Kwai Fung Salone is delighted to present "Blossoms", a solo exhibition of the esteemed Chinese writer and artist Jin Yucheng.
Born in 1952, Jin Yucheng was an “educated youth”, he had been a fitter, before working as a literary editor, and by now he has earned prominence for his novels. His career as a painter began in 2012 when he created 20 illustrations for his renowned novel Blossoms. Jin received general recognition for his illustrations, prompting him to further pursue painting. The novel Blossoms vividly portrays Shanghai during the 1960s and 1990s, often likened to the “Ukiyo-e” of that era in Shanghai and China, and has received multiple literary awards. These are beautiful!
I love the idea of using a black background, and presumably gold elsewhere, to bring out the colours of the paintings. It would have been nice to see more of the paintings themselves as, what little was shown, looked pretty impressive.
