I'm coming to a 2024 CAT 299 from a 2022 ASV RT135 due to complete lack of dealer support and months & months & months in the shop. When the RT135 worked, it was awesome. They FINALLY fixed the AC to the point it will freeze me out on a 95° day! You have me a bit nervous with your CAT review. Not being able to reach thru the door to start the machine is a major flaw. I've also had 4" branches come back and slap the ASV's door with zero damage, so I'm nervous about the windshield breaking on the CAT. Good A/C is mandatory with the disc mulcher in our heat. The ASV's suspension and air seat air definitely fantastic and I'm not looking forward to going to something rougher. The 135 is stupid loud. I wear noise canceling ear buds to play music to block it out, so quieter will be much welcomed! The 135 has adjustable creep speed %. I set it faster for piling trees and slower for cutting/mulching. Hoping the CAT also has this feature. Dropping 20hp to go to the CAT has me a bit weary, but the 132hp of the 135 has broken a bunch of attachments just from being overpowered for them. The 135 belly pans are OK except for the fact the front pan hinges the opposite direction, making it impossible to get to from the back. Overheating is definitely the biggest problem aside from broken AC. You must keep the coolers meticulously clean to not overheat. --- One tip for you, cover your top window with a black trash bag to block out the sunlight. It makes a HUGE difference on in-cab temps. Another thing you could try I'm going to try it on our skid steer is painting the back door and the top cover a lighter color I'm going to paint ours a caterpillar tan so that at least it's not baking in the Sun I find that when I'm in the shade I run just fine but as soon as I get in the Sun I overheat

I live out west and it was a very dusty job I had to stop like every time I fueled and completely blow the machine off and blow the radiator out with a leaf blower and an air compressor it gets very dusty

I've only been running it 299 for 100 hours and I ran a bobcat for 25 hours with my only experience mulchers on both like 2 hours with a bucket on both of them mulchers on both and like 10 hours with a grapple on caterpillar I find that I run my driver's side control closer cuz I'm constantly using it and the tilt function I push out farther cuz I only tap it when I need it I'm also a lot of sagebrush few trees but mostly sagebrush so it works out that I can just tap it and I don't have to constantly be holding it

Where did you get the replacement liner?

I can get the front tobstart and slide off the back is on there good was pulling with another tractor and still cant get it off. Any recomendations. Both certs take grease should i try some heat

Hey thanks for making this video. I felt compelled to share some thoughts from my experience and also ask a question. 1). There is definitely something wrong with your AC. My 299XE has always been able to run you out of the cab. I actually had my AC go out at one point in the machine and took it in and it was fixed under warranty, compressor went out. Ice cold again so definitely get yours checked. 2. I did a demo on a new TL12 when I demoed my 299. I actually was leaning towards the TL until I got some field time with them. The CAT beat it in every category (mulching power, comfort, cab was more quiet, more track power, etc.). If you don’t like the track power when mulching with your 299 you definitely wouldn’t like the TL. I do like the look of the TL12 more though. 3. The only difference in my setup is I don’t have the saddle tanks. Kinda regretted not getting them but it was nother 8k. I actually talked to another 299 owner and he said that their not as stable doing dirt work or grapple work with the saddles so I’m glad I have the counter weights as I do both. Would you get the saddle tanks if you bought another 299 or would you opt out like me? The only benefit I see is that the saddle tanks open up the engine compartment so it breaths a little more.

Shame that Cat is a leader in the industry and yet know their machine can’t run cool enough to get the job done.

CAT and Takeuchi both have Kubota motors, you just pay a hell of a lot more for yellow paint

Ive had a bobcat t770 and a deere 333g. Both great machines

Cat has by far the best cab. Can’t speak to running a mulcher but in the dirt car is superior, if the tracks stay on. Not a cat fan either. John Deere is an ok farm machine and that’s it.

I am looking to get my feet wet in this skid steer business. I am normally off on average 4 months a year and I would like to start a side business that could potentially go full time. I can run equipment, I am no stranger to that. Would it be safe to buy a 75 horse machine with the high flow set up for mulching? Although I don't think it will be mulching full time, I will do just about anything with it to get work dirt work, mowing, building fences "post hole digger", etc. Thanks in advance
