I got a barrel kit and I don't even have a paintball gun or anything. Needless to say, my debts are gone, my aches and pains are alleviated. I grew 3 inches last week. Life changing decision thank you
I bought into freak inserts originally back in 2003 with my Adrenaline Impulse. Grabbed a Freak Xl kit when I grabbed my Adrenaline Shocker. I have a freak or freak xl barrel for all my markers and don't regret the decision one bit. I usually go one step underbore on all my pump or autococker based markers and in the winter run a one step overbore on my open bolt markers to help barrel breaks from cold weather
@@r3born206 honestly the biggest difference is that my freak Xl inserts are stainless and my freaks are aluminum. So my xl setup is purposefully heavier because I find it easier to point a marker with a slightly heavier Barrel . Compared to my old freaks the xl self cleans from old paint better but this is again inherent to the insert material and not the control bore length. And the inserts stay more true as the temperature of the day changes. As far as consistency both are more at the mercy of today's inconsistent paint then anything in there hands. And both do what I need them to do for my autocockers . I honestly grab whatever insert kit goes into the barrel kit control bore for the era I bought the marker. Newer ones XL my old angel, shoebox, impulse, some autocockers the og inserts.
When I bore my paint, I usually do it so that the ball will go into the barrel and get stuck, but loose enough that I can blow it out with my breath. If I have to blow too hard, I go up a size, and if it hardly has any resistance, I go down a size.
I'm kind of new to paintball and I'm looking into getting an ax 2.0 and a barrel kit, does that method work well for you and does it improve accuracy very much?
i don't doubt the need for a insert, but to be fair, your paint is warming in the direct sunlight on the second test which makes a huge difference on its own lol
Could it be weather and the fact you were using stock .688 for the .684 paint? Once you switched to the barrel kit, it shot a lot better because it was using a .684 insert.
The paint is .68, he used a .688 barrel because most stock barrels are around that size, and switched to .684 because the paintballs fit that insert the best out of all the ones in the kit. Different paint and batches of paint might fit different inserts better
Clearly 2 breech breaks in the first 50 shots that coated not only the barrel but the bolt/breech with paint. Why not clean up and do a second take for a fair comparison instead of only cleaning when switching to the Freak XL?
@@PressurePlayerStudio Have you never chopped a ball leaving paint residue in the feedneck/breech/bolt? They "cleaned it out" by squeegeeing the barrel only, not fixing the root cause of the errant accuracy which was the entire point of the comparison video.
Yeah I think this comparison was disingenuous, but hey, they’re trying to sell barrel kits. The video of the gs efficiency test shows them shooting exactly how the freak xl kit does in this video. There are too many variables (weather, paint quality, user error, flukes) to do a legitimate test of this. But they’re a business so if it helps them sell them more power to them.
try the .688 bore freak barrel to see if that makes a difference compared to the stock empire barrel. perhaps interior finish has something to do with it?
@@tommytuomaala9087 no, nothing I've shot lately is any bigger than 684. I'm just curious to see if the finish on a barrel kit is any better than on a stock entry level.
They will not. You need a different barrel. They do have an attachment for the barrel that lets you use freak inserts.. so you can pay $50 instead of getting a new barrel. A lot of people use CP barrels cause they’re cheap. If you’re new I would hold off. Freak inserts are the last thing to get. Save your money for better paint. Paint is the biggest influence on accuracy the barrel inserts thing is a complicated topic
@@thepaintballnoob7982 of course man, I had all these questions last year when I decided to pick up paintball after 10 years of taking a break. Have fun! eBay has been my best friend for getting new/ slightly used gear if you’re patient you can find some steals on mask hoppers and air tanks
Only upgrades that a woodballs player should be concerned with: Barrel, Loader, Air tank. For the loader, my brother has the box mag, and I can say that removing the hopper provides a significant advantage in woodsball. Not only does it open your field of view, but it makes you harder to see when peeking. If you dont want to go mag fed, then get any electric hopper you like. For the air tank, in woodsball I always opt for the remote line setup. Removes weight, removes bulkiness, and if you prefer it then it also makes using a stock more possible. I know the stormer has an airtank stock kit, if I had the stormer I would probably try that. For the barrel, honestly the barrel kit in this video is worth taking a look at. The Apex 2 barrel is also an option, with its own strengths and weaknesses. Honestly, if the stormer is your starter paintball gun, then dont be afraid to expierement. I have a ton of mods and kits for my 98C that Ive ditched and came back to at some point. Its your gun, get creative. See what you like and what you want to upgrade to.
They do already have one. My recommendations are: a good vest, dump pouch, battle belt, MASK, an upgrade to the barrel and a lighter trigger spring (I can explain this part more if you want)
.688ish or .684ish is all most players will ever need. Just drop 10 balls down the bore and choose which one let's about 7 to 8 out of 10 drop through the barrel. That gives you a slight overbore, and you are good to go.

You dont lol. All you need is .684, .687 and .689 one for under bore (more consistent velocity but ball spin out of the barrel is worse if paint is oily or you break a ball), one for matching (wouldn’t recommend cause each individual ball is not the same and matching is least consistent), and one for overborring which is less fps consistent but alot less likely to break a ball and the balls dont spin as much leaving the barrel making the grouping more accurate.
markers dont warm up lol they get colder as compressed air cycles through it unless you have super hot air pumped into your tank, which is bad for the marker as well
Ya there just hucksters. He broke paint in the f****** barrel Right away. Did a horrible job cleaning it. Of course it's not as accurate, as a brand new barrel.
