My channel for everything musical in my world. Most of what I post here will be for family fun, events I go to, videos of my cats and videos for ukulele (both Baritone and Soprano), including some uke tutorials. You may also find some interesting videos showing other instruments for which I have a passion (Native Flute, Bowed Psaltery, Banjo, etc). I'm just an amateur who loves music and loves sharing my world. Hope you enjoy!

Today was a fun and busy day for us. We went to three festivals, played some fiddle, and had a miniature round of Dungeons and Dragons.  The festivals we went to were the 2024 Manton Apple Festival, the Shingletown Fall Festival and the Cottonwood Front Street Festival. We also went to our favorite local Red Bluff Nexus game Emporium. 1/8 size little fiddle from 1824 - our test drive after 16+ hours of restoration

Here we are looking and feeling a bit disheveled (it was a whirlwind-wipeout weekend), but we're having fun with the little 200 year-old fiddle named Pip. This is nuts... It's fun trying to find my intonation on such a tiny violin and I'm using a 1/8 size bow (hard not to run out of room on it) Jenni spent a lot of time (16 hours) on restoration for this little guy. Three violin sizes - 1/8, 1/2, 3/4 (testing intonation and sound quality on different fiddles)

It's surprising that my fingers can hit close to the mark on all three of these sizes. We're having a lovely time testing out all the different styles and sizes of many different instruments but violins are extra special for us. The 1/8 size fiddle named "Pip" was made in 1824. The 1/2 size fiddle named "Baby" is about 40 years old. The three-quarter size fiddle named "George Thomas" is over 12...

I'm behind in my video blogging. And now the video you have all been waiting for, Saturday, August 24… Possibly the least exciting day we have had in years. We ate breakfast twice, saw a friend Felicia, played with her dogs and her guitar. All in all, it was a pretty relaxing day.

@@thejenfo no madam I don't think it's sad because of the standard of playing, it's the actual tune I think is sad, no need to explain your a beginner, play it loud play it proud madam, and tell it how it really is! 🏴 Happy healthy peace ✌️

Nice on the concertina Madrone. I've been eyeing the Wren Anglo concertina, but I need to learn the instruments I already have!
OMG I totally get it - I still have mountain dulcimers, banjos, bowed psalterys, violas, cellos, trombones, trumpets, accordions, clarinets, oboes, silver flutes, ocarinas and a dozen other instruments in our music room just waiting to be played... but I need to nail down fiddle first :)

hey, this is great! I play the viola and I love it! just some friendly advice - work on your tone quality. make sure you're getting a good strong sound with each bow stroke, and try to play more in the middle of the bow instead of at the tip :)
Yes! and thank you for the suggestions - I know I always lean toward using mostly the top of my bow (this is actually a lot more bow than I normally use haha). I've only been playing about a year and a half and I'm self taught so I'm just enjoying the journey... <3 I appreciate any tips!

With the way the load is distributed from the string, you should have no issues with it. Looks like it was caused from a bonk and not from the string loading it. Awesome to see an heirloom like that being passed on!
@@modelenginerding6996 I love this little fiddle so much. And we never decided to fix it because the Luther checked it out and said whatever they used on it is solid and it's going hold. I play the heck out of this old fiddle and it brings me so much joy. It stays in tune so well. It fits like perfection in my arms.
