There's other way if you can't get an Allen key in the top or undo the top bolt . Use spring compressors and compress the spring which will relieve pressure on the bottom seat. You weren't too worried about scratching the powder coat anyway . If you don't have spring compressors jack the car off the ground , take wheels off then put another jack under the hub to compress spring . Use tie wire to hold spring compressed. Remove jack from under up and there will be little pressure on the strut seats. Once height is adjusted put back back under hub. Take pressure then cut the tie wire . It really works a treat when getting original springs out to lower a Commodore 😅
Mate i just got dobinsons 2 inch installed, 350's in front, up to 60kg... 2023 sr hilux extra cab. i have a toyota commercial bar lights, dual battery. Its sitting way to high, when i stand on the bar it barely moves. Havent touched adjustments left them how they came, mechanic that sells the dobinsons gear said they come at the right height. Nice info, thanks
I installed my Dobinson IMS C59-302 - Stock - 2.5" with the 2.5" spring and craned it up to 226 mm it was too compressed, a shop dropped it to 213mm and it still rides pretty stiff/harsh. I have 400miles on the new shock should it soften up at all?
I talked to a guy who experienced this, he added weight wherever he could and cycled the springs a lot and they loosened up . It'll take more than 400 probably though.

I always thought it was needed to be adjusted when the spring was compressed. As long as it’s lubricated we can adjust?
Is there specific torque spec for that top bolt or is it just until its snug? Or maybe until where the factory marks are?
If I am trying to lower the level of the car from 3 inch to 2 inch do I have to compress the spring up 1 inch or do I release it 1 inch down cheers
Hey I was told they only should be adjusted for different spring sizes that is all.
not adjustable ?
Kind regards
Bit late to the game with my comment, but I had mine wound up 30mm after they had settled after 6 months. Feels the same to ride in and drive.

Get it from me next time 😁😉✌️
I don't have the tool to adjust the height, where I can buy it or what the tool is called, my suspension is dobinsons MRR
Did you do this lift yourself mate. If so have you got a video of it?
If you mark the adjustment nut and turn it one rotation, how many mm movement is that? That would be handy to know when making height adjustments.
One full turn is 3mm height which equals 6mm of lift
These or B60’s..set & forget sounds good?
Question for ya.. I have the dobinsons ims coilovers 3.5 can you increase the height past 3.5 to 4?
How far can you adjust them
By lowering down did it made the ride stiffer?
looking for this info as well. stiffer or softer?
So if you have dobinson suspension can you have it set at 3inch and if you get defected go and get it lowered to 2 inch???
I don’t see why not. Pretty sure they defect the height and not the part
I followed exactly what you said but mine is super tight, I had to use a lever to turn the top nut even a quarter turn😢
Special tool included
Clean & lube or destroy
