If you want to do an optimized layout for cutting your sheet with minimum loss, you have no control at all with this extension. Instead you can use Flattery, or even better JF Unfold which surprisingly, still works, and both work with grouped geometry.
I don't think they have it but I KNOW it can be programmed to accomplish "flattening" surface plains to a particular common axis point. This will help to make surfaces uniform and aid in intersecting faces.
