Saw the monk yesterday going from NYNY to MGM. He tried handing me a bracelet and I yelled “HEY IVE SEEN YOU ON TIKTOK” he didn’t seem as amused as I was 😂😂
Saw everyone of these things last week when hubby and I were in Vegas. Just kept on walking past everyone of them. They've even got it posted on Fremont Street that street performers are not part of the Fremont Experience and cannot demand payment, which was new since last August when we last visited.
When we were there in February, the monk was extremely aggressive. He actually put that “lucky” bracelet on my husband’s wrist. I demanded he take it off & to stop touching my husband. I was shocked at how quickly it happened.
We had someone try to scam us on the street with the old "you ran into me, causing me to drop my phone, the screen is cracked now, and you should pay $300 to replace it." He then aggressively followed us for a while, yelling and trying to make a scene. In truth, he ran into me in a not-crowded area and slammed his shoulder into me on purpose. Go away, scammer!
I must be that old lady with low self esteem because in Las Vegas airport on the way home I was stopped by these people It cost me around 200 dollars to learn a lesson that until now was too embarrassed to say anything 😅
It’s ok. It’s not that you have low self esteem & certainly not that you’re older. These people are very skilled at pulling you in. And they pull lots of people in or they’d be closed. Chalk it up to a lesson! You’re wonderful!
I got reeled in by the cosmetic scammers too, drunk on my way to pick up a pizza. Next day I see I have a $800 charge on my credit card and a bag full of shit I didn't have any idea what to do with. I think I gave it all to the cleaning lady just wanting to forget about the whole experience.
I was just there and saw the monk and the self proclaiming show girls. What a joke. I asked them for twenty bucks so I could get some gas for my car. 😮
I have seen all of these many times going to Vegas. The one that gets me is the monk with the beads because they pretend not know English, and I dislike immensely the young ladies that tell you you basically look old and they got something to make you look younger. One rule of thumb in Vegas. Never accept anything from anybody in your hand because they want money.🤑
Vegas is full of a lot of people who use the high traffic to take advantage of unsuspecting people as they go about their day I’m pretty sure iv seen the monks selling religious handmade crafts my last time there Great video I liked this one
@@checkoutmyyoutubepage There's not pretense of virtue in my comment. It's just an expression of general disappointment in how over-the-top expensive LV has gotten over the years. Do you understand that?
I'm a local, but I don't go to the Strip often, so I hadn't heard about the monk thing. I saw one at Foodieland at the Speedway this past weekend. I didn't understand what he was trying to do so thanks for posting this video.
We have the exact same thing with the fake monks, and mixtape scammers have been pulling that crap in Times Square since cd burners existed. No skin care scams, but one guy outside nintendo handed me candy saying he's with Boys Club of NY, and I'm like "Get that %&@$ outta my face!"
UPDATE: I went to Atlantic City for the first time recently, and we only saw one fake Buddhist monk, and he barely made an effort to sell it. He had a yellow bucket hat, yellow dashiki, and instead of wooden balls on a string around his wrist it was some cheap friendship bracelet from the local vendors. I felt bad laughing, but not that bad.
I’m a Vegas local have been for most of my life, and the showgirls caught me off guard lol. Was walking down there with my girl and my best friend and they stopped us and we had our phones out and were like omg take pictures with us and I did so without thinking and then after they demanded we give them money and I threw a $20 bill at them and told them to scram lol I didn’t realize it was a scam before and they were screaming they wanted more when we were walking off
This should be required watching for first time visitors. The fake showgirls cannot legally set a price since they're performing their "art" for tips. Tip them what you think is fair and move along..
I am from Queens, New York, and every time I am forced to go to Times Square (I can't stand that place), the CD music scammers are all over the place !! I have seen the monks as well, but not as much as the music scammers. Thank you for the great video.
I watched a guy get his wallet stolen while his son was taking a picture with Optimus prime . Vegas is a place that u must assume everybodys a scammer.
I think their bodies looked more than fine in fact better than the average person, the one girl just had on WAY too much makeup (In my opinion, it was far away tho. this could be part of the outfit though like cheerleading or acting on a stage. Sometimes calls for gaudy makeup.) and their outfits had literally no effort put into them. They were just wearing a thong for pants. I wanna see frills and sequins all over the place. If you want to be worth a 100 dollars for a picture you better look worth the price.
Every body is fine but those girls are not "showgirls." Those look like cheap rented costumes and they honestly do not have showgirl poise, posture or physique. What a scam.
I was approached by the same Vegas girl two nights in a row harassing me for a picture. The first night was in front of the Bellagio and the second night was on Fremont. She was really upset that i refused to take a picture with her.
Thanks for these. I would like to think I wouldn’t fall for any of these. But my husband 🙄..back in the 00’s he lost $20 to a “discount show tickets” (time share scam) I was like wow, you off to a bad start, we got married that trip 😅
pre covid you could walk the entire strip and you'd maybe only see 2-3 sets of them and they were attractive. now do the same thing and you'll see 20 sets most of whom are fat and ugly both inside and out.
We have those monks on Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago too. They'll ask whether you want "peace" or "love." They'll write down in a little notebook which one you want and how much you paid.
That's why I don’t interact with any street hustlers. They're all shady-looking. The skincare people often run kiosks in malls and they try to force their samples on you. I always ignore them.
The "showgirls" are actually employed by a company. Nevada law does not allow to demand payment for street performers, it was that way for years. Gosh my hometown has changed so much, and not for the better.
Don’t buy cd’s. They will be blank………….. They will also try to take your wallet. Don’t buy headphones (or anything else) at those electronic stores and kiosks. That stuff is overpriced and sh*t.
The only time I was taken in like this was in Hong Kong in 1973. I had a friend take a picture of me with Red China in the background when an old chinese couple squeezed into the picture and then demanded money. It was actually worth it and I still have the pic today.
I had a young man go up to me ask me if I would help him out getting his record company started by donation for a cd or shirt I said what a good amount $ he said what ever I wanted to SO I gave a 20 spot.he was very thankfully. I told him about all these different scams on the strip he agreed. And I use to live in vegas. If it was a scam I had a great 10 minutes talking to him he seemed reel genuine
I just got back from vegas and bought a tshirt off some guy who claimed he was a local artist he walked up to me i said what you doing ye said.any donation for a tshirt i gave him $20 he was actually a nice guy I talked to him for a few minutes.
i took a picture with the show girls out of pressure and only handed them $5 bucks to two girls. they looked dissapointed lmao, but seriously who carries a lot of cash these days
And the oxygen bars they scout the hungover! I was absolutely mortal from a hangover and they wanted 60 dollar's for some tube in ye nose and peppermint oil, Luckily I'm Irish, as soon as i started shouting she let me off fer free but please be careful x
More and more people are staying local and go to their local casinos so they don’t have all these annoying things happening. Just go to local casino, gamble a bit, have a great meal and a nice room. Enjoy your comps and go home. 👍👍👍👍

Well guys, don’t fall for the “girl to your room” scam. Very dangerous and you are definitely going to get screwed. Just not the screw you were looking for.
The monk one. It was clearly a fake monk. I’m a granddaughter to a Buddhist monk and I’ve seen plenty of real monks in real life. I also know how real monks will legitimately try to get proceeds in public for a temple.
