Hello, if you're using an FTP client like FileZilla, navigate to the local folder location where you want your files to get stored. Then transfer the files. If you are using a browser, downloaded files will store to the default download location for that browser. You can look at the browser settings to change it.

First, it depends on your computer. You can easily find tutorials online especially for Windows 10. FTP services are included right out of the box with Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS).

Hi, the -l option signifies the long list format. For additional details we recommend searching for "what is the "-l" command" in Google.

If you are trying to connect to an ExaVault account with FileZilla, email support@exavault.com and our support team would love to try and get things sorted out for you. SFTP uses the internet to share data. It is a protocol for transferring files that uses SSH (secure shell) which provides an additional level of security for your data transfers compared to traditional FTP.

To look for files or subdirectories in the remote directory, go to Commands --> Find Files. Use the Find dialog to filter. Search results should appear in the dialog box. If you are using a script to download files from your ExaVault account, you can script the delete.

For IP restrictions, ExaVault allows IP whitelisting which is managed in our application for your account.

FTP doesn't have weblinks inherently, which is why we have a Direct Link share feature. You can set a folder as a directly linked folder, and then you can find it's path inside the edit share modal. From there, you can append test.txt to the end of that link and it will work!

Hi, your login details should be provided by the FTP service provider. Here is what the connection to your ExaVault account with WinSCP might look like: Protocol: SFTP Address: bobsmith.exavault.com (this is your FTP server (host) name) Username: bobsmith Password: * (be careful about handing these out!) Port: 22 When you are all done, you can either click the Save button to save the connection information for future connections or click Login to get connected immediately to your server. Contact support for the software or service you are using for your site. To upload large files from your computer to your ExaVault account, once you are logged into the server with FileZilla, just drag the files from the right side to the left.

Good question. We support and recommend SFTP whenever possible. Unfortunately, some legacy systems don't have the ability to connect via SFTP or for some other reason they are not able to update to support protocols other than FTP.

A server that does not support any form of encryption, either TLS, SSL, FTPS, SFTP etc) is insecure because it sends your credentials (username / password) over cleartext - anyone who intercepts those packets will be able to see your credentials. This could be a server in between you and the FTP server, a rogue process on your computer (virus) or a rogue device on your network (hacker.) The data of what you are transmitting can also be intercepted, so your files could be at risk when they are being transmitted from the server to your machine. FileZilla is an FTP client which facilitates data transfer via FTP, FTP over TLS, or SFTP.

We would not recommend FTP for gaming. However, you could move around large video capture sessions via FTP.

The purpose of an FTP client is to have software that allows you to transfer files via FTP with a more user friendly interface than using command line. If you use Windows and are looking for an FTP client, you will find WInSCP to be useful.

Hi, it sounds like you are not trying to connect to ExaVault (iirc, we don't use gssapi at all). I would recommend that you reach out to your server administrator for assistance.

1) You'll have to edit the connection in FileZilla, if it's saved. If the credentials are incorrect, when you try to connect it'll pop up a username/password window. 2) The port number can be found in ExaVault, in the “connect to FTP” button you can find in our web application in the left hand bar. 3) That sounds like the server name is incorrect, if it can’t resolve the address. Resolving means finding the server through DNS. You also can find the correct FTP path in ExaVault’s “connect to FTP” button (see above)

Passwords should not be shared. We recommend choosing a complex password. Complex passwords should be at least 8 characters long as well as: Contain at least 1 uppercase letter Contain at least 1 lowercase letter And at least 1 number (0 through 9)
