    Oh my God. I have visions going back over 50 years from these 2 devices. How can that be? Drones like this didn't exist 50 years ago. That's right they did not. But something else did. We flew these also. Yes they were called, Ampex Tape Recorders. And they recorded a lot of it records. Bing Crosby purchased the first 6. But in the early 1970s. This other company. On the other side of the United States from Redwood City, California in, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Had started off. As a rock 'n roll music store. Selling guitars and stuff. And this guy. Decided to build. Some, transistor, tape recorder channels. So you could replace. The old, vacuum tube electronics. And what better electronics to make? Then the, Ampex, A G-440, tape recorder electronics. And called the JH-5. Later they made, 8 and 16 and 24 track recorders. All using the same Ampex electronics. So cloned, so identical. You could swap, the circuit boards. From your MCI. And plug them into your Ampex. And you could take your Ampex circuit boards. And plug them into your MCI. And I always wondered how they got away with that? But I guess the circuitry was all in the Public Domain? Except they ordered the same circuit boards. The same parts. The identical parts. The identical circuit boards. One said, MCI the others said, Ampex. But they were interchangeable. And so that's what I'm seeing right here. Battery swaps. It's a perfect clone. Only the software is different. But in all reality, in the end. These are not worth the price. These are more costly than the, DJI, product line. These are stupid more expensive. And they are coming from the same damned, Chinese manufacturer. And perhaps not? And that's why they are so much more expensive. And to be certain. Some Americans are involved. That's why they are so much more expensive. Pockets need to be lined. So this is a bolstered product nobody should purchase. But only to get around the, united states banning of, DJI. And so you're going to pay for it. To get the same thing in green. Because these Chinese are going to sell their stuff to Americans. Anyway they have to. It has no, Geo locking. That's why it's so much more expensive. So you can, get away with the, restricted, illegal stuff. And then you can go race airplanes, at airports. Because they are unrestricted. So we all knew this was going to happen at twice the price. Because the US government will not cut into their profit making. As a communist country. How else are they going to get American dollars by the billions? They just came out with a new toy for Americans. And this one is even more expensive. And an identical clone. So this is only for the wealthiest and sickest of minds. For adult children that want to play. RemyRAD

    As a US citizen, looking to fly a drone over the 250g, for recreational purposes, it sounds like I would need to take/pass the Basic exam (that is very similar to the US 107) and then file for the SFOC-RPAS. However, if I wanted to be able to fly closer to people, even if it is family, I would need to take/pass Advanced exam and then the same application for the SFOC-RPAS. Just wanted to make sure this is correct? What is the difference between the Basic and Advanced exams and is it worth the effort?

    • @CANDRONE
      @CANDRONE Месяц назад

      Key difference between Basic and Advanced is what type of airspace you want to fly in. With the basic you can only fly in uncontrolled airspace, the advanced allows you to request permission to fly in controlled airspace. If you are flying your drone in most major Canadian cities, you'll likely be operating near an aerodrome, therefore you'll need your advanced.

    Great webinar! Can you answer another question please? Currently, for L1 data QC, DJI Terra allows importing and classifying GCPs as "check points", and measures the point cloud altitude error around those points. However, if i leave the gcps classified as "control points", terra will constrain the point cloud, altering the raw data altitude. Is this recommended fot lidar point clouds? Thank you!

      If you fit a point cloud to a control network, you are warping and stretching the data. In altering the points this way, you may be degrading the overall accuracy to make one corner fit better, for instance. You could be dragging down the overall accuracy. I would usually start a project by asking a client what their accuracy requirements are and why they need to meet those specifications. If I thought the sensor was capable of those results, I would place GCPs and fly the mission but use the control merely as a checkpoint for generating an accuracy report. If I had done everything correctly, I shouldn't see too much error in the sensor and I would report the results to the client. If I have to stretch and warp the cloud to make it fit, it means the sensor wasn't up to the project in question or the sensor wasn't flown effectively. In essence, I would consider the use case, the sensor capabilities, and what the client is asking for before I alter the points.

    Can I fly my sub250 gram drone over a road in Canada? Not very much info on this

      You should be alright to do so provided you are 30 horizontal meters away from people. You can read more about the regulations here: tc.canada.ca/en/aviation/drone-safety/learn-rules-you-fly-your-drone/flying-your-drone-safely-legally

      From what I found sub250 can be closer than 30. I follow my vehicle from passengers seat and get within inches of road. I have found nothing stating I can not do it.

      You can fly over people in cars in Canada, even if they are in motion, regardless of the size of your drone. "People inside vehicles or inside buildings are not factored into the 30-metre horizontal distance rule (CAR 901.26). Even if an RPA can fly within 30 m of vehicles, buildings, crew members, or other people involved in the operation, this needs to be done safely (CAR 900.06)." What you have to avoid is flying over motorcycles. They are not considered "inside" a vehicle.
