How bizarre that you chose to share a story where you are blatantly rude and a self appointed kitchen monitor toward direct care staff that have very little time to participate in anything, let alone a rare community building potluck that’s designed to increase lagging morale. Why wasn’t more attention paid to the terrible killings last weekend of our houseless neighbors near Marion Square Park, the safer encampment there having been recently and ruthlessly cleared by our local authorities? At the global scale, why wasn’t more said about the terrible suffering of people in Ukraine (though it was great to see Guy Hallman allude to this in his selection of music)? After decrying the stigmatizing of mental illness, why did the minister proceed to “other” his childhood friend, ultimately dismissing him as a psychopath? This service left me with so many questions and concerns.

What a lovely sermon, drawing insights from the Buddhist, Christian and Hindu traditions. So quintessentially Unitarian! And a message I really needed to hear today, feeling a bit down about the state of things. Thank you, Rev. Rick, for once again being my spiritual inspiration. Namaste!

I"t is an important struggle to many people" - It is importtant to.each person -- to ALL people-- to look at how they have benefited unfairly, how others have suffered loss of opportunity, respect, or safety, how our acceptance of privilege has deprived others. Dismantling our unjust systems is NOT included in the other 7 principles. It is NOT negative to dismantle injustice to finally achieve respect and liberty for all.

No it is NOT already there. You are missing. It is positive to commit to remove the discrimination that burts so many-- it is not negative to dismantle racism and to thoughtfully look within ourselves to find how we have been given preference, unfair advantage.

Wars now kill 4 children for every combatant death. Justification is for "National interests" or "national defense ", but the numbers are factually true. There is NO excuse for War becoming the killing of children. Half of USA taxes are going to military industry...let's get peaceful.

Wonderful sermon for a fraught election day, Rick! A timely reminder of the democratic values to which we aspire, despite their current eclipse by rancid demagogues like Trump!

I believe Irshad made a worthwhile observation that is forgotten by many. Someone can treat others with respect without agreeing with them, but simply by hearing them out. Too many of us believe that if others hear us without being convinced of our correctness, they are disrespecting us. The reverse is also true. I believe that many of those who recently left the church where Todd is minister felt disrespected even though he had listened to them. His failure to adopt their viewpoint made them feel unheard. This was not Todd's fault; he HAD listened, he just didn't agree with their assessment of the issues.

I so enjoyed the service. It felt like 'home'!

I am grateful that this virus has pushed us to use technology. I missed Reverend Rick's sermons when I left Oregon and this congregation's relationship with earth. It gives me peace. Hopefully, when l return to Oregon, we will be meeting in person again, but still maintain this tool to continue to connect with people who cannot travel.

I love the oval around Rick during Meditation! It sets it off from the rest of the program, and visually takes us "elsewhere"! I could not hear Lennie's voice very clearly-- could be worked around by turning up the sound, but then had to turn it down again for the rest of the program.

Thank you so much for making these videos! It has been hard for me not being able to go to my church and other places I deeply enjoy! Because of these videos I still feel connected!
