- Hatari band from Iceland have been asked about the rocket attacks, that happened that day in the south of Israel, but they were not allowed to finish that topic. According to the press conference host, that was due to time limitations. Video recorded during Iceland's press conference at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv, Israel.

I stand with Hatari and disagree with the host interrupting but I do think that she herself isn't the one making the decision to interrupt. I believe she has an earpiece in which they give her directions to guide the conference. I'm certainly not defending her behaviour, but I don't think we should put the blame on her as a host. 3 years ago, the Ukrainian representative took the victory with a song "1943". During the competition Jamala declared that it was not a political song. After winning, she said that the song had political connotations. Ukraine is not punished for this.Therefore, we conclude that it is quite okay to provoke Russia, but not Israel.

Israel & Palestine get so much attention because Israel is actually a normal western country with democratic values and has a decent level of control over the situation, Arab/Muslim Israelis represent a quarter of the population and get equal rights, and Israel provides electricity and water among other things to both the West Bank & Gaza, not to mention Tens to even Hundreds of thousands of them have work permits to work in Israel and get much higher salaries while they aren't even citizens when they also have their own elected self-governing body, The major issue is that the one in the west bank is corrupt and the one in Gaza is practicing Terrorism by literally teaching pre-schoolers that self-destructing on Israeli civilians and shooting rockets at them is an act of Justice, while both bodies stopped doing elections.
If Israel just hands over total freedom over the west bank not only will Palestinian lives worsen since Israel will not really provide stuff for them anymore (And their government is corrupt), They will also be able to practice terrorism meters apart from the heart of Israel. It's not even a theory, It's a fact, Israel already did hand total freedom to Gaza and that exactly what happened, They elected the terrorist entity called Hamas which stopped elections and started running it as a Dictatorship terrorist state placing rocket launchers over hospital buildings and funding it's military rather than it's people, Heck it was written up until recently in it's literal covenant that It seeks to destroy Israel. And that's besides all the logistical issues of moving hundreds of thousands of people and building them homes outside the west bank and afterwards giving control over land and places Important to Judaism and Jewish history to an unstable entity which refused peace numerous times and sought to destroy Israel, Or simply getting the Israeli public to agree to a ludicrous one-sided proposal like that because some people from Iceland are putting pressure on it when they haven't felt the pressure of the Rocks, Molotovs and Missles sent daily at their doorstep.

Lol what? The EBU themselves are the ones to warn and ask hatari to not talk about politics because it's against the Eurovision rules. Even the Palestinian flag was completely forbidden by the EBU (along with alot of controversial flags), so the EBU will sanction Iceland for that. The ebu probably instructed the host to finish, if someone says something political.

I'm speechless everytime when matthìas listens full concentrate to long questions, then quickly summerizes his answer in his head and explains everything such clearly, one by one. I really admire and respect this kind of people cause it shows how respectful and polite someone is. It's also remarkable how he can use language very effective even in a foreign language (since he is a playwright maybe).
As long as the politics in Eurovision are underground it's fine but when an artist want's to raise a political issue in a heavily political competition then they are not allowed to speak up.

I never said art HAS to be political. I said it usually always is or has a darker meaning behind it. Some of the happiest songs were born out of a tragic experience.

Sorry, but targeting schools and hospitals and then claiming that it's just "collateral damage" is just a way for you to take away Israels culpability. Any human being with a heart would know that to bomb a hospital or a school not only is a war crime in international law, but is premeditated. There is never an excuse to bomb schools and hospitals unless you are a ruthless regime.
Don't even get me started on how Israel routinely fires missiles into Syria and in the past Lebanon without ANY provocation. You never see it spoken about in western media. Thank God I know people in these countries living through what is happening over there.
Open your eyes and realise that Israel is no friend to the west. I'm not even telling you to side with the palestinians, i'm just asking you to start reading things that challenge your view on Israel instead of reading only pro-Israeli literature. Listen to the testimonies of Arabs who have suffered. If you don't trust Muslim testimonies, then listen to the Arab Christians. Just at least try and see it from their point of view instead of relying on our extremely biased media. I don't blame you for not knowing all of this stuff, I used to be that way. I used to consider myself pro-Israel and pro-zionism. I used to think that Palestinians were awful people who wanted to kill Jews and westerners. Once I started to be challenged on my beliefs I started to see how different things actually are. Our media and western governments keep so much information to themselves because if we all knew the truth their dodgy dealings in the middle east would be exposed.
I don't wish to argue anymore, I just hope you actually look into this more.

Facet zapytał się ich co sądzą o Izraelu i konflikcie z Palestyna. Gdy zapytał się o ostatnie ostrzeliwania na południu kraju, prowadzoca zaczęła mówić że powinniśmy przejść dalej. Jak jakaś babka się odezwała że powinni moc to ona powiedziała że czas minął. A mają z tym tyle wspólnego że przed Eurowizja wiele razy, nawet w izrealskiej telewizji mówili publicznie o tym jakie zło wyrządza wojna z Palestyna.
