    Dude...if you're at the point of blaming modern strings for your guitar sounding like shit, you're already too far gone. It's not hard to make even a $200 Epiphone sound pretty good, but an actual good guitarist can make any cheap guitar sound incredible...and it's not because they bought a $5,000 unused pack of strings from 60+ years ago to play with 🙄

    • @briankeenan4901
      @briankeenan4901 23 дня назад

      We're talking about sound. Not playability. The strings would ring better, like a fine tuned bell . Did you play an acoustic guitar 50 years ago? No, I'm sure you did not. The strings had much better tone. Listen to any acoustic song from the 60s or 70s. The guitar strings sounded better. They were better. I actually think crappy strings have made me a better player, Just to make up for the lack of string quality. If you want to complain to somebody about something or just demean or negatively criticize someone, take it down the street. I'm stating facts here , you're just barking .

      @@briankeenan4901 wait...so you're either going by how they sounded when they were originally recorded in a studio on a warm sounding analog reel to reel OR from a personal memory from over a half century ago (because we all know how infallible and accurate our memories remain across 5 decades)?? I'm sorry that I didn't agree with your wildly obscure premise (that no one else shares) and you got defensive, but where was a SINGLE FACT ever mention in your video? It was all an assertion based opinion lacking any actual specifics to back up your claims. (Go rewatch your own video and point out A SINGLE VERIFIABLE FACT stated that wasn't just you relentlessly insisting that "it's the strings Maaaannn...trust me bro") I'll wait. Did you ever even consider the possibility that-JUST maybe-your hearing has naturally degraded over the past 50 years due to both older age and from playing live music for so long??

      @@mymusicaljesus Hey, were you th😮ere? WERE YOU THERE? No, Obviously you were not. The Quality of anything containing metal has slid down to trash. We used to have coins in the USA that were made of Silver. Then they started using copper in the middle. Things have moderately declined in quality. I predicted that people would not agree, especially people that were not there. I also predicted they would bring up recording equipment, etc. Wrong. It's the strings. They make them with cheaper and lower quality components. They suck. Yes, They suck. It was a pleasure to buy a nice set of strings in those days and the pick would bounce off of them with a certain vibe that you cannot experience anymore. And don't blame peoples hearing and other crap. If ( and I expect you do) you think a RUclips video has great sound, with a mp3 or MP4 encoding, it doesn't. It's missing a whole spectrum of sound that we used to hear through nice speakers and a decent stereo system off of vinyl. Yes, Your strings are Crap. The wire used is of inferior quality and it's impossible to get wire of the quality used 50 years ago. Things have not improved in 50 years. The quality of things is quite inferior. And don't blame me, Thank your government for sending our jobs to other countries and lying to you about quality. Suck it up and realize that we are stuck with junk. That's right, Junk. And you can buy all the vintage high quality guitars you want and they will never sound as good as they did in the 70s. Strings used to break. Yes, they would break quite often , for no reason. Not anymore. We have traded sound quality for durability. Coated strings so they last longer? Longer than what? The millennium? The strings are Crap.And That Is A Fact. PERIOD .

      @@briankeenan4901 Dude, you're fucking hilarious with the amount of excuses and coping you're doing. Holy shit, dying on the dumbest hill with an opinion that people straight up don't agree with or share is wild. I asked you to do ONE THING, point out A SINGLE VERIFIABLE FACT in your video because you kept saying that you were only saying facts, AND YOU STILL couldn't even do the bare minimum and point to where you stated any. Instead, I was bombarded with an unhinged, longest single paragraph, boomer manifesto where you addressed nothing relevant while also swinging by to dip your toes in the conspiracy pool real quick. You made up so many assumptions about me that you then proceeded to get mad about over (a boomer favorite). You even tried to argue that hearing and memories don't degrade over 50 years, which I was trying to be generous and leave you an out, but even that set you off onto some other tangent while still dodging the main point which was to SHOW ME THE "FACTS" you supposedly had in your video - which you still can't do.

    Yes, The strings were better back then. The winding equipment was better, the technicians were more astute, the metal was new. None of these things apply anymore. There were more Guitar companies making strings. Competition was fierce. The strings rang better with the steel that was available in the USA. Nowadays you're probably getting steel alloys from recycled Datsuns and Hyundais. Not from Cadillacs and Buicks. Just listen to any acoustic guitar hit from the old days. It's a whole different sound. You could mesmerize souls with the sustain of those beautiful strings. Not anymore .

    How much more are Anglos going to mangle the word “Ibáñez”, which is the correct spelling of the original Spanish word. Those guitars originated in Spain, not in Japan. “Ibáñez” is the last name of the creator of such guitars. First, the Japanese screwed up the spelling. You see “n” and “ñ” are very different letters (the latter does not exist in English). Here’s a quick example: The word “ano” means “anus.” Whereas the word “año” means “year.” Thus, “ano” and “año” are very different things! After the Japanese did the initial damage, the Anglos destroyed the pronunciation of the word. I remember walking into a guitar store in Toronto in the early 80s to ask if they had any left-handed “Ibáñez” guitars. Nobody understood me! After a few awkward moments, I decided to venture through the store on my own. The, I saw a guitar labelled “Ibanez.” I quickly understood what had happened, especially after the clerk mispronounced the word. Billions of dollars are spent every year trying to teach Spanish to speakers of English and there isn’t one who can pronounce this word correctly? It makes my ears bleed!

    • @briankeenan4901

      Um, Thank you. I always wondered about that. But without hearing the pronunciation correctly, we will still mess it up.

    Thanks for presenting this. My first guitar was a Harmony, the domed top kind with the "f" holes like violins have. My guitar instructor spotted it in my hometown dump with the back busted out of it. He cut a dark piece of wall paneling to fit and painted a white line around it. He sold it to my mother for $25 in 1965 and in today's money that's $225! I don't know where my mother came up with the money, but music influenced my whole life. I always played only at home until recently and shocked the open mic goers were seriously liking my music. I still get nervous so playing isn't all that fun until the applause and impact that reassures me, although I know such creative motivation and motivation to perform must come from within like all in life. Thanks for sharing this! I liked your Don McLean video too!
