Yes, you are right. We shouldn't worry about cycling fashion as something disliked by one person could be loved by another. Variety is the spice of life. As Si says it doesn't really matter as long as you are out riding your bike.
LOL I'm a NJ native, just so you know I was pulled over twice for drunk bike riding but not in NJ. Back in 1976 I was a Phantom Phixer stationed Kadena AFB Okinawa Japan, us crew chiefs would go to happy hour at the NCO club. I would ride my bike from the "flight line"after a day phixin Phantoms and have a few beers with the guys but, a couple of times I had to "happy" happy hour and kinda got pulled over by the SP's(I was passed out on the curb half way home) they loaded me and the bike in the cop car and drove me home, at least that what my buddies told me.
Without a doubt I can think of two instances of bad tastes: 1) Flesh colored bib shorts that were created for a Colombian Women's team. 2) Si in a Speedo, he didn't enjoy that ride so much that a disguise was needed
Hey Si! News to you - mechanics for cars and motorcyles do use the trick with the strap around the tyre too. So it is still good to adapt that on bikes, but not so genius at all.
I uploaded a video on how to seat tires using the strap method a few years ago. Id had great success with it and while it’s well known in the automotive world it’s less known in cycling. It absolutely works and my commenters have also had great success with it. I personally prefer to use a rubber rim strip/liner or an inner tube as the stretch to get out of the way and I usually have one lying around. A strap like that works well but anything you can find will do the job. Yes it can slip off the side of the tire but it’s not a big problem, just put it back on and try again. Some tires are more difficult than others, you may still need to remove the valve core, spray soapy water, use an air compressor or all of the above in extreme cases. I started experimenting with the strap method when all the traditional tricks had failed. - Hope this helps. I’m glad to see others will be adding it to their bag of tricks.

pump a tyre up with a tube first to get the tyre set on the rim. take one side off, remove tube, put valve and sealant in and repump. using washing up liquid also helps make a seal.
The astounding thing about the paint can as riser block is that there is a three level riser block on the floor right beside it. Yes, the paint can goes higher, but how much higher is actually useful? Perhaps GCN Tech needs to update the recent Tilt Training video on how much is too much.

In Hack/Bodge, for the bike stand that had a base of a car wheel on a board with casters, the shaft part looks like it was the base of a barber chair. The bar at the bottom looks like it is the foot pump that raises the chair, which is now replaced by the horizontal bike rack. To lower it, it looks like the small handle at the top of the shaft would release pressure.
When I was a young I ended up chasing a cow once when getting lost after dark. I was biking down a dirt road after twlight and scared a cow that jumped into the road ahead of me and I just followed its cow bell sound as it tried to escape me down the road. I was doing well following along until the cow took a jump off the road and I suddenly found myself searching for the road after my guide abandoned me. Since, I've learned to wear a helmet and bring a light.
The "bar" is 2 pieces of Angle/L-Section (AKA Angle iron) bolted together to create a "T" by the look of it. That strap around the tire is a hack used around the world for difficult tires. I just used it a week ago.
