Such a sad story all the way around. The Lakota say the white man treats them like children. But, the Lakota can't restrain themselves from proximity to a beer store. Obama agreed to cede them a huge land parcel in their sacred Black Hills, but the tribal government can't agree on how manage it. The Lakotas need to quit blaming someone else for their situation. Then they need to kick the US government and its slave wages out and then be responsible for themselves and each other. They can do it. Question is, do they have the resolve and the patience? Their situation is "comfortable" in the sense that it doesn't require any responsibility or demands. sad thing about the income levels is that the average family of 5 lives on about $2,500.00 per year or about $500 per person per year. Not that is just over $1 dollar a day to live on and this is how we repaid the Native peoples, for taking everything from them, not only the land, animals for food, their religion,l their language and then put them in reservations and perhaps a few government commodities once in a while. We in America spend more rebuilding countries we broke in wars. Shame.
