Plants to include in your garden to help repel mosquitos: 1. Basil 2. Lemongrass 3. Catnip 4. Mint 5. Marigolds 6. Chives 7. Citronella 8. Lavender 9. Rosemary 10. Ageratum
Citronella works here in india.... But the leaves should be crushed, even basil and marigolds....so when the marigold flowers are plucked pinched off After they are spent (withered)....easy way to get thr oils in the air for mosquitoes to get repelled
0:24 - lol yep you said it. Mosquitos really do. it's like dang just go elsewhere or just don't bite me then it's whatevs. thx for this vid. very appreciated.
Just watch me plant each and every one of these in giant rings around my backyard. Watch me grow a freaking rosemary tree to surround my back porch. Watch me absolutely lay in all of those plants. Watch me make a freaking lawn out of the ones that need to be crushed in order to do the thing. I hate mosquitoes and I want them a mile away from me at all times.
@@autumnspring6624 he has set them free, with a way to stop reproduction and, if he wants to depopulate he and the rest should start with their families and themselves the world would be a better place.
Heck yea, i just planted a whole bunch under my window sill. They're in a kinda shallow tub but yours looks perfectly fine. Maybe i transplant next year. If it needs it.
Thanks for the excellent video - very informative! I’m a skeeter magnet and find the only way to survive Arkansas summers is to spray myself heavily with OFF after my morning shower. Not so good for my lungs, but needs must.
@@scottm5167 Thanks for the information. I always read the comments and nice to know if I was going to waste my time on something that doesn’t work out.
Hi thanks for the advice, i live in the UK and have planted some of these round my wildlife pond as it was full of larvae....mosquito or otherwise... So a thumbs up from me :)
You didn't say anything about garlic. At my previous house mosquitoes were a terror from Spring to Fall. I would get bunches of garlic, separate the cloves and toss them around my yard. It works good.
I will move my herb plants closer to the sitting area. I would like to be more earth-friendly but the best thing found is commercial Black flag fogger fluid in a propane fogger..I can sit under the stars for 6 to 8 hours.
Mix a little cactus mix into your planting soil when you plant them again - it gives good drainage for plants that don't like too much water. When you get a lot of rain, they will drain better. On the flip side, if you have dry spells, you will need to keep them watered.
We have a garden (Vegetables) Every year. I have Purple basel, green basel, rosemary, mint, Green onions, about 6 each. Nothing works for those baggers. The inly one that kinda works Is the citronella plants That I have and I grow them every year from my cuttings
Been browsing the comments and haven’t (yet) found how much I need to plant of whichever.... anyone have any insight please? I bought about 2 “Mosquito Plants”, 2 Rosemary plants, 3 or 4 Thyme plants... I need to protect my deck or I’ll be indoors again forever!
OMG , the girl is beautiful I couldn't even concentrate on what she was saying . Had to watch it three times and finally stop looking just to learn about the plants ..... 🐰
Do I plant them around my garden? Rub them on skin? Eat them? I have a rosemary plant and lemon grass plant but they did nothing for me. Mosquitoes flock to me as soon as I step out ! Should I plant all these plants in my garden then ?
Not true! I'm tired of people saying this. None of these plants keep these insects away from the garden. I have almost all of them and no standing water, have at least 25 ft distance from neighbors and mosquitos still treat it like it's their park. They only work when on your body/clothing.
The lemongrass might. The oil is known to be psychoactive. Lightly psychoactive. You aren't going to see the living room as a cartoon.. but it could help. Worth a shot. The tea is tasty anyways. They sell stalks of it at Asian markets or lots of farmers markets do too. You pop them in cup of an inch or two of water until roots are coming in good. Then plant them. Or you just buy the stalks, mash one a bit, and toss it into a small pot of water, bring to a boil and turn the heat off. Let it sit for 10 - 20 mins. And its good. Something to do anyway. Take your mind off of things.
Try happy colors, flowers, tranquil music. Nice smells, like roses. Easy on sweets, eat many vegetables and whole grains. Get toxic people out of your life, and those things that remind you of them. Change your environment. Remember that you are unique and precious in God's eyes. Choose to be happy and think about happy things. Pray often. Look for the good in others. Open the curtains and let some sunlight shine in. Plant a garden, and make it beautiful. Count your blessings.
FRISHR use lavender, lemongrass and peppermint oils they are a miracle :) I use my self and you won’t regret. Also put a a spoon of pink Himalayan salt to a gallon of water let it dissolve drink it! It has lots of minerals that will help 100%
can i plant all or a few of these plants together in my backyard? we have a serious mosquito issue due to the retention pond in the neighborhood behind ours and we live in the South so outdoor living is important to us but at this point almost unbearable.
This makes me want to take the biggest mosquito that I can find and throw it in a jar with all of the plants and flowers mentioned in this video as revenge
Dear, I don't have those seeds to plant except big species of hooker chives and marigolds. You may come for gardening here 🇮🇳 or send the seeds. Thank you.
You know those electronic plugs that emitt a particular wavelength that repells insects? How about a wrist worn insect repelling band that does the same as the plug? Does such a thing exist? You're not going to be carrying hyacinth plants around everywhere.
Never ever plant lemongrass unless you want to ruin your lawn. Its like kudzu in terms of how it spreads. It will be everywhere after a couple of years. I'm shocked that its even sold in garden centers.
Citronella planta and mint inferior my mango trees all over the backyard, and in summer you crush leaves and rub them in your legs and no mosquitos come near
Thank you for showing a live plant of each. Always better than a picture.
It’s the oils not the plants that repel mosquitos. I got tons of these and mosquitoes basically shelter among them.
Are u serious 🤦🏽♂️
False on 1 of them plants. Citronella isn't a replant unfortunately. Look it up
@@123lilman1231 I had a Citrionella candle in the patio last summer and I use to find dead mosquitoes all in the wax of it
Wait! Are you saying they liked it? That would be bad. I already see that citronella doesn’t seem to help
Great video! I have mint everywhere and a bit of everything... it certainly works!
Thank you. Another video discredited the citronella warding off mosquitoes, but they did not mention anything about crushing the leaves.

Thanks admin FB and this Lady, good narrator for your excellent presentation, straight forward and learn a lot, may God Bless You always
The problem is those plants have to be crushed in order to work. Are there any plants that do have to be crushed to repel mosquitoes ?
I have a bunch of mint planted throughout my yard (of 3 varieties) and I’ve often found the mosquitoes camping out on the mint plants...
They're inevitable

Try Avon Skin so Soft!
Mosquito come and sit on my Marigold plant after having party with my blood.
Good idea, might put some window sill Planters around my deck in addition to my citronella candles
How many plants of each because I have at least one of 7 of these on the list and we have tons of mosquitoes.
Did you ever figure it out???? Please share, if so!
That's because it doesn't work. Check other videos.

Fish Tales what did you plant? How effective was it?
You didn't say anything about garlic. At my previous house mosquitoes were a terror from Spring to Fall. I would get bunches of garlic, separate the cloves and toss them around my yard. It works good.
but did that make your yard reek of garlic? lol
It works for me! I planted 2 society garlic and an adult size citronella in my backyard mosquitoes no more!
Awesomw
Okay if you love that perfume !!
I put some of these near me while in my porch swing etc but I will squeeze a few leaves a bit to bring out the smell a lot more.

we have a lot of mints and basils in our yard. they are useless against mosquitos.
When crushed key phrase! And with the citronella plant there are two breads and one doesn't do the job.

Maybe the same would work for you as a mosquito repellent ? Not joking !
citronella works only when crushed
Nice information 👍🏽!

Lemon grass is known as fever grass in trinidad. Lemon grass tea
I always wondered what fever grass was. Heard about it on Ras Kitchen.
Lemon grass and citronella aren't the same thing !
I have many citronella plants around me... still those mosquitoes are flying around laughing at me. 😠
So they don’t really work?
I bought some french marigold for try out , didn't work! More mosquitoes, even sitting around the plants.
I want plants that naturally, while sitting in pots around my deck, deter mosquitos. Will the plants do that or do you have to crush and rub on you?
It doesn't seem so... crushin leves seems the way to go !
Does Thai basil also repel mosquitos?
But can it repel my depression?

do these also keep away fruit flies?

there are a lot of types. The one she showed looked like pesto basil

Are any of these 10 plants harmful to dogs or can I just put them in the backyard with no problem lol
I have grown many mosquito repelling plants and not 1 of them actually repels mosquitos.
not true on the mint ...well I have strawberry mint . the mosquitoes(males) are swarming the flowers. It might be limited to my variety of mint.
