I don’t think this is what you meant but the sport of “soccer” isn’t an American sport lol it’s an English sport. The word comes from association in ‘association football’ which is its full name and it was to differentiate from rugby football (as it was originally known). American football was made much much later and it was made based directly off of those two sports 😂 and they still decided to call it football for some reason…..especially when its only popular in America
