I am the type of player that has over 3k hours into battleground games, but only plays in private servers because of ping. I am the type of player that knows more than even the game creator on how physics and moves works, but once I go into a public server my ping drops from 50 to about 120-1k. So when I try to doge an attack I get comboed by a move that hit me 20ft away, and I melee people and they walk out of my combos, not doge, WALK!
The funny part about heroes battlegrounds is that kill stealing is very unlikely to happen because of how the game gives kills based on damage. So all they end up doing is helping you in the fight.

Legit the only way to fight runners is to either kill them in a single combo (keep them at around half and then finish them before they can run from getting too low), play a character like sonic in TSB where you're so fast they can't hope to escape from you, or use a grab attack like Tatsumaki in TSB or Megumi in JJS.
