    Descartes original quote:
    "I think I am, therefore I am, I think"

Read more Descartes, he inevitably landed with a modified hylomorphism, a position seemingly ignored these days.

I am always amused by the fact that people always applaud before they think ( and I use the term think here in the most common sense).
The question "Who am I?" must constitute the most idiotic question of all time. This is true because it has absolutely no meaning without first determining "What we are", a question which remains unanswered to this very day. Answering this question will determine the extent to which an individual is demonstrating thought at all. Therefore, if you do not think then you cannot claim to be. So how can thought be adequately defined in order to solve this problem?
Is thought a function of the brain or is it a function of mind and can it be realistically claimed that mind and brain are one and the same? To separate "mind" from "brain" for the purposes of this debate, it is important to understand the kinds of behavioral processes which do not require mind and those for which mind is critical.

10 minutes of introduction was completely gratuitous.
