One of the lovely corners of little country Armenia is Shirakamut, a village in the Lori region that until 1978 was known as Nalband. In the memory of some people the village continues to be remembered by the old name. Unfortunately, the name of the village more often referred as the epicenter of Spitak 1988 earthquake in the result of the whole village and 2 churches one in the center of the village and the medieval church Chichkhanavank were ruined. Churches’ ruins stood 20 years along heads lowered as the croon of prayers was silenced by earthquake. But God works in mysterious ways and you never know where the sun will rise and herald the awakening of new life. To the delight for all of us our diaspora compatriots, who had brought "Land and Culture" charitable organization, decided to sponsor the archaeological excavations of the medieval Chichkhanavank area
