How to make Waxed Sand for trapping
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.7 часов назад
I’ve found the best combination to wax flake/ sand ratio. 3 cups per 12lbs of sand. I got my sand from under a bridge down the way. It is much cheaper to make your own sand vs buying it.

2023 Opening Day For Iowa Trapping - Setting and Baiting Dog Proofs
If you see trap dug up again check 4 corners of trap see if it wobbles. And dont wear the gloves you put trap in with to put bait in. Will get smell on traps cause them to dig down. Hope that helps
I usually do my bait holes 12-16 inches deep. Shallow holes get robbed
Just throw away that cheap strap carry by metal handle
Don't make your set quite so big, you want your trap to sit tight in the space. Look at a cookie cutter, they're great. Also just from experience with thier product, check out the lures from Hoosier Trapper Outdoors, they have some if the best I've used. Good luck!
If you cant get drill deep enough use your stake driver pound a deeper hole
Hope you get one. I usually make trap hole just big enough for trap to fit. Sets up tighter
Got my Thumbs Up! Was no stupid or redundant music! Interesting to follow along with the progress. Just an overall down-to-earth video. Thanks for sharing
I’m glad I don’t live anywhere cold again. F that
I don't like to have a year without snow...
HOW does that help in trapping ?
In case you didn’t know, there’s this crazy mystical search engine that answers all your questions. You can know a thing before you’re finished asking your question to someone else and waiting for a reply. Crazy!
@@dontlistentoanythingisaythere's also this concept called courtesy you need to look up.
It's used as bedding for traps to keep them dry and functional.
Not bad , not bad at all
Where u at in Iowa I’m a trapper also in
Great job buddy!! I've made a lot of waxed dirt and last year got a small cement mixer that really sped up production! Thank you for sharing and Good luck with everything!
I’ll have to look into one for next year. Hoping to get a shed next year to store stuff. Next summer I’ll have to store some in a 55 gal drum!
1st time viewer! Hello from Cape Cod, Mass! Good content! Keep posting and I’ll watch it!
Glad to see ya make some catches buddy! Its been a weird season for me too with the raccoons! Good luck with everything my friend!
I don't need hurt or killer raccoons. They have raccoons around yard. You sick killer 😡
Disgusting you killer raccoons ! Leave raccoons alone they have baby never know you are so sick person ever. I don't like all your video see killer raccoons. You have no heart . 😡
PUT THE JACK MACKEREL JUICE IN A SPRAY BOTTLE AND SPRAY SOME OF THE GRASS
JACK MACKEREL FISH WILL FILL EVERY TRAP YOU HAVE
ANIMALS WILL CHEW THEIR LEG OFF TO GET FREE
Awesome day my friend! Congrats! Thank you for sharing! Good luck with everything!
Disgusting killer raccoons 😡
I think you're doing a great job buddy but if you are going to lure the dogproofs just lay the stick by the trap instead of throwing it? Wishing you the best of luck and love your videos! Good luck with everything my friend!
Thanks for the tip! Didn’t even think of that.
Nice catchesevrn the opossums lol thats I've caught this week lol.
Only got 1 raccoon today. Super slow night with the weather we’ve been having.
Good luck man!
Good luck my friend!
Not sure exactly where you’re trapping but I think you’re near me. I’m in iowa falls. Me and my son trapped for about a week with dog proofs probably caught over a hundred. Just stopped because we really just were doing it for fun and it’s a lot of work. But there is definitely a lot of good area around here that I didn’t even go to. I think like you said the area you are trapping is too open you might catch one random coon coming through but with the corn picked the activity will go way down in those areas. Good luck on the rest of your season
Yeah, timber would help you out a lot.
Congrats my friend! Thank you for sharing!
I only do head shots
Best way to get your traps stolen
Congrats! Thank you for sharing my friend!
Keep after it bud!! Thank you for sharing!
Water is ur friend for trapping racoons...set the trails along the water
Good looking sets! I'm looking forward to the checks! Good luck with everything my friend!
I dont see any cover on that road for racoons to live...need timber
Try acidtone on skunk
Man it's always a challenge balancing deer hunting, trapping and work. Good luck man!
No kidding! But you’re forgetting about football. Luckily there’s enough time between final light and the night games to not miss much game time!
Do you skin the animals you catch
Yes I do!
The key takeaway that I heard, you aren’t giving up. That was worth a “subscribe” to me!
Thank you for the kind words!
I enjoyed your video tight chain my man👍
Much appreciated!
I accidentally caught myself last year while putting the bait in the dirt hole, I lost my balance and I didn’t want to land on my backing, so I put my hand down, and my fingertip caught in the trap, and when I say that finger was swollen.. it was the size of a golf ball almost, and it hurt pretty bad
Nothing in 48 hours
Thank you for sharing my friend!
😅
Gotta applaud spending time our with man's best friend, but get yourself the appropriate dog for the activity at hand. Also not smart to put a video of you breaking the law on the internet. (assuming youre standing on the road and not your driveway as you fired the shotgun)
Thanks for watching! You’re obviously well informed on our road pheasant hunting laws!
@CentralIowaTrapping Not trying to be some internet complainer, video is awesome. I looked into it further and I apologize, you were correct! ....I've never seen a reg. that is worded in such a way, it more often then not says 50 feet each way from centerline of roadway with any firearm.
Well you're using a mossberg shotgun 1st mistake, 2nd a German Shepherd isn't a bird dog...might like to retrieve toys & balls, but birds are totally different. Next time try a red Ryder bb gun & chihuahua. Good luck.
Thank you for sharing and Good luck this season my friend!!
thats the oddest looking bird dog ive ever seen? lol i would take my 175lb dane rabbit hunting.
He’s by no means a bird dog. But he loves chasing them.
Thats to bad about the poison ivy!! Nice looking gear! Funkes is top notch! Thank you for sharing and Good luck with everything this season my friend!
Funkes is my top go to trapping needs, awsone ownership there.
👍💪
Congrats! Thank you for sharing my friends!
