Well since the original mod was cancelled, i guess im kinda obligated to make some sort of lore/backstory for these versions for the triple trouble cast....
So yeah. Here's my version of the backstory.
So basically Xenophanes is from a group of entities that were searching for vessels and stuff, and he was the leader.
They eventually find a sonic the hedgehog cartridge, and xenophanes sets his mission to get the characters in the game ready to be used as hosting vessels.
First, he waits for sonic to be knocked out by something. Like running into a wall or something by accident, and he takes over his body.
It then starts as the normal sonic exe story, but instead its the new xenophanes design and xenophanes is alot less violent, as he only tries to knock out all of the characters.
With tails, he tried to knock him out by throwing a boulder at his head, accidentally hitting his arm instead resulting in his arm being ripped off. (tails also got knocked out from blood loss lol)
With knuckles, he tried to remove his ability to punch before knocking him out, accidentally corrupting his code, resulting in his arm straight up disappearing, and his fur mis-colored.
Xenophanes used his powers to try and make a hand for knuckles, and he was able to do it.
With eggman, he reprogrammed some badniks to knock eggman out, but the badniks cracked his skull open.
Xenophanes tried to restore his body with leftover code, resulting in his shadow-like appearance.
When he was finished, all the other entities entered the bodies, and they finally had bodies to use.
Oh uhm extra lore, the background in this version of triple trouble is basically just a corrupted version of palmtree panic zone (from sonic cd)
the reason for this is that xeno just all around sucks at coding and borrows code from everything, essentially making all the zones bugged in their own quirky ways.
So yeah thats basically it...
Its kinda boring, so maybe i'll refine it or something idk
or consoku makes canon lore, that would be cool

The finale segment with everyone ganging up on BF really gave the feeling that he truly was being surrounded.
What a peculiar remix and set of sprites to go along with it....
The remix has bits and pieces of Earthbound/Undertale soundfonts, as well as small "tuned" references to the characters themselves.
As comments from the previous video stated, this feels like the JP version of Triple Trouble, and while the previous video captured the "cryptid" feeling much better, there's still something strangely unsettling and almost magical, in a weirdly aesthical "bad way" about all this.
The stage has been reduced to red static of the destroyed world with only black and red outlines of palm trees showing during the victims turns to sing....
It's some sort of broken "void" world of the game; maybe Sonic.exe crafted it to trap BF.
It's like the Sonic CD secret Majin screen "feeling", combined with the VHS Needlemouse colors and aesthetic with a hint of the despair from "Prey" and "Fight Or Flight". It's an "under-your-skin"/"in-your-head" type of feeling. These classic characters have been stripped of their original joy and serve only to maintain the false facade of this failing world, collapsing in on itself.
"Nothing matters."
All in all, beautiful work on the sprites and background! This honestly feels like it deserves its own story/creepypasta and should honestly be featured in the Sonic.exe mod as a bonus secret/freeplay song.
My god, you wrote a whole essay on the references and the possible inspirations.

In The Island, Xenophanes was shown but Tails color was black. the tails aren't moving because it was a attachment. Tail's death was stabbed by his spine on the eyes by ripping off flesh, even tho Tail's in JPTripleTrouble doesn't include the remains or aftermath of Miles.
this is so cool! i love how the sprites seem to sink into the atmosphere, it really gives a true sense of a “drowning” feeling
the funny thing is, the artist drew it like this because he didnt want to draw legs lol

@@okc1254 honestly, fuck drawing legs. They always come out a bit wonky for me, or they SEEM fine, but I get some weird uncanny valley feeling from them and just scrap the whole drawing

Knuckles whole section is absolutely outstanding. I’ve never heard something so good besides punkett’s knuckles encore section. But both this and punkett’s are the best knuckles parts I’ve ever heard this one and punkett’s sound absolutely amazing. Knuckles section was always my favourite in OG triple trouble and this one and Punkett’s did such a amazing job it’s honestly Beautiful. Now this is triple trouble perfection.

It's a lot of very subtle changes for the most part but I'd say this is a major improvement. I love that tail's design is a bit more based on his actual design and his shading is much cleaner. Sonic is nice looking but I'd recommend having the idle or one of his poses have him smiling, that smile was probably the creepiest part about this sonic IMO. I like the better shading on knuckles too plus the little animation tweak so his body doesn't bend like before but rather just shifts. Eggman I honestly don't see a difference at all if there was one. I really like sonic's second phase however if I were you I would add a mouth or maybe make his eyes move like mouths to the left and right animations, without a clear way that sound is escaping it just makes me question why he doesn't sound muffled, but that one's just me.

Here's my take on the lore
After years of being tormented by xenophanes , sonic grew tired and made a plan , after managing to squeeze some info about the void from xenophanes , the place where the exe's come from during his years of torment and made a plan. He took a ring and while distracting xenophanes he opened a portal to the void and jumped in. Inside he was in literal "nothingness" after what felt like centuries he heard a voice "So you grew tired of his torment? This looks very interesting..." He couldn't see what he was talking to but set his plan to motion. He asked the thing to help him deafeat xenophanes. The creature and his acolytes discussed some things before saying they'll help sonic defeat xenophanes if sonic gave them his body as a host. Sonic being the hero he was agreed to sacrifice himself. The creature finally revealed his name to be "Xaklas" and possessed sonic (sonic is still alive just powerless to control his body) and flew through the ring into his world suprising xenophanes. He then used xenophane's impatient and immaturity against him and trapped him in the void. But found that Sonic's friends were already dead. Sonic inside Xakla's body was devastated but Xaklas just laughed and said "Well that makes things easier" he then used a ring to open a portal to the void and send out his archons to possess the dead bodies of Sonic's deseased friends. Sonic in his broken mind deluded himself into thinking that those things are now his friends.
Their names are Zabaoth (tails) , Astaphanos (knuckles) and Selaios (eggman). Their slightly weaker than Xaklas but Xaklas is more of and elder brother to them than a boss.
I might add their abilities and personality later lol.

I actually prefer the first version of Sonic- this updated one is amazing don't get me wrong, but v1 actually did make me feel...unnerved and creeped out (in a good way ofc lol)
Soncho is supposed to be scary and stuff, and that smile on v1 definitely gave that feeling of uneasiness- like he's trying to appear friendly and stuff but you can tell something is off-

@@Gargan_guy I will admit though. Something about v1 Soncho's smile was off putting. And v2 Soncho's angry face strikes me as a beast who's façade completely failed and now is like "Fuck it, time to go ham." I'd love to see a mix between v1 and v2 Soncho. Combining the creepy v1 elements into his first 2 segments, and his angry form in the last.

Well I think he doesn't want to ruin them because he needs them to be good vessels so his friends could possess them and have a good vessel to work with

I honestly like this version more than original, mainly because the original was faithful to a very bad creepypasta, meanwhile this takes the surrealism of Needlemouse and just runs with it. Also the music slaps
