1:37 If you, like me, have neither a thicknesser and definitely no jointer, look up a video on hand-planing, it gives good results and is very satisfying. It very much de-complicates things, as I found the main demotivating factor when watching videos about woodworking, was the matter of factly use of expensive and, at least for the foreseeable future, unattainable machinery. I recommend Rob Cosman here on RUclips for setting up your plane. Note: A good hand-plane will still set you back around 300 dollars so buy second hand or well, buy a cheap one!
Good suggestions. I would also add to look at second hand tools and estate sales for in good condition woodworking tools, and if that fails then start with wood that is already the size you need, often your local wood supply store (not big box) will gladly process the wood for you for a small fee which when starting out may be more feasible then investing in tools.
Thanks for this nice idea, I have to build it next year for Christmas time. I alway use baby wet wipes not only in the shop. Last week i finshes my bath towel shelfs seats, i made two smal one like you did in yor video a few month ago. Thanks for your idears you share with us. Greetings from Germany and merry Christmas
Horseplop....lol. you have funny sayings. I would definitely add some Christmas spirit via some wood cut out designs or paint them red and green. Thanks for the great video as always!!!
Welcome to the 🥶 frozen woodworking club 😂 my shop is so cold right now as well, my heaters are not cutting it so I took a trip to Dallas and enjoyed a few days of 15C(59F), it was glorious. Now I’m back in the cold 🥶
Umm… you may want to revisit your cut list graphic. Is the imperial nub 1/2”x1/2” x19”? I think you mentioned the length of the legs being 13. Is that mm, cm, in? It’s in the metric cut list as 13.
I need clarification on your measurements. You say the base is 12cm x 12cm. and the sides are 13cm. But looking at 7:53 it is evident that the sides are at least three times the size of the base - or am I missing something?
Nope you haven't missed a thing, I however missed drinking enough coffee and not catching my error before the upload 🤦♀️. The updated cut list is in the comments below, please refer to that one instead:) The metric measurements for the legs is 33 CM (13").

I think i would paint them😀mabye a nice white
You could add a translucent panel to 3 sides of the candle version.
Special Walnut was my dad's go-to color 😿❤️
It's a great color for pine, your dad had great taste ❤️
Really nice project, I prefer the string lights.
Me too! The string lights really changes the look overall :)
10:10 definitely prefer the fairy lights! Great build thanks for sharing!
My pleasure, thanks so much for watching 😊

Awesome ideas- great looking-thanks!
You’re welcome, have fun building!
These lanterns are lovely. I think I might do the battery candle for a smaller lantern, but I do prefer the fairy lights. ❤
The fairy lights definitely give the lantern a more magical look, but the battery candle version takes less time :)
Very nice. I could see the lake people buying these for at the beach.
That is a great idea for a market to sell them at.
I truly love your videos. I have two measuring tapes. One in metric and one in imperial so I never need to convert.
All the cool kids do 😎
That is the way to go! Thanks for the nice feedback, merry Christmas 🎄
Thanks for a great video.
You are welcome, have fun building!
Good job Winnie, Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Merry Christmas Cliff, I hope you got all of your holiday projects done so you can enjoy some rest during the holidays :)
Nice project!
Thanks so much!

Those are some great ideas 🐴😂
Been in the 30s here in Louisiana this week. Too cold for my arthritic hands to be in the shop.

I have to get out there and zero my miter saw and band saw. I'm about 3 degrees off on both.
Sounds like you got a project to keep you busy :) I haven’t checked mine in a while, that may be my January project!

Thanks Pete, I guess I did not drink enough coffee after all, I'll add an updated cut list below shortly, thanks for the heads up!

I have started using metric because it is just so much neater. 4 cm = 1.
575 inches.
What the heck is 1.575 inches?!!!!
Metric is my preferred way too!
