind me of my old man thats the kind of thing he could do back when he was on the trowel!! Well done Rob 👏
I watch these videos and find in them something to which to aspire. The videos are inspirational, of course, but they are also influential as they present the potential of fine masonry to parts of the world where there is not a local example. Thank you for all you do. You are making a difference in my life / work.
thank you... please keep watching, I think we have a worlds first coming soon. It's another twist, but different. (harder to set out than the Triple Twist on here)
Simply staggering .Although you see this type of work on old stately homes ect you never ever get the chance to see how they where constructed this is class 👍🎥🧱✅
Meticulous brickwork and setting out as usual, particularly involving so many individually cut bricks to form the stack. The completed design has so many detailed features. Once again, thoroughly enjoyed the commentary outlining key stages during the construction process. We fully appreciate the incredible high standards and creativity that you Rob, Harley and Billy attain - it is a pleasure to watch and learn from such skilled craftsmen!
Anyone that has a passion for bricklaying will be star struck just like me .To be able to do that kind of work in the age of the profile good on you .I love it Justin brickright 👍
Fantastic work again Rob!! Your planning and attention to detail are top notch. Definitely agree with you about your labourer... if you don’t have the materials and mix exactly where you need them, the job can be a struggle. Working at that height with all the gear to get up, Billy is worth his weight in gold 👏👏
Ok so who is the jealous, messed up fool that disliked this unique piece of skill. Please crawl out from under your stone and let us know why you didnt like it!!....Rob...again mate, you are pure genius👍
Wow! What a beautiful chimney!!! So nice to see you posting your projects. I discovered your vids about a year ago and truly enjoy and appreciate your craftsmanship. I imagine people in a hundred years looking up in awe at your work. Thanks for doing a job well done and sharing your knowledge! Cheers from Ohio!
Beautiful as usual Rob. I’d love to pay u Harley and not forgetting Billy, to do the brickwork on my extension with a feature chimney stack. I’ve taught my son all I can but this is different level. Great stuff
YES Mate there's Bricklayers And then there's BRICKLAYERS your such a talented Bricky i've Been one for 19 year and quite happily Admit im out of my depth here just the cutting and all the work whats went into it and great idea with the template and lines saves so much time plumbing
Well done rob, another masterclass, I keep trying to tell people there is so much more to this trade of ours than just house bashing but you're always flogging a dead horse 👍🧱
Fantastic work Rob detail is amazing a lot of preparation involved, I have used templates and lines when building natural stone piers never built anything detailed in brickwork worth setting up a template but I will at home 👍
@@robsonger1 will send pics towards end of November as working away from home outside Oxford building cotswold natural stone till end of November or if it keeps raining could be eating my Christmas Dinner in oxford👍
Outstanding work all of you , master class again. Could you go into more detail at your farm on setting out , design and cutting out and placement of templates . The picture s are great but watching you on film at your farm when you have more time to explain and show how is an invaluable asset. Amazing work ....
Done something similar but luckily the company did all the drawings and the brick company made every single brick so we were lucky but fun to do.... I like the cut archers really sets it off, 👌
this is colossal Rob...that takes some time an labour is it your own design or do the owner ask for that or what....time and material and definitely labour has to be a major factor in a build like this it must be hard to price it,savage work once again
Cavity? in a chimney stack? I'm not sure what you mean. I'm guessing you are referring to the gap between the flue and the brickwork that gets filled with vermiculite... anyway, thanks for watching
Absolutely stunning yet again. Hats off to you, Harley and of course Billy. I've asked before without reply about availability of the template for the twisted piers. Can I get one please?
@@robsonger1 ok. Hope you can keep me in mind. I have another way of doing them with a template with a circle going round a cut out square of pier size and losthead nails banged in around all four segments of the circle and each course plumbed from the nails but it takes a lot of time and your template is so much quicker. Heard of that template?
@@grahamebennett2620 I've seen a couple of people try that method, I tried a couple of different ways before I stumbled across way...my templates came about as I was helping our technician clean the workshop, when I first started teaching, and I was about to throw away a broken square...when... I asked him if there was another one about...when I had 2 in my hand I ran back to the staff room...kept looking at them thinking...what am I looking at??? then...light bulb moment, ran back to the workshop and dry bonded a pier..sorted.
Mike Algar was the college lecturer who first put faith in me with encouraging words...then on site, Derek Almond...the best bricklayer in the whole world...had me working beside him...I learnt so much from both. Unfortunately, the way of teaching now is losing so many important aspects. At my workshop, I'm trying to bring back how it should be done.
I have tried to think of a comment that would do you justice Rob! There is a song that I absolutely detest but I think the title ... Simply the best... is a fair assessment 🤩
It's not the men willing to do this that is lacking, it's the clients willing to fork over the kind of money it takes to make this happen, here anyways.
Fantastic piece of work from the gang ... knowledge and patients is key in these projects and shows here . Just out of interest how are you rounding off and bevelling the brick you cut ? Would be interested in a cutting video Rob

If only every tradesman was as thorough as you guys. Absolutely magnificent. Thanks for sharing.
what makes you think they aint?
Through dealing with cowboys masquerading as ‘tradesmen’ that’s how.
This mán is the best bricklayer out there by a mile 👏👏

I want to be your apprentice. I always thought laying bricks in these days is all about laying blocks. You are a true cratsman!
My mother was a nanny in england in the fifties, she always said how beautiful the chimneys were on the grand houses
yes, the chimneys were built to show wealth...
Just amazing Rob looks fantastic also well done Harley and Billy the dream team.
For sure is the fine art of brickwork. Beautiful.
From one Brickie to Another, awesome job Rob, keep up the good work. Too many rabbit hutch houses being knocked up with no details. Stunning work

I've never built a niche, its on my to do list....
Wow Amazing work
Beautiful work Rob, must have been very time consuming.
Only the cutting was time consuming, the build was relatively quick.
4:23 is when he shows how bad is the cavity
From that can say this bricklayer is a real cowboy doing shiet work
