@hermdo(I dont know how to reply on youtube anymore... google plus sucks) I don't believe Matt knew how to read/write music before because he didn't know what a bar of music was during the absolution era, recording "the small print" specifically. Maybe he learned as they wanted to grow musically, so that could be a possibility.
