I feel like I've heard this so many times in the past before I learned what it was, now I'm just hoping I get to hear either 41 or 42 again IRL before the mr63s all get retired.
You've got plenty of time (if you live in Montreal) to watch and/or film them on the Green Line if you want before they get rid of them for the new Azur.
I remember in elementary school our project about transports, we noticed the melody with the metro and we though it was from the speakers like the chauffeur explained that the sound was connected, but it's like the train itself that make this sound, I wonder how ?
It's a very simple explanation, basically the MR-73s and some of the MR-63s (as shown here in the videos) have what's called a current chopper! What it does is cut the 750V current into 5 phase, during that process it makes a sound for each phase (90 Hz, 120 Hz, 180 Hz, 240 Hz, and 360 Hz) which are coincidentally the same notes from the opening of the Fanfare for the Common Man song! All 5 notes you'd hear were only audible from the Jeumont Prototypes (MR-63 element 40, 41 & 42), whilst with the MR-73, only the last 3 frequencies are audible!
Man i miss the mr-63's, they retired them the same year i moved out of quebec

+JEUMONT FOREVER prévoit tu prochainement de faire du jeumont/Azur hunting?
Oui, ça se peut mais pas pour les prochaines semaines car je suis à New York en ce moment.
