He's using a defensive fundamental called "parrying," the same as in fencing, first introduced by Gentleman Jim Corbett. It makes the other guy's right hand Spong got dropped by, useless, so the opponent (Duut) keeps throwing a left, and Spong is timing the in between drawback of Duut's left to release his right hand counter. Basic fundamentals. When Duut saw the parry, he forgot his fundamentals because he had just scored a right hand knockdown. He was supposed to stop throwing the left, bring it back to defend his chin, and throw a right to the body. Watch after the first knockdown, Duut is throwing both hands with some success until he meets the parry.
